UK Government backs Comodo Secure Computing initiatives

UK Government backs Comodo Secure Computing initiatives

Comodo awarded with an Exceptional Development Grant by the UK Government to help in the capture of a significant share of the Trusted Platform Module market..

London UK (PRWEB) June 13, 2004

Comodo, recognized globally as a leading provider of innovative security products and services, specifically for the areas of cryptography, digital certification and advanced ASIC design, has been awarded an Exceptional Grant Award by the UK Government. Comodo along with IBM, HP, Fujitsu, Microsoft, Intel, AMD and others form the Trusted Computing Group, a consortium which exists to develop and promote open standards for hardware-enabled trusted computing and security technologies. Comodo chairs the Trusted Input work group within TCG focusing on setting the future architecture and standards for trusted Input Devices. Following this award the knowledge and expertise of the Comodo research group will now be channeled into the development of the next generation of Trusted Platform Module (TPM) providing a multifunctional device aimed specifically at the notebook market. This new device will feature a fully patented AntiTheft protection system together with many other security features demanded by the mobile PC market. TPMs are already shipping in volume from IBM, HP and Fujitsu, with adoption rates increasing fast to meet the demand for secure computing.

"The UK Government recognises that Research & Development investment is critical to the future success of the e-economy. With the award of this exceptional grant to Comodo, it clearly emphasises the importance of security." commented Stephen Timms, the UK Minister of State for E-Commerce.

"Government acknowledgement of the expertise that we have in security innovation and integration is extremely welcome at a time when security is such a frontline topic across all sectors of the market," commented Steve Roylance, Technical marketing Director for Comodo, "The need for enterprises to provide a trusted computing platform to employees has increased dramatically in recent months as the existing software only solutions are proven to be vulnerable to physical and software attack. In providing an innovative integrated solution for the portable PC sector of the market we will be able to service the most critical enterprise user - the mobile user".

The growing use of mobile phones, PCs and portable computing devices for private and e-commerce transactions presents an increased risk in the protection and management of personal and commercial data. Allied to this is the increased reuse of stolen equipment through reprogramming techniques. New ways have been developed to break the current range of security systems to the extent that no barriers exist to those dedicated criminals who will then use the data to perpetrate fraud, misuse of the data or reuse of the stolen equipment. Building upon the foundation of the work done by the Trusted Computing Group and version 1.2 of the TPM specification Comodo will focus R&D effort to create a hybrid multifunctional device using best of breed hardware and software components together with their own patented security technology to provide a world class differentiator for the OEM mobile PC market. The TPM concept is expected to be used in the majority of new computers within the next few years, based on TCG specifications; it allows validation of both the computer and its user, and provides secure storage for critical data and passwords. It can verify that a 'trusted process' should run, and establish 'trusted relationships' with other computers to reduce opportunities for viruses and other attacks.

Business Growth Strategy Takes 10 Steps

Business Growth Strategy Takes 10 Steps

Leaving any company's growth to chance is dangerous. A company’s best shot at a larger market share comes from developing and implementing a successful growth strategy.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 10, 2006

Plucking a farmer from the fields and handing him the keys to the business for a year would make any business owner nervous, right? Of course it would. But there's a good chance that at the end of the year the business would be healthier.

Why? Because farmers know how to grow things. They don't just walk around dropping seeds everywhere and then sit back and wait for the crops to come in. Instead, they get out there and plow the field. Then they cultivate the soil. Then they plant the seeds. Each of these things has to happen before the harvest ever comes. It’s all second nature to a farmer.

Leaving any company's growth to chance is dangerous. A company’s best shot at a larger market share comes from developing and implementing a successful growth strategy.

Over the past decade, Steve Kaplan—businessman extraordinaire, AKA The Difference Maker—has developed a ten-step process for growing or expanding a business. In very general terms, it has to do with taking a look at a company's current revenue streams, defining the current target customers, and using that information to develop growth strategies. Want more customers with the same products, more products for the same customers, both, or an expansion to a new geography? Steve Kaplan’s 10-step method covers all the possibilities:

1. The How and the Who

2. Forks in the Road – Growth Strategies

3. Growth Strategy Options

4. Current Customers and Products

5. Potential Growth Opportunities

6. Assess Viability

7. Selecting the Best Strategy

8. Spring Cleaning for Growth – Organizing the Business

9. Countdown and Timing

10. Measuring Success

The next several press releases will explore each of these steps in detail. In the meantime, find out more about Steve Kaplan’s 10-step method and other ideas for business growth, business management, and business leadership at http://www. differencemaker. com (http://www. differencemaker. com)

Elgressy Installs Tested And Approved Weapon Against Legionella

Elgressy Installs Tested And Approved Weapon Against Legionella

Breakthrough water treatment technlogy to eradicate and control legionella pneumophila bacteria tested and approved. Largest Medical Center in Israel orders 3 Elgressy systems.

