What Are the Ingredients in the Top Diabetic Supplements?

What Are the Ingredients in the Top Diabetic Supplements?

A quick look at what is in those internet diabetic supplements. Review the ingredients and see which natural supplements are most used and discover which ones support the American Diabetes Association’s recommendations. Remember Prevention first.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 24, 2006

The internet offers up a selection of companies that make natural supplements focused on Diabetics. While the American Diabetes Association has its own program, these companies each make various claims for their products and ingredients.

With Diabetes the “Prevention” or management of this disease is clearly in the hands of those diabetics who believe that their own involvement can make a difference.

Let’s leave the product names off, skip the sales pitches and do exactly what a new diabetic might do. Sort through the claims to see what works. This is a simple review of the products I see as the 10 most common “diabetic supplements” found on the internet. The Next Step is simple, just read the labels, list the ingredients, and take a look at what the chef is offering to you.

This is a very interesting exercise.

Remember the goal of the program is to integrate the best thinking of the Medical community, the world of natural supplements and common sense.

No surprise, these top ten products produced a basket of 41 natural ingredients. Sounds like Hungarian Stew from the old neighborhood. One might search out the cheapest ingredients and see if they lead the pack; and also carefully note the real dosage compared to any clinical research that might back up the claims. We make no claims here for the validity of any company’s claims.

From The Top Ten; Here is the scorecard:

(There are multiple selection combinations)

8 selected: Chromium

Number ONE. It is widely thought that Chromium enhances the effect of insulin, and is believed to help reduce blood glucose levels which is thought to be useful to people suffering from Type 2. Be aware that even here some “chromium packages” are as much as 600% better absorbed than others.

8 selected: Gymnema sylvestre

Stimulates the release of the body's insulin and may reduce blood glucose.

7 selected: Bitter melon

Has been observed normalize elevated blood sugar levels.

5 selected: Cinnamon

Research indicates that Cinnamon reduces the amount of insulin necessary for glucose metabolism. Ground like McCormick Spices, Not flavorings.

5 selected: Vanadyl Sulfate

Effective in normalizing blood sugar levels and controlling conditions such as insulin resistance.

4 selected: Fenugreek seeds

To improve blood sugar control in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

3 selected: Garcinia Cambogia

Enhances the effectiveness of the body's natural insulin and is a significant weight loss supplement.

3 selected: Zinc

Zinc plays multiple roles in proper insulin function. Zinc is involved in virtually all aspects of insulin metabolism.

3 selected: Garcinia Cambogia

Is a significant weight loss supplement, while enhancing the effectiveness of the body's natural insulin.

3 selected: Pterocarpus marsupiun

Helped control blood sugar levels.

3 selected: Banaba

N/A.

3 selected: Bioyon USP

N/A

And now the easy part. What does the Medical community say about managing this disease? Lose weight; Lose weight; Lose weight; Eat a healthy diabetic diet from your nutritionist; and exercise.

So if you choose a supplement, pick one that helps you get at these three universal principals. http://www. diabetes. org/home. jsp (http://www. diabetes. org/home. jsp)

PHS Commissioned Corps Deploys Public Health Professionals to Provide Hurricane Relief

PHS Commissioned Corps Deploys Public Health Professionals to Provide Hurricane Relief

The Commissioned Corps is the least known Uniformed Service, yet the first deployed to respond to chemical and/or biological attacks. There is no better time than now for the general public to get to know those who protect our Nation's public health.

(PRWEB) October 1, 2004

In the wake of the Hurricane’s Frances, Charley, Ivan, and Jeanne, the United States Public Health Service (PHS) Commissioned Corps has deployed some 490 officers to provide support to the citizens of Florida and Alabama. Officers from every category of the Service were utilized to meet any and every challenge encountered as a result of the devastation left behind by the deadly hurricanes – blamed for the deaths of close to 100 U. S. citizens. The PHS Commissioned Corps is a component of the Department and Health and Human Services (DHHS) and one of the seven uniformed services.

The magnitude of the crisis response is the largest for the Commissioned Corps since the terrorist attacks of 2001. On short notice, the Corps sent four dentists, three dieticians, twenty-three engineers, twenty-seven environmental health officers, seventy-seven health services officers, two hundred sixty-four nurses, thirty-nine pharmacists, twenty-five physicians, twenty-five scientists, ten therapists, and two veterinarians to the Gulf Coast. Responders provided relief for victims, supported local health facilities, and led units to stabilize building structures and to provide first aide to injured citizens. Most of the officers will focus on the areas of Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, two of the areas hardest hit by the hurricanes.

