Day Of Global Peace And Self - Healing On the Anniversary Of the Bam Earthquake Of 2003

On behalf of the children of the victims of the Bam earthquake and in celebration of their lives, Dr. Sonia Gaemi of Women for Cultural Wisdom and affiliated women’s and children organizations, in cooperation with the United Nations and the Appadana International Satellite Television Network, are officially declaring December 26 as the day of "Global Peace and Self Healing" and naming Bam a “Land of Peace and Self Healing”.

(PRWEB) December 25, 2004

On this day Appadana International TV will sponsor Dr. Sonia Gaemi, producer of the TV program "The Art of Self Healing with Dr. Sonia”, who will present 10 hours of special programming focusing on Bam, the children of Bam, and all that has been done and needs to be done so that healing takes place in their lives. The program will present programs and events conducted around the world to commemorate that day, including Qigong demonstrations by the children of Bam. They will come to Appadana by telephone for live interviews and comments. The viewing public will learn what has been done so far to help heal and bring self-confidence to people who have suffered so enormously. The programs for the day include a candlelight walking meditation by the children to the cemetery in Bam, children’s meditation and tree planting in the Melat Park in Tehran, and other children’s ceremonies throughout the world. Presentations on the history of the Erg E Bam Citadel, a historical monument, and of the Silk Road, which was the means of “dialogue among civilizations”, will also be a part of the program.

This is a day not only to celebrate renewal and life in Bam but also to appreciate the kindness and generosity of Iranians and the people of over 50 nations who offered help and support. Messages of peace from world leaders including the Dali Lama, Deepak Chopra, former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn, International Poet Laureate of Peace Dr. Mary Rudge, Dr. Susan Zipp, Advisor to the Communications Coordination Committee for the United Nations, and speakers from United Nations Peoples Assembly and Women for Cultural Wisdom will be broadcasted as received. Musicians, artists and poets of all beliefs with messages of peace and self-healing from cultures along the Silk Road are invited to share their talents.

Dr. Sonia, a registered dietitian with a residency at UC Berkeley, appears weekly on her TV show, one of the most popular programs among the Farsi-speaking populations of the world. She is called "Mother Sonia" by the children of Bam and is remembered for helping lead people toward health through her teachings of Chinese Medical Qigong, energy-enhancing exercises, teas, and messages of self-healing through integrated nutritional medicine and eating hormonally. She has been a tireless proponent of global peace, tranquility, and compassion. On the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, she organized a conference entitled “Women’s Body-Mind-Health” and was called an "amazing woman". In Dr. Sonia’s interview with Dr. Ramu Damodaran, editor in chief of the UN Chronicle, he said that the humanitarian focus of the United Nations should be on the prevention of illness and on self-healing, and agreed to the U. N. collaboration in declaring December 26 as the day of "Global Peace and Self Healing" and naming Bam a “Land of Peace and Self Healing”.

Children in other parts of the world can unite with the children of Bam by sending videos of their Walking Meditation, and everyone is invited to plant seeds to symbolize hope and solidarity. On December 25 & 26 fund raising for Bam will take place during the program. Proceedings will be sent for the children of Bam for the Persian New Year celebration. Artists, musicians, historians, and organizations are invited to participate or send videos, pictures or any documents relating to Bam to be used on television and to share their spirit with the people of Bam.

Eurolearn Announces The Launch Of Their New Website

Eurolearn Announces The Launch Of Their New Website

Eurolearn, an educational program of GlobaLinks that sends students to Europe for study for a semester or a year, announces their new website at Eurolearn. org.

Westminster, CO (PRWEB) February 14, 2009

Eurolearn, a student study abroad program, announces the launch of their new website. Eurolearn is an educational program of GlobaLinks. With main offices located in Westminster, Colorado, Eurolearn provides college students from around the U. S. and Canada with opportunities to study abroad in England (http://www. eurolearn. org/destinations/england/), Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Scotland and Wales.