Nethanya, Israel (PRWEB) September 18, 2006

Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva, Israel’s largest medical center with 1,300 beds, has after extensive laboratory and operational tests ordered 3 complete Elgressy LPB units for the eradication and control of Legionella Pneumophila Bacteria in all hot and cold water systems throughout the complex.

The Elgressy LPB system is a state-of-the-art electrochemical system that uses a patented electrolytic method to eradicate and control microorganisms, such as the Legionella Pneumophila Bacteria. The principle of operation is to divert all the water of a water circuit through the LPB reaction tank, where electrolysis kills the microbes by means of an extremely high pH environment and trace, but sufficient, amounts of ozone, radical oxygen and free chlorine. The remnants of the microorganisms are then physically removed from the reaction tank.

The process does NOT use any chemicals or additives, thereby making the system absolutely safe and environmental friendly. Since no foreign substances are introduced, its use is not subject to stringent regulatory controls. The treatment inside the reaction tank does not change or influence the water chemistry in the water system: the content of the water-in is the same as of the water-out, evidently free of microorganisms. As part of the system, an evacuation mechanism and sacrificing electrodes are built in the existing water tanks to prevent any bacterial growth usually prevalent at the bottom of these tanks. The LPB system has a wide array of remote (by GSM) monitoring and control options. Since the system is based on the other Elgressy water treatment systems that prevent scaling, corrosion and biofouling, the LPB system also provides these same benefits.

Legionella bacteria are aerobic gram-negative rods associated with respiratory infections. Legionella are ubiquitous in natural aquatic environments, capable of existing in waters with varied temperatures, pH levels, and nutrient and oxygen contents. Symbiotic existence with algae and other bacteria, particularly in biofilm, increases the availability of nutrients. Legionella are prevalent in anthropogenic waters such as potable water, hot water systems, cooling tower reservoirs, and whirlpools. Aerosol-generating systems such as faucets, showerheads, cooling towers, and nebulizers aid in the transmission of Legionella from water to air. Human inhalation of contaminated aerosols leads to Legionella infections and disease outbreaks.

Various methods to control Legionella are in use, such as systemic sanitization of entire water systems (e. g., thermal disinfection, hyperchlorination, copper-silver ionization) and focal disinfection of specific portions of those systems (UV sterilization, instantaneous heating systems, ozonation). These treatment procedures have each their limitations and disadvantages in preventing the recolonization of Legionella in most water distribution systems.

Substantial advancements have been made since the past years, and the Elgressy LPB system is the latest development with astonishing results. The Elgressy LPB system has been tested at Asaf Harofeh Hospital and consequently approved by the Ministry of Health in Israel. The LPB system is maintenance-free (only requiring bi-annual check-ups and electrode replacement once every 5 years) and affordable, comparable to copper-silver ionization systems in price, but with substantial better results and supplementary systems for safety and back-up.

Global Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices Market to Reach $26.2 Billion by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts

Global Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices Market to Reach $26.2 Billion by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts

GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices market. Aging global population, and rising incidence of cardiovascular abnormalities, has ensured steady growth for cardiac rhythm management products. Replacement needs, wider cross-section of eligible patient bases and further decline in the prices of CRM devices will propel global market for Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices to reach $26.2 billion by 2015.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2009

Cardiac rhythm management devices, the largest segment of the cardiovascular devices market worldwide, comprises of pacemakers, internal cardiac defibrillators (ICDs), external defibrillators, and catheterization, mapping, and ablation devices. The market for Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices continues to gain momentum with rising incidences of cardiac rhythm abnormalities, expanded clinical indications of CRM devices, and technological innovations such as, product miniaturization, development of durable batteries, and biocompatible materials. ICDs, pacemakers, and external defibrillators are witnessing an expansion in application possibilities in addition to its present use in cardiac rhythm management.