Officers came from all agencies and divisions of DHHS including the Food and Drug Administration; the National Institutes of Health; the Indian Health Service; the Office of the Secretary; the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration; the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry; the Program Support Center; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; the Health Services and Resource Administration; and the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research. Officers were also deployed from the Department of Agriculture; the Department of Homeland Security; the Bureau of Prisons; the U. S. Marshals Service; and the National Park Service.

This deployment is currently on-going and additional Corps officers will be deployed at the command of the leader of the day-to-day operations of the Commissioned Corps, Surgeon General, VADM Richard Carmona.

The Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service is a uniformed service comprised of 6,000 active duty and 2,500 inactive reserve highly-trained and mobile public health professionals who carry out programs to promote the health of the nation, understand and prevent disease and injury, assure safe and effective drugs and medical devices, deliver health services to federal beneficiaries, and furnish health expertise in time of war or other national or international emergencies. To meet and overcome the ever-evolving threats of terrorism, the Commissioned Corps is currently transforming to become a more mobile and deployable force, designed to respond to national and international public health crises. The end of conventional employee assistance programmes?

The end of conventional employee assistance programmes?

Domination of Uk employee assistance programme provision by large companies challenged by low cost, instantly accessible net based enterprises.

(PRWEB) May 28, 2004

Frank Clune CEO SoChoose Services Limited is predicting a radical shake up of employee assistance programme delivery in the UK over the next five years.

“Large players have dominated the UK eap marketplace for the past 25 years, offering high-value, high-cost services to companies and their employees. There has been little so far to criticise in the model. Company A needs a service, Company B provides it.

However, the structure of UK eap provision makes it difficult for small companies to buy into the model at a reasonable cost. They want to provide caring services for staff, they want to reduce absenteeism and they want to get involved in risk mitigation. Unfortunately the “big boys” aren’t really interested in Companies with fewer than 750 employees.

The other major problem with the current model is that of take up. Most eap providers are very cagey when it comes to the number of employees of any given company taking up eap services during any one year. Our best guess is that a 6% take-up represents an industry target. In other words, 94% of employees donÂ’t use their Company eap in any one year.

These problems are inherent in an industry committed to maintaining a very high profit margin. We were told some time ago by an employee of one of the big players that they calculated that for every session of counselling serviced there was a £100 profit margin. That may, or may not, be true. The point of course was that margins of this sort were seen as realisable in the long-term.

Recently some of the big healthcare providers have moved into the eap arena in what can only be described as an aggressive move to corner the market. It is too early to say whether their tactics are correct. Certainly, by the standards of the past few years they are adopting an aggressive pricing policy. Presumably they are also utilising spare capacity from within their existing healthcare organisation.

Our view is that this strategy is still flawed. There needs to be a commitment to high-value/reasonable cost services that meets the needs of all uk companies.”

The challenge facing SoChoose was therefore to create an eap offering that represented something new in the marketplace. The eap had to meet certain very clear criteria. Firstly, it had to appeal, as a service, to companies in the SME sector. Secondly, it had to be available across British industry with no significant price penalty based on size. Lastly, it needed to appeal to staff in such a way that it became a resource for all, rather than the 6% of people currently accessing their conventional eap.

This is where the Internet comes in. Employee assistance programme services are tailor-made for the net. At itÂ’s best the Internet is a benign delivery system, providing informed customer choice and discreet delivery.

Email, chat, voice-to-voice and webcam have been around for some time. SoChoose utilises all of them as part of its eap offering. Delivery is simple efficient and secure.

A study by the University of Maryland (March 2002) concluded that “employees are highly motivated to use an online, integrated work-life and employee assistance program”. The study dealt only with information and self help services, SoChoose takes this a stage further by actually delivering caring services online, person-to person. The offering includes advice (counselling, debt & welfare, medical, health and fitness, coaching) - delivered by fully qualified professionals - online testing and information services. Truly a service for all, from BMI testing, through information about sex, to work-life advice.

Frank Clune believes the SoChoose eap offering is uniquely attractive regardless of customer size.

“We have taken great care to create a truly scaleable solution. Our costs are managed by utilising “slack time” in the schedules of busy professionals to answer email requests for advice and by using the net effectively as a recruiting tool with professional advisors spread throughout the country. SoChoose has recruited a team of dedicated, high quality counsellors for live services.

There is a broad commitment to making our services available to everyone who wants them. We keep the costs of promotional materials - and therefore a significant proportion of the cost of owning an eap - low by utilising employee email to promote services.

