Have mat. Will travel - this time for good vibes. Los Angeles, California based Health Habitravels Retreats and Journeys heads to Joshua Tree, California the weekend of October 15-18 for an ecclectic Desert Vibes Retreat

Have mat. Will travel - this time for good vibes. Los Angeles, California based Health Habitravels Retreats and Journeys heads to Joshua Tree, California the weekend of October 15-18 for an ecclectic Desert Vibes Retreat.

"Vibes" is Health Habitravels 6th retreat since founder Tannis Kobrinsky, a Los Angeles based Pilates/GYROKINESIS (r) teacher, led HHT's inaugural New Mexican Sojourn in July, 2003. In little over a year Tannis has conducted weekend California retreats in Cambria and Ojai, and longer journeys to Costa Rica, Peru and Bolivia. Vibes is the last offering on HHT's 2004 schedule, and for anyone into hiking desert-scapes, healing through sound and daily Pilates and yoga practice, this weekend shouldn't be missed.

(PRWEB) September 10, 2004

Tannis, a “people person” and veteran movement educator, with an adventurous spirit, inquiring mind and active body, created Health Habitravels in 2003 to integrate a variety pack of mind-body practices into restorative travels. Integrate daily mind-body practices, not only yoga, but also Pilates™ mat, water moves, and GYROKINESIS® (a meld of Qi Gong, Kundalini Yoga, and dance) into international eco-adventures – sacred journeys – cultural explorations & retreats, and you have Health Habitravels.

These are not yoga retreats designed for "yoga-heads. Don't expect to spend all day holding a pose and meditating. Do expect daily practice, but you'll be out of the studio more than in it. These are transforming retreats and and soft-adventures to amazing natural habitats and intriguing places that inquire into the peoples, histories and cultures of these lands. HHT offers healing mind-body-spirit global adventures that awaken and enrich participant's understanding of this incredible planet. The retreats are active, varied, and spiked with surprises. Belly Dancers, Shamans, Opera singers, stone throwing seers, you never know who might show up at one of these happenings. If you want a dose of nature how about waterfall hikes in Costa Rica, kayaking in Moro Bay, diving into a natural spring in Ojai or hiking to the Gate of the Sun at Machu Picchu.

The journeys are also educational, with guided tours provided by study leaders and local authorities on prehistory, history, natural history and science, spirituality, arts and culture. If there is a sacred site in the vicinity, expect to visit it; and if so-moved, you'll be able to participate in ancient dances, rituals and ceremonies.

There's also time on your own scheduled into each journey. Retreat and replenish is also part of the Health Habitravels equation. Spa facilities, some rustic, some lusciously world class are included on most HHT journeys. Lodgings run the gamut, from the transcendent joy of camping under the stars, to remote retreat centers, to the convenience and comfort of the best hotels regionally available.

But one of the biggest rewards are the new friendships you'll forge between adventurous spirits who share your interests. Expect to return home with fond memories and lasting friends. A number of Health Habitravels travelers have been on at least 2 of this years events. They're spreading the word, signing on for upcoming adventures, and bringing along friends.

Desert Vibes is scheduled for October 15-18, 2004 in California's Morengo Valley. Tannis picked The Twenty Palms Inn as headquarters. The Inn's historic and unique adobes and cabins circle around Mora Oasis. The Inn is right by an entrance to amazing Joshua Tree National Park, famous for Joshua Trees and out of this world rock formations. Vibes' schedule includes daily yoga, Pilates and GYROKINESIS®, hikes, Saturday attendance at the 5th annual Didgeridoo Festival, stargazing with telescope toting Los Angeles Natural History Museum science expert, and a meditative “group sound bath” in Landers at The Integratron. The weekend, like all Health Habitravel's is reasonably priced, ranging from $390-$550. Since it's already September you'll want to reserve ASAP to save a space for what's going to be yet another fabulous Health Habitravels getaway.

NHS Newham Deploys Aerohive’s Wireless LAN Across Borough

NHS Newham Deploys Aerohive’s Wireless LAN Across Borough

WLAN to Mobilize Healthcare Professionals & Accelerate Adoption of RiO

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) June 7, 2010

Aerohive Networks, creators of the award-winning cooperative control wireless LAN (WLAN) architecture, announced today that NHS Newham, which is responsible for the entire health budget of the London Borough of Newham, has implemented Aerohive’s controller-less WLAN infrastructure at its headquarters (HQ) and two polyclinics. Implemented and supported by Swiftpath Business Solutions and Networks First, the WLAN will help mobilize healthcare professionals and ensure the successful adoption of key initiatives such as utilization of referral based electronic applications, including RiO, and will eventually be rolled-out to the remaining 20 sites across the Borough as business demands dictate.