Uses of pacemakers have extended from treating heart blocks and bradycardia, atrial arrhythmias to brain and spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's disease, severe pain management and certain forms of cardiomyopathy. Cardiac pacemakers, for instance, are being increasingly utilized to eliminate sudden mortality occurrence among epileptic patients. Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) remains the most unexplored segment of cardiac rhythm management market. Patients on sophisticated dual-chamber pacemakers are less likely to develop atrial fibrillation, or to be hospitalized for heart failure, than those who receive single-chamber pacemakers. Immense growth in the implantation of ICDs during the period 2003-2005, have also resulted in strong growth in the replacements of implants during 2008.

Although these devices have helped save numerous patients lives, and have been approved by the FDA as critical therapies for management of heart failure, technology glitches continue to frustrate functional performance of these devices. Putting behind the shock of product recalls that ravaged manufacturer revenues, and shaved market growth, the cardiac rhythm management (CRM) market is presently shaping up with the beleaguered players stepping up their emphasis on product safety and technology developments. The damage caused by high profile recalls, over the last few years, is likely to be offset by the unabated rise in heart treatment procedures, across the US, Europe, and other developing regions.

As stated by the new market research report, United States represents the largest market for Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices (http://www. strategyr. com/Cardiac_Rhythm_Management_CRM_Devices_Market_Report. asp). The market for CRM devices, although mature in the United States, is forecast to depict steady growth patterns due to the rising number of cardiac related disorders. Global Internal Cardiac Defibrillators market (http://www. strategyr. com/Cardiac_Rhythm_Management_CRM_Devices_Market_Report. asp) is expected to exhibit dynamic growth during the period 2006-2015. Pacemakers market (http://www. strategyr. com/Cardiac_Rhythm_Management_CRM_Devices_Market_Report. asp) in United States will experience a stable growth during 2006-2015 period.

Key players in the marketplace include Boston Scientific Corporation, Bard Electrophysiology, Biotronik GmbH & Co KG, Biosense Webster Inc, Medtronic Inc, Medtronic CryoCath LP, Vitatron Nederland BV, Philips Healthcare, St. Jude Medical Inc, and Sorin Group among others.

The report titled "Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Devices: A Global Market Report" announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a comprehensive review of industry overview, key regional markets, product overview, product introductions/innovations, profiles of major players, and recent industry activity. The report analyzes market data and provides analytics in value sales for regions including the United States and Rest of World. The study also analyzes the Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices market by the following product segments - Internal Cardiac Defibrillators, Pacemakers, External Defibrillators, and Catheterization, Mapping, and Ablation (CMA).

"SALEM WITCH TRIALS,"A NEW FOUR-HOUR MINI-SERIES WILL BE BROADCAST MARCH 2 AND MARCH 4 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

"SALEM WITCH TRIALS,"A NEW FOUR-HOUR MINI-SERIES STARRING KIRSTIE ALLEY, ALAN BATES, REBECCA DE MORNAY, HENRY CZERNY, SHIRLEY MacLAINE, GLORIA REUBEN AND PETER USTINOV, WILL BE BROADCAST MARCH 2 AND MARCH 4 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

(PRWEB) February 13, 2003

SALEM WITCH TRIALS, a new four-hour mini-series starring Kirstie Alley, Alan Bates, Henry Czerny, Rebecca De Mornay, Shirley MacLaine, Gloria Reuben and Peter Ustinov, will be broadcast Sunday, March 2 and Tuesday, March 4 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT; each night) on the CBS Television Network. The drama explores how in 1692 the small Puritan community of Salem, Mass. succumbs to mass hysteria – enabling a small influential force to haphazardly accuse, jail, convict and even kill members of their own churchgoing community whom they suddenly deem to be witches.

This drama is set within a backdrop of a strict religious community struggling to survive the rugged conditions in their New World colony. While contending with various health, safety, comfort and financial hardships, they are suddenly faced with a group of adolescent village girls who seem to be experiencing violent demonic-induced fits. The frightened community is all too quick to believe the girls' explanation – that they have become "afflicted" by witches who are living within their own Puritan community. The Reverend Samuel Parris (Czerny), William Stoughton (Ustinov), the Deputy Governor of Massachusetts, and several other male leaders begin a ruthless witch hunt to purge their town and region. Soon no one is beyond suspicion – though it is the town's women who are most readily accused.