All SoChoose services are available on an unlimited basis. There are no session restrictions and our standard eap scheme includes family access at no additional cost. Visit the site at www. sochoose. com.”

Study Shows Men with ED Favor Treatment with Vardenafil

Study Shows Men with ED Favor Treatment with Vardenafil

Preference trial for ED Drugs Sildenafil vs. Vardenafil attempts unbiased results.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 22, 2006

Research published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine and presented at the 12th World Congress of the International Society for Sexual Medicine in Cairo, Egypt is unique in that the data is from a head to head trial of PDE5 inhibitors used to treat patients with erectile dysfunction (ED), designed to minimize bias toward either study drug. The study was a randomized, double-blind, crossover, head-to-head clinical trial that compared vardenafil and sildenafil treatment in men with ED and diabetes, hypertension, and/or hyperlipidemia. The results demonstrated that vardenafil achieved nominal statistical superiority over sildenafil for several frequently used efficacy measures, and non-inferiority of vardenafil to sildenafil as measured by various assessments of patient satisfaction and patient preference.

A total of 1,057 men participated in the study, which involved treatment using each drug for four weeks, with a one-week washout period in between. Patients were asked: “Overall, which medication do you prefer?” along with 11 other preference questions relating to their ED treatment. Additional efficacy assessments using established scales were also used in analysis.

Data showed that 38.9% preferred vardenafil compared to 34.5% sildenafil (26.6% had no preference). Vardenafil was significantly superior to sildenafil in terms of erectile function, intercourse satisfaction and overall satisfaction. There were also a significant higher percentage of positive responses for vardenafil with regards to erection hardness for penetration, maintenance of erection, maintenance until completion, and erection confidence.

“This study represents an important step forward in our understanding of the clinical differences between PDE5 inhibitors, confirming the efficacy of vardenafil for men with erectile dysfunction,” explains Irwin Goldstein, study co-author and Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Sexual Medicine.

There are currently three PDE5 inhibitors available to treat ED: sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil, all of which have previously demonstrated efficacy and tolerability in a range of patient populations, according to researchers.

Data from head-to-head clinical trials, like this one, are scarce. However, results from studies such as this should help clinicians to differentiate among sildenafil, vardenafil, and tadalafil and to select the most appropriate for individual patients.

Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Calls Houston, Austin & Orlando The New Hot Spots For Chinese Drywall & Knauf Tianjin Chinese Drywall

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center made its first discovery of toxic Chinese drywall in Texas, in June of 2009. The group has now discovered that toxic Chinese drywall, might be a much larger problem than thought, in the metro areas of Orlando, Florida, or in smaller communities along Florida's Interstate 75, and Interstate 95, along with the entire metro areas of Houston, and Austin, Texas. The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "if a homeowner in the metro areas of Houston, or Austin, Texas, or Orlando, Florida are living in a 2005-2006 new or remodeled house, if the homeowner has experienced numerous air conditioning coil failures, combined with electrical issues, they need to check their attic to see if they might have Chinese drywall, or specifically Knauf Tianjin Chinese drywall." What is the big deal about finding Knauf Tianjin Chinese drywall in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the metro areas of Houston, and Austin Texas? The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "we need to get as many Knauf Tianjin Chinese drywall homeowners identified as possible, out of fear this specific manufacturer will be the only Chinese drywall maker to settle with completely innocent US homeowners-ASAP." If a homeowner in is dealing with numerous AC Coil failures, the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center will help any US Southeast homeowner in a new, or remodeled home 2005-2006 determine if they have toxic Chinese drywall, or more specifically Knauf Tianjin Chinese drywall. For more information please call the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Washington, DC (Vocus) September 16, 2010