Aerohive's cooperative control HiveAPs require no network controllers or overlay networks. Instead, software in the HiveAPs enables them to self-organize into groups called Hives. The result is a secure multi-service WLAN infrastructure able to support a vast array of wireless devices, application types and service levels, with faster client performance, wire-like resilience and lower capital and operational costs.

Charles McNair, Director of Resources at NHS Newham said, “The mobilization of our healthcare professionals ensures patients have access to the right expertise on-demand. It is our job to ensure staff can access and update a patient’s records, or schedule a medical procedure, from any location, both securely and in real-time. Achieving this within a limited budget requires driving down capital and operational costs without compromising innovation and value. The wireless technologies from Aerohive can assist in this process.”

Paul Wrench, ICT Network Administrator, led the procurement process and comments that having previously deployed wireless networks, he was skeptical of finding an architecture that would provide a good user experience and reduce his costs.

“The challenges of wireless have centered on its complexity, reliability, and cost. With wireless fast becoming the primary network connection throughout NHS Newham, these issues had to be overcome. During the tender process, Aerohive stood head and shoulders above its competitors. The controller-less architecture, intuitive access points and central administration platform demonstrates this technology is designed simply to work, and doesn’t require tweaking or reconfiguration.”

By removing the need for controllers at each site, Wrench remarks that the economic argument was extremely compelling. “It simply wasn’t viable for us to deploy a controller and redundant controller at each site, nor, due to the critical nature of a healthcare environment, were we able to consider centralizing controllers. Aerohive’s technology allows us to minimize onsite infrastructure, bringing immediate CAPEX and OPEX savings, as well as reducing points of failure in the network.”

With only one HiveManager required to monitor up to 5,000 APs, as the network scales, investment is limited to just additional HiveAPs. Wrench and his team are also able to coordinate the entire network from a central location.

Says Wrench, “The platform is very impressive, and allows us to manage the network without going to individual sites. In the long-term, as we migrate to the Aerohive network across NHS Newham, this will massively reduce onsite maintenance, freeing us to focus on innovation and value-add activity. Furthermore, the controller-less architecture makes the network both flexible and easy to scale, without impeding performance or resilience.”

Shed Your Skin to a Fresher You

Shed Your Skin to a Fresher You

Wrinkles and spots are the price we now pay for those afternoons on the beach 20 years ago slathered in oil. Now with wrinkles, aging, and smoking lines we want to fix our faces. We want to shed our wrinkled, spotted skin and look fresher. Shedding the outer layer skin is like an animal shedding its skin. The peeling away the upper layer of skin helps unclogs our pores, remove toxins and when exfoliated and washed off, the newer and cleaner cells come to the fresh surface; leaving a soft, clean, fresher face. You can now do this at home using Five Star Nights anti-aging skin care line made only from organic and natural ingredients, no harsh chemical peels. You can even pronounce all the ingredients!

Tempe, Arizona (PRWEB) October 11, 2005

Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or a combination of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and BHAs, have appeared as ingredients in anti-aging skin care products. While both AHAs and BHAs act as exfoliants, AHAs are a group of weak organic acids, which easily penetrates the skin barrier. AHAs also have a moisturizing effect. By increasing the moisture content of upper skin layers, AHAs smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, as well as relieve dryness and flakiness.

Organic AHA ingredients: derived from fruit, sugar cane, and milk sugars and served up in creams and lotions. The most commonly used and most effective AHAs are glycolic and lactic acids. Both of these easily penetrate the skins surface, and they have the most accumulated research on their functionality and benefit for skin. Glycolic and Lactic acids dissolve the “skins cement” that binds the dead skin cells to the surface of your skin. The cells loosen and wash off or peel off. This allows the newer cells underneath to come to the surface. Eliminating dead skin can unplug pores, allow normal oil flow through and out of the pores, allows skin moisture by enhancing moisture uptake, and binds water to the skin.

AHAs and BHAs use a chemical process to penetrate the skin, versus salt and sugar scrubs that use friction and scrape the exposed area of skin. AHAs and BHAs only exfoliate, or remove the dead/damaged skin cells and leave the healthy skin cells alone. It is highly recommended using sunscreen as AHA causes skin sensitivity and you may burn easier. Wear a hat with a brim of at least 4 inches, long sleeve shirt, and sunscreen of SPF 15. AHA may cause irritation or redness.

Remember: Sun Protection used everyday is the Best Wrinkle Preventer.

DC Area Integrative Medicine Doctor to Join Medical Relief Mission in Haiti with Acupuncturists Without Borders

DC Area Integrative Medicine Doctor to Join Medical Relief Mission in Haiti with Acupuncturists Without Borders

Dr. David P. Sniezek, Director of the Advanced Integrative Rehabilitation and Pain Center, located at Foggy Bottom and McLean, Virginia, is a pioneer in Integrative Rehabilitation Medicine in the Washington, DC area. He uses Integrative Medicine methods, such as medical acupuncture, to prevent, reduce and soothe symptoms of patients with cancer.