Alley stars as Ann Putnam, the wife of the influential Thomas Putnam, who, in the footsteps of her daughter, Annie, seemingly becomes "afflicted" with strange visions and fits that she publicly blames on the alleged witchcraft of some of her neighbors. Rebecca Nurse (MacLaine), a devoutly religious and kind community elder, is one of the women to fall prey to AnnÂ’s accusations; Nurse's formerly sterling reputation causes a few to, at least, question the validity of such charges of witchcraft. Reuben portrays Tituba Indian, the Parris family's slave servant, who is among the first to be accused. The shocked and terrified Tituba ends up feigning guilt in a desperate attempt to avoid being hanged. De Mornay portrays Elizabeth Parris, Samuel's strong-willed though sickly wife, who, against his wishes, leaves town with their seemingly afflicted daughter, Betty, in an effort to protect the child from being put on display by her witch-obsessed father. Bates plays Sir William Phips, the no-nonsense new Governor of Massachusetts, who appears to be the townspeople's only hope for bringing an end to the disturbing and deadly trials.

Rockville, MD (PRWEB) December 20, 2007

CME Outfitters, LLC, an independent accredited provider of multidisciplinary medical education programming and related healthcare communications services, is pleased to announce a neuroscienceCME problem-based learning activity titled "From Paper to Patient: Applying Clinical Literature to Practice Improvements - Self-Study Practicum."

Available immediately at neuroscienceCME. com, this activity is specifically designed to provide a practical hands-on link between two special neuroscienceCME TV broadcasts on the topic of evidence-based medicine (EBM). This special self-study practicum will allow participants to put their learning into practice by applying EBM techniques in a realistic case study vignette. Specifically, participants will be challenged to apply PICO methods to address specific clinical questions, conduct an appropriate literature search, and appraise the evidence obtained and assess it for clinical significance. This activity is certified for 2 hours of multidisciplinary CE credit and will be offered until October 2008.

There is no fee to participate or receive CE credit for this activity; however, registration is required. There are two methods for registering for this special activity:
Online: Visit the activity details page at http://www. neuroscienceCME. com/cmea. asp? ID=272 (http://www. neuroscienceCME. com/cmea. asp? ID=272) and click the "Participate in Practicum" icon to begin.
Phone: Call 877.CME. PROS (877.263.7767).

Statement of Need:
Evidence-based medicine (EBM) provides a mechanism for obtaining quality evidence for use in addressing case-based clinical questions. The EBM process involves collecting data on a clinical question, critically reviewing it, putting it into context, and then applying it to the patient.(1) The medical literature is large and ever expanding, but available evidence is of varying quality and relevance to particular clinical problems. Therefore, it is not enough for physicians to scan the literature and choose evidence with which to inform their decision-making without appropriately and systematically appraising its value. In this problem-based self-study, participants will be presented with cases and asked to complete the steps in EBM collection and appraisal of evidence.

The Neuro-Science Of Losing The Weight You Hate And Keeping It Off Past Summer

The Neuro-Science Of Losing The Weight You Hate And Keeping It Off Past Summer

Are you one of the 90 million Americans who are currently on a diet? Do you lose weight only to gain every ounce of it back? Well youÂ’re not alone.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 4, 2004

The Neuro-Science Of Losing The Weight You Hate And Keeping It Off Past Summer

Are you one of the 90 million Americans who are currently on a diet? Do you lose weight only to gain every ounce of it back? Well youÂ’re not alone.

The national center for health statistics suggests that over 64 % of Americans are overweight and that figure is growing every year. There are currently over 300 books on dieting and over 16,000 variations of diets from which to choose. People spend over $40 billion a year on every magic potion or pill that they think will help them lose the weight they hate. Unfortunately, 95% gain back all the weight only to once again look for the next hot new diet.

John Assaraf, one of the worldÂ’s leading optimum performance experts, suggests we look at the cause of this epidemic instead of relying on diets and temporary weight loss tricks.

“People don’t understand how their brain functions and therefore gain all the weight they lose 99% of the time,” said John Assaraf. “To diet using will power and exercise is absolutely the worst way to take off the weight you hate, if you want to keep it off for good."

Will power is a very short-term solution for weight loss since it is controlled by the conscious mind. The latest scientific research shows that the non-conscious, conditioned side of your personality controls five sixths of your behavior and therefore your long-term results.

This means that 83% of the time you are acting automatically at a non conscious level and explains why you regain all your weight back. For permanent weight loss, you must re - train the 5/6th your brain if you really want to keep it off.

Amygdala

A recent discovery has to do with your amygdala. This part of your brain doesnÂ’t like change and will release neuro-transmitters anytime you try to change something in your life like your weight. It picks up any deviation from your normal weight and basically causes you to revert back to your old patterns of thoughts and behaviors. It works exactly like the thermostat in your home that automatically picks up any change in room temperature and then automatically corrects it. This explains why people on diets often go on eating binges even while they are on their diet.