Director of Students Services and Programs Mona Miller has put together a program that offers cultural and educational exchanges that range from 2-week short courses to semesters and even year-long study programs. Eurolearn participants can participate in classes in their host countries that are taught in English, but students are encouraged to study languages as part of their academic program abroad. The study abroad Ireland (http://www. eurolearn. org/destinations/ireland/) and study abroad in Italy programs occur on university campuses, and credits earned abroad through study abroad Europe programs can be applied to undergraduate degree programs offered in the United States and Canada.

Eurolearn offers students an excellent opportunity to study in European countries, and they take the hassle out of what would be an enormous undertaking for students trying to study abroad on their own. Eurolearn provides for academic and cultural counseling, and they facilitate the admissions and course enrollment process abroad. Guaranteed housing is provided for every student. Insurance and emergency response plans are in place, based on their in-country expertise and history of health and safety factors.

The Europe study abroad program (http://www. eurolearn. org/) also offers students in-country orientation, as well as help with obtaining visas, passports and registering with United States or Canadian embassies in-country. Students, parents and advisors also have round-the-clock access to emergency services.

The new Eurolearn website features easy to navigate links detailing information about the many programs offered, universities and destinations. As well, there are links designated for information specifically for parents, advisors, students and alumni. Full information about the study abroad Europe semester or year abroad, summer programs and a spring break alternative program in England are fully outlined. Students intent on European study have the opportunity to create a MyLearn account on the new website, which helps students stay organized throughout the process of applying for a foreign study program. This, combined with a great deal of information provided about the host countries involved, and the cultures that make these areas home, make the Eurolearn website an informative stop on the way to a great study abroad Europe experience.

Meetings and Event Planners Turn to Social Networks that Build upon Personal Relationships

Meetings and Event Planners Turn to Social Networks that Build upon Personal Relationships

The majority of meeting and event planners prefer social networks that build upon, instead of replace, personal relationships, according to an HSMAI Affordable Meetings® West pre-conference survey conducted by J. Spargo & Associates, Inc. and independently analyzed by 20|20 Assessment™ - a service of HVS.

McLean, VA (PRWEB) June 8, 2009

The majority of meeting and event planners prefer social networks that build upon, instead of replace, personal relationships, according to an HSMAI Affordable Meetings® West pre-conference survey conducted by J. Spargo & Associates, Inc. and independently analyzed by 20|20 Assessment™ - a service of HVS.

Sixty-one percent of meeting planners attending the 13th Annual Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International's (HSMAI) Affordable Meetings® West Conference & Exposition at San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif. on June 10-11, 2009, stated that they were engaged on Facebook, and 58 percent were members of LinkedIn. Networking and maintaining relationships were the top benefits cited. Just 13 percent said they were using Twitter.

"Technology is actively leveraged by event planners for a competitive edge, but professionals are consistently relying on tools that strategically engage customers and resources at a broad, in-depth and paced level, rather than provide small, bursts of rather impersonal contacts," stated Dr. James Houran of 20|20 Assessment™. "Event planners still emphasize personal attention as their core business practice, and this is consistent with the current and strong customer demand for enhanced customer service in this era of budget cuts and contingency planning."

Technology continues to be a top priority in 2009 with 70 percent of planners reporting an increase in technology use in meetings management and marketing. Of those respondents, 74 percent commented that the incorporation of the various technologies made their jobs easier. Thirty percent of planners also cited that they would be looking for event planning software suppliers at this year's exposition.

"Holding Affordable Meetings® West in San Jose this year puts us in the backyard of Silicon Valley, which seems like an appropriate backdrop for the Event Technology Expo Preview" said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI. "The ETE preview incorporates educational sessions and suppliers that focus on providing economical solutions for our attendees."

Other resources planners will be seeking at Affordable Meetings® West include hotels and resorts (80 percent), alternate venues (70 percent), promotional items (44 percent), CVB's (43 percent) and entertainment (33 percent).

The "Event Technology Expo" Preview features various suppliers in the exhibit hall and incorporates ETE educational sessions into the conference program. ETE educational sessions include, "Get More Done! A Productivity Workshop with the Email Coach" and "Technology Trends Meeting & Event Planners Need to Know."