Washington DC (PRWEB) May 7, 2010

Dr. David P. Sniezek, Director of the Advanced Integrative Rehabilitation and Pain Center (http://www. AdvancedIntegrativeRehabilitation. com) in the Washington, DC area, will be joining a medical relief mission headed to Haiti at the end of this month as part of Acupuncturists Without Borders. Dr. Sniezek will be a member of a small team of professionals providing relief from pain and post traumatic stress suffered as a result of the catastrophic earthquake that virtually leveled the capital city of Port-au-Prince last January.

A three-decade practitioner of integrative medicine, Dr. Sniezek is transforming the way doctors and hospitals approach rehabilitation medicine, including patients with cancer. Integrative medicine combines the best medical practices in both conventional and complementary medicine. Dr. Sniezek developed a start-up entity in Washington, DC called Syntegrative Solutions, LLC (http://www. syntegrativesolutions. com), which provides data and tools, research and identification of best medical practices, and peer insight to leaders in healthcare enterprises that aspire to incorporate integrative medicine into their communities. His company's scope of experience spans business, education, and government.

One of Dr. Sniezek's most recent local projects has been providing medical acupuncture at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Recent quality randomized control trials published in scientific journals has shown the benefits of medical acupuncture in many unexpected areas such as pain, nausea and vomiting, anxiety, xerostomia, and even hot flashes. The evidence is so convincing, that integrative medicine is increasingly offered by major cancer centers nationwide, including Dana - Farber, Mayo Clinic, M. D. Anderson: Place of Wellness, and Sloan-Kettering. All of these programs use medical acupuncture routinely. Dr. Weidong Lu, an acupuncturist at Harvard's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, recommends that medical acupuncture be used during all stages of cancer.

"Acupuncture has been shown to be safe in both healthy and unhealthy adults and children; however, special care must be taken when applying acupuncture to oncology patients in the hospital," says Dr. Sniezek. “It’s important that acupuncturists treating patients with cancer have advanced training in oncology. We need to continually assess advanced imaging studies, blood testing, and work closely with the entire oncology team to make certain acupuncture is safe and to optimize success.”

"My goal is to promote more widespread adoption of safe and effective integrative interventions, such as medical acupuncture, into the management of cancer," says Dr. Sniezek. “I hope to improve the overall cancer experience by reducing pain and suffering and maybe, in time, even affect outcomes.”

Dr. Sniezek will be in Haiti for the Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB) relief mission from May 20-29. AWB was formed in September, 2005 in the immediate aftermath of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. AWB provided free community acupuncture treatments to survivors of the hurricanes in Louisiana, including evacuees, residents, first responders, emergency personnel, volunteers and other care providers. AWB treated close to 8,000 individuals in New Orleans and the surrounding areas with a tremendously positive response and high demand to expand its services.

BOWA Sees Homeowners Increasingly Embracing Pet-Friendly Remodeling Options in Greater Washington, DC

BOWA Sees Homeowners Increasingly Embracing Pet-Friendly Remodeling Options in Greater Washington, DC

The management of BOWA (http://www. bowa. com), a home transformation company, is seeing a surge in pet-friendly remodeling requests among their pet-loving clients in greater Washington, D. C.

McLean, VA (PRWEB) April 16, 2010

The management of BOWA (http://www. bowa. com), a home transformation company, is seeing a surge in pet-friendly remodeling requests among their pet-loving clients in greater Washington, D. C.

"We're seeing a trend in the D. C. area of more homeowners modifying their homes to accommodate the comfort of their beloved pets and to create greater conveniences for their families," said Larry Weinberg, CEO of BOWA. "A survey found that 84 percent of pet owners say their pets make their home life healthier*, so considering pets' needs and the demands that go along with them, our clients are building special spaces for their furry friends that lead to more contained and convenient options for families."

With careful planning, there are many remodeling features that can be explored to ensure homes are more accommodating for pets and homeowners alike. They include:
Doggy showers with low-level, hand-held sprayers, are often located in mud rooms or garages. These spaces, often tiled and custom-painted to suit a pet's personality, make bathing or rinsing off muddy paws a breeze. Feeding stations can be built into a family's kitchen or mud room. Wall build outs accommodate feeding bowls and can include adequate space for the storage of food and other pet-related items, such as toys and medications. Some spaces even feature an installed water line that automatically refills the water bowl as needed. Litter boxes can be discretely located in custom cabinetry with whimsical, cat-shaped cutout entryways to help contain a kitty's potty area. Pet doors have become elaborate with options including French doors, screen door panels, and infrared and magnetic key options. Hideaways and sleeping areas can be built into laundry or foyer areas, creating peaceful and private spaces for pets to retreat. Windows are being designed to be located lower to flooring so pets have excellent outdoor views - complete with personalized 'pet seats' for four-legged friends to enjoy hours of "built-in" entertainment.