Through the years we become conditioned to a certain internal “weight set point” Once this is done we don’t have to think about the day-to-day food intake and activities we need to do to maintain our internal image. This is exactly how we form our habits. Once any habit is ingrained in our brain we function automatically without thought to maintain that internal image. If you don’t like your current weight, you must break your old patterns and old conditioning at the non-conscious level or face the pain of the yoyo syndrome.

Your internal mental system operates exactly like the mechanism that keeps airplanes, missiles or boats on course once they have set their coordinates into the system.

The outer body is only an expression of the internal image. If you want to see permanent changes on the outside, you must re-train the mental image on the inside first.

The most recent research suggests that it takes about 30 days of everyday mental training to “re-train” the brain if you want long lasting and permanent weight loss. By doing a few simple visualization exercises seeing yourself at your perfect weight, you start to recondition your internal image and you begin to erase the old image.

The more you do this the faster youÂ’ll see results. The good news is that you canÂ’t get a brain hernia if you overdo it.

Positive Affirmations

Another simple technique you can use is a written positive affirmation. For example, declare:

·I now weigh xxxx.

·My body fat is xxxxx.

·I feel and look great

·I am at my ideal and perfect weight now

If you repeat reading this and really seeing it on the screen of your mind for at least 30 days, youÂ’ll have a far superior chance of keeping to your ideal weight. You can also cut out photos of the body type you like and paste your picture to it and review it as frequently as possible.

The reason for using present tense affirmations is simple. The non-conscious side of your brain does not know the difference between an actual event and a lie or an imagined one and, it also does not understand the future. Once it is conditioned through repetition and real life or imagined experiences, it will immediately make the outside match up with the internal image.

(PRWEB) September 22, 2002

PITTSBURGH, PA – September 19, 2002 – dbaza, inc. today announced the launch of dbaza’s Diabetes Education for Kids CD-ROM, a comprehensive educational tool designed to teach children recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes how to manage their condition.

“When diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, children and their families have a difficult time understanding and managing the disease,” said Sergey Sirotinin, M. Sc., dbaza’s President and CEO. “We created this product to help them with the process of understanding the basic principles of diabetes care and learning the skills necessary for self-management.”

Each year 13,000 children are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Diabetes is unique among chronic diseases since it demands a high level of involvement from patients and families in daily care and treatment. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), diabetes education is a necessary first step toward helping patients manage the demands of diabetes care and to reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.

DbazaÂ’s Diabetes Education for Kids follows guidelines of the ADA and presents basic principles of diabetes care in practical ways. Children use a computer to practice their skills to test blood glucose levels, administer insulin injections, plan meals, and recognize the interrelationship among blood glucose level and insulin, food, and physical activity.

“We approached the design of this product by considering the most current practices in the disciplines of medicine, education, psychology, public health, the arts, and human-computer interaction,” said Daniel Gloyd, M. Des., dbaza’s Senior Experience Architect. “This allows us to create effective and engaging educational experiences for children to facilitate acquisition of knowledge, adherence to the medical regimen, and successful behavioral changes.”

DbazaÂ’s unique approach to the delivery of medical information and its solid scientific foundation was recognized by the U. S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). For several years, dbaza, inc. has been an active recipient of highly competitive NIH Small Business Innovative Research awards that support product development.

About dbaza, inc.

Dbaza, inc. develops educational and self-care tools for children and adolescents with chronic health challenges. Love at First Bite! SLOW Eating Class, The Golden Fork, Returns Americans to Rediscover Food and to Enjoy Eating

Love at First Bite! SLOW Eating Class, The Golden Fork, Returns Americans to Rediscover Food and to Enjoy Eating

Americans are killing themselves with habits, such as, gobbling food, stress eating and very little chewing. Fast eating is destructive to the body and quality of life. The practice of mindful eating increases awareness about how and why one is eating and offers solutions to find peace with food and to love eating again.

Pittsburgh (PRWEB) January 7, 2010

Americans consume thousands of pounds of potato chips per year. The global potato chip market generates several billion dollars in the United States alone. Yet if you ever took the time to hold a potato chip in your hand, smell it, feel it and just touch your tongue to the end of it, you might eat a second one but not as many as usual. You can smell, feel and taste the grease and salt.

