Lead Based Paints Can Now Be Removed and Disposed As Non-Hazardous: MT2 Goes Green with ECOBOND LBP

MT2 has new patented technology that addresses worker health exposure and environmental protection issues associated with LBP abatement along with significant savings that can exceed $1.00 per square foot. MT2 has created a product that safely allows for environmentally protective non-hazardous disposal of previously hazardous contamination by LBP. ECOBOND LBP provides for the treatment of the lead prior to removal and/or demolition of LBP covered materials and does it while saving hundreds and thousands of dollars.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 12, 2009

MT2, LLC., Arvada, CO is pleased to announce the expansion of its ECOBOND LBP technology program. Recently the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that they are setting aside $100 million for lead-paint abatement (http://www. hud. gov/offices/lead/).

On it's website HUD notes that, "Lead is a highly toxic metal that may cause a range of health problems, especially in young children. When lead is absorbed into the body, it can cause damage to the brain and other vital organs, like the kidneys, nerves and blood." For more details you can click here to go to the article About Lead Based Paint (LBP).

But not only is lead hazardous to the human body, it is a hazardous contaminant that can have a negative impact on the environment including soils, groundwater, plants and animals. Currently, addressing the issue of lead contamination typically involves having to remove the materials as a hazardous contaminant potentially exposing workers and adding to the already growing piles of other contaminants in our landfills today.

Where can you find lead based paints (LBPs)? They are commonly found in residential, commercial and industrial buildings, more specifically those constructed prior to 1978. They can be found in all 50 states, and it typically costs hundreds to thousands of dollars to properly abate.

MT2 has new patented technology that addresses worker health exposure and environmental protection issues associated with LBP abatement. ECOBOND LBP (http://www. mt2.com/lbp. htm) provides for the treatment of the lead prior to removal and/or demolition of LBP covered materials. MT2 has created a product that safely allows for environmentally protective non-hazardous disposal of previously hazardous contamination by LBP.

Specifically, ECOBOND LBP provides a coating over LBP prior to removal to protect the abatement personnel from potential lead exposure. It also provides for the safe disposal of contaminates as a non-hazardous waste, thereby protecting the environment, and especially groundwaters. In the process, MT2 is providing savings of hundreds to thousands of dollars in abatement and waste disposal costs.

MT2's patented ECOBOND LBP technology has been proven in applications on buildings heavily contaminated by LBP on military bases in California and Hawaii, as well as on industrial buildings, government buildings, bridges and residential structures.

Stan Cook, Project Manager for the Fort Ord Reuse Authority, had the following to say, "ECOBOND (LBP) proved itself in a demonstration on 26 buildings at Fort Ord. The product works and offers potential for future savings."

At an average cost of $0.50 per square foot to properly apply, treat and provide for safe abatement of LBPs, ECOBOND LBP represents a significant savings from typical costs which can range from $2.00 to as much as $8.00 per square foot depending upon the method used.