More than 600 attendees, representing meeting and event planners from a variety of organizations, with a majority representing corporate, association and independent sectors and the balance from government, non-profit, education, religious and medical/health care organizations, trade show management and the military, are expected to visit HSMAI's Affordable Meetings® West 2009 show. Attendance at HSMAI's Affordable Meetings® West is free-of-charge for qualified meeting planners.

Booth space is still available at the West Show and can be obtained by contacting Craig Baker, account manager, J. Spargo & Associates, Inc. (703) 679-3942, e-mail: amexhibits(at)jspargo. com.

Other shows for 2009 include HSMAI's Affordable Meetings® National and Event Technology Expo, Sept. 9-10, 2009, Walter E. Washington Convention Center - Washington, D. C.

Rimol Greenhouse Systems & American Hydroponics Grow Winning Partnership

Rimol Greenhouse Systems & American Hydroponics Grow Winning Partnership

A New Hampshire greenhouse manufacturer and a California hydroponics company are hoping that their budding East/West relationship will be one that bears fruit for their customers and the environment.

Hooksett, NH (PRWEB) January 5, 2011

A New Hampshire greenhouse manufacturer and a California hydroponics company are hoping that their budding East/West relationship will be one that bears fruit for their customers and the environment.

Hooksett, NH-based Rimol Greenhouse Systems (RGS) and Arcata, California-based American Hydroponics (AmHydro) announced today that they have entered a partnership for the mutual goal of providing growers with exceptional value and service in total design and implementation of greenhouses and hydroponic systems.

“Given the unprecedented rise of the hydroponics industry and the fact that more and more people are recognizing the benefits of locally grown food, this partnership makes sense on so many different levels,” said Rimol Greenhouse Systems Founder Bob Rimol. “As industry leaders in our individual disciplines, we understand that by partnering, we can offer our customers the best possible blueprint and game plan to grow healthier and safer food for themselves and their neighbors.”

Hydroponic plant cultivation is an efficient method of achieving maximum production in minimal space, without soil, by recirculating minerals dissolved in water. As an established branch of horticulture, hydroponics uses 1/10th the amount of water as a regular farm to produce the same amount of food. When coupled with greenhouses, no harmful pesticides or herbicides are required ensuring optimum plant and human health.

RGS designs, manufactures and installs greenhouse structures and systems that control light, temperature (heating and cooling), CO2 and the overall environment. Even insect control is factored into the overall greenhouse design, which also takes into account the best crops to grow, budget and revenue expectations.

Located in a 16,000-square-foot manufacturing facility overlooking the foothills, green pastures and tall redwoods in Humboldt County, California, American Hydroponics has been providing state-of-the-art crop performance products and services for people to grow crops successfully for the past 26 years. American Hydroponics currently has the highest rate of successful growers using their commercial hydroponic systems than any other system manufacturer and looks forward to combining their skills and expertise with their new partner.

“RGS shares our belief that the well-being of the environment is everyone’s responsibility and that water and land conservation is more important than ever before,” said American Hydroponics President Michael Christian. “Recognizing the fact that a smarter approach to farming has become a necessity to preserve farmland and other natural resources, the synergy between our two companies is natural and the relationship extremely beneficial to our customers.”

One company that has already benefited from the partnership is Hackettstown, New Jersey-based Greenway Flowers, which has expanded their traditional floral business to also include hydroponic, food-producing greenhouses. With a new, state-of-the-art RGS greenhouse outfitted with an American Hydroponics lettuce growing system, Greenway is now diversifying their business and finding a new revenue stream.

“Today Mom and Pop florists have to compete against supermarkets, online companies and imported flowers. In order to ensure our long-term sustainability as a business, we needed to branch out and add something new,” said Greenway Flowers Owner George Cummings. “With the greenhouse and lettuce growing systems, we have a new product, new customers and enhanced cash flow. Now, instead of just being florists, we’re also learning to farm.”