“Potato chips are a big stress food.  You can easily eat half a bag within minutes and not realize it. Chips and other snack foods can be savored with 'mindful eating.'"  Sanna Carapellotti, MS, CHt, of MentalPerformances. com, a Pittsburgh based hypnotherapy service says, “A mindful eating approach creates no guilt or stomach upset."

Carapellotti, a stress reduction expert, is dedicated to reconnecting people with slower and more conscious eating habits. Often referred to as “being mindful,” this approach transforms people’s relationship to food and eating,

The practice of mindful eating is gaining ground across the nation. Mindfulness is about increasing awareness, being in the moment and can be applied to eating.

The first bite of food is generally delicious and tasty, however, each subsequent bite becomes less and less satisfying, especially when stress eating. Through mindfulness, the first bite "party-in-your-mouth" experience can offer a similar satisfaction with each bite.

"We have to eat,” says Sanna. “Sadly; eating has become painful and unsatisfying for many people. We pay a huge price for how we eat.”

A solution lies in increasing awareness. Carapellotti has developed The Golden Fork™ to engage clients in how and why they eat. The Golden Fork™ participants become enlightened eaters through hypnotic techniques, guided imagery and psychological acupressure and an extraordinary eating experience. Eating is a mind body event.

Sanna’s The Golden Fork™ sessions are not therapy-, nutrition-, or counseling-based, although changing one’s eating habits can be highly transformative.

The benefits of attending the Golden Fork™ :
Increase awareness of thoughts and emotions that trigger mindless eating. Discover how SLOW eating can ease digestive stress. Understand stress and mindless eating. Eat fewer calories without counting them. Realize the value of food cravings and what they mean. Savor food with all the senses eliminating rushed meals and unconscious snacking. Has Illinois House Bill 2137 Helped Control Skyrocketing Workers' Comp Costs?

Has Illinois House Bill 2137 Helped Control Skyrocketing Workers' Comp Costs?

One year after implementation, has Illinois House Bill 2137 delivered on its promise to control skyrocketing workers' comp costs for employers? Council on Education in Management is pleased to present answers to this and other crucial workers' comp questions at the Second Annual Illinois Workers' Comp Forum.

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) January 24, 2007

Illinois House Bill 2137, the first major reform to the Illinois workers' comp (http://www. ilwcforum. com) system in over 20 years, was enacted with the goals to control skyrocketing workers' comp costs for employers, fight workers' comp fraud, and improve workers' comp benefits for employees. One year after its implementation, has House Bill 2137 delivered on its promise? Has there been a cost savings to employers or an improvement in the climate for business growth in Illinois? Join us at the Illinois Workers' Comp Forum 2007 where Senator Kwame Raoul will address the successes and failures of HB 2137 and how the remaining challenges can be dealt with by the legislature.

In addition, this innovative event will teach strategies for putting practices in place to successfully get employees back on the job (http://www. ilwcforum. com) as quickly as possible and keep them progressing toward full productivity. Find out how the University of Chicago Hospitals has dramatically reduced the number of employees out on workers' comp from an average of 50-75 to 10. Discover how three vastly different organizations took control of workers' comp costs attributable to back injuries, resulting in savings of over $1 million per year. Learn how you are affected by recent workers' comp statutes (http://www. ilwcforum. com), effective July 2005, which established criminal penalties for all types of workers' comp fraud, including employee fraud, employer fraud, and medical provider fraud.

"The Illinois Workers' Comp Forum puts the entire Illinois workers' comp system under a microscope and shows organizations the strategies to protect their bottom line,” says Michael Fitton, Director of Marketing for Council. “It also offers the chance to interact with leading workers’ comp suppliers who will showcase innovative solutions and provide practical advice on controlling workers’ comp costs.”

The Second annual Illinois Workers’ Comp Forum will give Illinois employers (http://www. ilwcforum. com) straightforward answers from industry experts and will help employers devise a strategy to lower workers’ comp costs and enhance current programs. Presenters will include experts from the legal, insurance, administrative, and health care fields.

Presenters scheduled to appear include:

With More People Exercising Outdoors, Dr. Bakst Recommends Ways To Achieve Drug Free Foot and Knee Pain Relief

With More People Exercising Outdoors, Dr. Bakst Recommends Ways To Achieve Drug Free Foot and Knee Pain Relief

With the warmer weather taking hold, millions of people are taking it outside and doing more exercise. Unfortunately, many will experience knee and foot pain because of the rigors of running and doing other exercises on concrete. Dr. Bakst recommends ways to help achieve drug free foot and knee pain relief.