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "it is absolutely vital that we identify a specific type of toxic Chinese drywall called Knauf Tianjin, out of fear this will be the only Chinese drywall maker to settle with innocent homeowners in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the Houston, and Austin, Texas metro areas." Knauf Tianjin Chinese drywall was sold by Banner supply of Florida throughout most of Florida, and it was sold by Interior Exterior Supply of New Orleans in Louisiana, the metro areas Houston, and Austin, Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama according to court records. The time frames for Knauf Tianjin toxic Chinese drywall in the US Southeast are 2005-2006, and involve new, or remodeled homes, subdivisions, and condominiums projects. The group says, "people in Houston, Austin, and or the metro areas Orlando are just starting to wake up to toxic Chinese drywall. If its a home built, or remodeled between 2005-2006, if there have been numerous air conditioning coil failures, if there have been electrical, or health issues, we need to talk with homeowner to see if its Knauf Tianjin Chinese drywall." Homeowners wishing more information can contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Live in a home in Florida, Southeast Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, or Mississippi, built, or remodeled between 2005 & 2006, and you are on your second air conditioning coil? The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "the problem very easily could be toxic Chinese drywall, or specifically, toxic Chinese drywall called Knauf Tianjin. If you combine AC coil failures, black electrical wires, with all, or some of the family is sick, in a new, or remodeled home, condo, or town home in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Southeast Texas, or Mississippi-its probably toxic Chinese drywall." They say, "because Knauf Tianjin may be the only toxic Chinese drywall manufacturer to settle with completely innocent US Southeast homeowners, we are doing everything we can think of to get you identified-now-before time runs out." The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "this is true especially for homeowners living in a 2005-2006 phase, or subdivision, where homeowners have had constant electrical, AC, or health issues in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the metro areas of Houston, and Austin, Texas." For more information please contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

For homeowners in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, or the Houston, Austin metro areas of Texas, wishing to learn more about toxic Chinese drywall, and or wishing to learn more about toxic Chinese drywall symptoms, or self inspections for Knauf Tianjin 2005-2006 toxic Chinese drywall please visit the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center's web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "why has there been so little news coverage of this Chinese drywall disaster? In the metro area of New Orleans alone, we think at least 20%+ of the homes repaired after Hurricane Katrina, will have to be gutted, or bulldozed because of imported toxic Chinese drywall. How heartbreaking is that?" The group says, "even worse, President Obama has yet to address this disaster one time in public since taking office. Banks are not helping the tens, and tens of thousands of US homeowners stuck in this disaster either-they are simply taking the house back as a foreclosure, and then reselling the toxic property-As Is." They say, "maybe the Nancy Pelosi Congress, or President Obama have the imported Chinese drywall disaster on ignore-because---after all---we are talking about Republican States like Florida, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana - AKA-Hick US States; that is--if you are from Chicago, or California." The group says, "we have really, really bad news for House Speaker Pelosi, and President Obama---we just found toxic Chinese drywall in Southern California. Is that a Hick State too?" http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Note To Fox TV, and the Drudge report-------The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "think the President's handling of the economy is bad? Please take a really good look into this Administration's, and numerous federal agencies cataclysmic failure to help literally tens, and tens of thousands of completely innocent US Southeast homeowners living in a toxic drywall home, courtesy of our pitiful friends the Chinese." The Review

University of Health Care offers the CD, Powerful Medical Device Sales, as the latest in its series of interactive learning tools for the health care industry. In this CD, Dr. Daniel Farb and Bruce Gordon pair up once again to provide a useful tool for medical sales representatives to learn the ins and the outs of the business. Dr. Farb contributes his medical expertise to the CD along with Susan Postnikoff and Cynthia Drake and other medical professionals, while Gordon produced the CD and created the graphics.

With 17 complete sections and numerous subsections, the CD covers virtually every aspect of health care that a sales rep could be exposed to. Following a succinct list of goals and an optional pre-test, the early sections offer general information, explaining the different types of hospitals, the types of medical personnel, and policies and procedures for prospective hospital vendors. These introductory sections expand into more detailed lessons including infectious diseases, occupational safety, the Advamed code of ethics, FDA regulations, HIPAA, customer management, and communication. Each section is presented as a separate module.

Produced in varying lengths, some are introduced with a brief video, while others begin with definitions, explanations and goals for the section. In an interesting mix of video, audio, text and graphics, the information in each section is presented to accommodate a variety of learning styles. Of particular interest in this CD are the videos presented by doctors, pharmacists, and other health professionals, who share their real world experience with viewers. At the beginning of each module, the authors offer a brief list of objectives. Considering the breadth of material, the stated objectives are helpful so students can identify the key points throughout the detailed, informative CD. Throughout the modules, the authors present multiple choice, true/false, short answer, and matching questions to test the student’s knowledge. Following the completion of each module, students are directed to a test access page where they can take a more complete exam on what they’ve learned. As each section is successfully passed, the student can print a certificate of completion.

Farb and his associates again offer students a thorough, easy-to-follow resource geared to a specific health care topic. The CD is top notch and will serve as an excellent resource to those training to become medical sales reps or who need an update on what’s new in the world of health care. It could easily become one of the most useful CDs in the University of Health Care’s product portfolio, bringing additional depth and understanding to the role of a medical sales professional.