Palm Desert, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2008

Once the warmer weather arrives, millions of people kick up their exercise routines and take to the streets with running and walking regimes. For many people, knee and foot pain can result in seriously hampering their exercise efforts. For safe, non-drug foot and knee pain relief (http://www. drbakstmagnetics. com/index. php? option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=85) methods, Dr. Bakst offers effective, patented products.

"When the weather improves outside, you see the streets and trails filled with runners and walkers hoping to improve their cardiovascular and muscular health," comments Dr. Bakst owner of Magnatech Labs. "Unfortunately, many of these people will experience foot and knee pain due to a variety of reasons such as poor running shoes, genetics and trying to do too much too soon. When pain hits, it often stops people from continuing their exercise program," he explains.

Personal trainers and sport physicians recommend that anyone undertaking an exercise program speak with their doctor beforehand and to ensure that they have a proper pair of running or walking shoes.

"Knee pain relief used to consist of a brace, some potentially dangerous medications and staying completely off your feet," mentions Dr. Bakst. "Thankfully, with advancements in medical technology, foot and knee pain relief (http://www. drbakstmagnetics. com/index. php? page=shop. product_details&flypage=shop. flypage&product_id=32&category_id=6&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=111) is a reality without the use of drugs and messy ointments. Magnetic pain relief therapies have helped countless people live pain free."

Foot and knee pain relief (http://www. drbakstmagnetics. com/index. php? option=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=87) is nearly instantaneous with proper magnetic therapy. Magnetic therapy stops the pain at the source by disrupting the pain messages before they reach your brain and register pain and discomfort.

"For knee pain, we recommend our adjustable or slip on knee brace. For foot pain, we have magnetic ankle support or magnetic insoles depending on where the sufferer is experiencing pain," Dr. Bakst explains.

Anyone interested in learning more about the patented products that can help eliminate all types of bodily pain is encouraged to visit www. drbakstmagnetics. com.

Aging Expert Offers Tips on How Older Adults Can Become Active in 2010

Aging Expert Offers Tips on How Older Adults Can Become Active in 2010

It's the time of year when millions of people resolve to get off the couch and into the gym. While advice on how to become active floats around the airwaves or appears in print, it's mostly aimed at a general audience. For older adults, these tips range from the helpful to the downright dangerous. To help combat this misinformation Colin Milner, CEO of The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), the world's largest association for the senior fitness and wellness industry, has put together the following 20 tips.

Vancouver, B. C. (PRWEB) December 23, 2009

It's the time of year when millions of people resolve to get off the couch and into the gym. While advice on how to become active floats around the airwaves or appears in print, it's mostly aimed at a general audience. For older adults, these tips range from the helpful to the downright dangerous. To help combat this misinformation, Colin Milner, CEO of The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), the world's largest association for the senior fitness and wellness industry, has put together the following 18 tips:

1. Get a checkup
Meet with your healthcare provider to see whether you'll need to consider any special modifications before starting an exercise program. If necessary, get a clearance to begin a program.

2. Know your options
Before starting any program, examine your options. Pick a program you know you will enjoy. Some individuals like to go to a gym and do a structured workout, while others enjoy a neighborhood walking club. Either will help improve your fitness, ability to function and quality of life-but only if you do it regularly.

3. Determine your participation style
Would you prefer taking a class or going solo? Are you a morning or night person? Does indoor fitness appeal to you, or would you prefer to play outside? Could you dedicate large blocks of time to physical activity or could you fit only shorter, more frequent intervals into your schedule? Be realistic about how you participate.

4. Start slowly
Many people are eager to get started and sometimes overdo it, which usually makes them sore and can make them want to stop. A good way to start slowly is to discover your baseline. Record all your activities during each waking hour or for two - or three-hour time blocks, tracking how much time you are sedentary (e. g. sitting at your desk) or active (e. g. walking to the bus stop). At day's end, count how many hours you have and have not been physically active. Then look at when you could fit some short (e. g. 10 minutes) bouts of brisk walking into your day.

5. Set specific short - and long-term goals
Make goals as specific as possible. For example, On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I will do a brisk, 10-minute walk in the morning before my shower, at lunch time and after dinner. Being specific means you are planning for activity in your day and making it a priority. Long-term goals are also important.

6. Make a list
List the benefits you expect from your physical activity program, then make sure these are realistic and reasonable. Many people expect enormous benefits, such as losing 30 pounds in a month. When these benefits don't materialize, they feel disappointed and relapse because they feel like they've failed. Try to make the benefits about things you can control, rather than an outcome (such as weight).

7. Invest in your health
Do you want to spend money on joining a program? Or would you prefer to develop a program you can do for little cost, using objects or props in your home or office? Both options are available.

8. Checkout the facility you want to join
Does the facility feel friendly? If the facility has a pool, what is its water temperature? About 84-86°F is comfortable for moderate to vigorous activity, while warmer temperatures are nice for range-of-motion and relaxation programs. Ask to try various programs, so you can decide which program feels the most comfortable and fun.

9. Checkout the staff
Are the people who work in the facility friendly and interested in you? Are they qualified to work with older adults? Are they interested in helping you learn how to modify exercises to fit your fitness level and conditions? Talk to mature adults who currently participate in their programs to build a complete picture.

10. Every step counts
Wear a step counter throughout the day to count how many steps you take. Less active people tend to take about 4,000 steps or fewer per day. Aim to do 250 to 1,000 additional steps of brisk walking, until you reach 8,000 to 10,000 steps in a day.

11. Know your challenges
List things that keep you from being active and come up with a solution for each. Recognize that challenges can be overcome.

12. Wear the right shoes
Foot comfort and support is important for all impact physical activities. If you have arthritis, diabetes or orthopedic problems, you can remain physically active with the help of appropriate padded sock products and shoes.

13. If it hurts, don't do it
Work around pain, not through it.

14. Make your car work for you
Park at the outer edges of the grocery store parking lot, rather than looking for the space closest to the door. Walk up the first flight of stairs in a high-rise, rather than waiting for the elevator.

15. Follow a well-rounded program
Include all five components of a successful program: warm-up, flexibility, cardio, resistance and cooldown.

16. Reward yourself
Once you've reached your goal, treat yourself to something that reminds you what a good job you've done and encourages you to continue. Make it something that feeds your spirit, but is not necessarily food or an expensive purchase.

Growth Hormones Direct Releases Tip Sheet for Identifying Valid Growth Hormone Spray and Homeopathic HGH Formulas

Growth Hormones Direct Releases Tip Sheet for Identifying Valid Growth Hormone Spray and Homeopathic HGH Formulas

Growth Hormones Direct releases tip sheet for identifying valid growth hormone spray and homeopathic HGH formulas.

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) September 29, 2010

Growth Hormones Direct (http://www. growthhormonesdirect. com) releases a tip sheet that can be used to identify valid growth hormone spray, homeopathic HGH formulas (http://www. growthhormonesdirect. com/buy-growth-hormone-hgh/index. php) and other naturopathic HGH based supplements. The wide number of options leaves many unsure in their process of looking for solutions to increase their health. Many people have no idea of how to differentiate between effective products and ineffective products.

Tip Sheet for Identifying Valid Growth Hormone Spray, Homeopathic HGH Formula, and naturopathic HGH based supplements (http://www. growthhormonesdirect. com/growth-hormone/growth-hormones-news/growth-hormones-direct-releases-tip-sheet-for-identifying-valid-growth-hormone-spray-and-homeopathic-hgh-formulas/):

1. Check for negative reviews or listings regarding the company online. A large number of negative reviews indicates a poor choice.

2. Do not be deceived by price. If the price of products are astronomical in comparison to the competition that does not mean it's a better product. It could just mean that they are ripping off their customers. If the price is shockingly low in comparison to the competition that does not mean it's a quality product with a discounted price. It could mean you will be getting a lower quality product.

3. Look for appropriate contact information. There should be a phone number in addition to online forms of contact.

4. Ask questions and make sure that there is a person available to provide you with answers

5. Order your HGH products from a site that offers plenty of information regarding the products, ease of use, industry knowledge, etc.

Dr. J. Ronald Willis of Growth Hormones Direct said, "It's not always easy to know which products are quality and which are low quality. But if you are able to get in touch with the distributor and ask questions about the production process, available instructions, etc. consumers can feel much more at ease with their choice."

Growth Hormones Direct urges consumers to watch 'Science…Meet Nature' as they reap the benefits of optimizing their hormone levels through proper use of the homeopathic growth hormone formula. Optimal hormone levels allow individuals to enjoy increased general health. Growth Hormones Direct is an Arizona based distributor of quality health foods, supplements, pharmaceuticals and neutraceuticals.