While some homeowners may be reluctant to remodel due to the impact of construction on their pet, BOWA personnel customize individual solutions for every client to guarantee their pet's space and comfort are optimally maintained throughout the entire home transformation process.

American Music Awards Carry Peacetoys In Their Gift Bags

American Music Awards Carry Peacetoys In Their Gift Bags

2006 American Music Awards has some Peacetoys in the gift bags. A Classic Hugg-A-Planet® Earth was selected by www. peacetoys. com to be included for this year's event. The performers for the 34th Annual American Music Awards will include Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Josh Groban, the Dixie Chicks, Nelly Furtado, the Pussycat Dolls, Rascal Flatts, Tenacious D, Snow Patrol and Carrie Underwood.

Essex Jct., VT (PRWEB) November 21, 2006

If Robert Forenza has his way, the 2006 American Music Awards guests will be hugging their planet for years to come. Forenza, president of www. peacetoys. com, has chosen a classic Hugg-A-Planet Earth toy to be included as a gift for this year's event. He hopes his gift will symbolize the need for us to care for our planet. "The world needs peace, now. Knowing that more culturally influential families are all hugging our planet will help bring closer a more peaceful and healthy world.

Music and musicians have a great deal of influence on our cultural values. Songs of peace, living for peace is what the Hugg-A-Planet® Earth is all about," says Forenza.

The Hugg-A-Planet Earth toy is no stranger to stardom. Named one of the 'Best 25 Toys for the Past 25 years' by the Parents' Choice Foundation and featured in both television and movies, this peace toy offers increased social awareness and promotes positive interactions between the people of the world.

"Our view of the world changed with the first image of the Earth, seen from the moon. The Hugg-A-Planet takes that unifying feeling one step further, by actually putting the world in your hands. When you hold the planet all by yourself, you can't help but understand the amount of social and environmental responsibility we all carry, and you can't help but understand the need to take action, now. We share this world, we share our destiny. We all are the solution. My goal in creating this soft earth is to remind others that peace and a healthy environment are needed. We can make it happen."

"Hugg-A-Planet Earth isn't just about awareness, it's about promoting peaceful change in the way we live our lives. The idea of 'hugging' or embracing the Earth is a symbolic way of opening up to others. A hug is a universal sign of affection, a sign of love, friendship, comfort, and caring. The experiences we have as young children help shape the rest of our lives, and instilling a love for the planet at a young age can have powerful effects on our future. Teaching children to love the planet is as important as learning to love each other."

The Classic Hugg-a-Planet® Earth is included in this year's 34th Annual American Music Awards gift bags on November 21, 2006 presented at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, Live Tuesday, November 21 (8:00-11:00 p. m., ET), on the ABC Television Network..

Health Crisis Within 15 Years Medical Experts Warn

Health Crisis Within 15 Years Medical Experts Warn

U. S. Surgeon General Warns Of Increased Incidence Of Osteoporosis And Low Bone Mass Among Older Americans.

(PRWEB) May 5, 2005

May is National Osteoporosis Awareness Month, an opportunity for health care providers to emphasize the importance of bone health, especially for Americans over 50.The first-ever U. S. Surgeon General's report on the topic of bone health released in October 2004, estimated roughly 1.5 million people a year suffer a bone fracture related to osteoporosis. The alarming news is that those who suffer these fractures are seldom tested for osteoporosis.

"....physicians who diagnose and treat fracturesŠare not evaluating patients with acute fractures for the presence of osteoporosis and are not prescribing calcium, vitamin D, or specific pharmacological therapy to reduce future fractures," said Dr. Marc Hochberg of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His comments were included in an article he co-authored for the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism in August 2003.

The members of the Mid Atlantic Osteoporosis Board are committed to educating physicians and the lay public on how to assess, diagnose and treat osteoporosis. According to Dr. Michael Bolognese, the board's chairman, "the board is entering its sixth year of existence and the members are more dedicated then ever. Today we see more primary care physicians involved in osteoporosis patient discussions and treatment than we did six years ago. However, fracture patients remain underdiagnosed and undertreated to prevent future fractures."

A recent analysis of the Pennsylvania Medicare drug benefit program from 1994 to 2000 supports this lack of attention to fractures. (American Journal of Medicine, October 2003) Over the 6 year study period 21,000 patients developed either a hip or wrist fracture. Forty nine (49) percent of the 21,000 had a prior fracture. Over time there was a slight increase in therapeutic intervention after fracture, but by the study end only 1 out of 5 patients were taking an osteoporosis medication in the six months following fracture. According to author Dr. Daniel Solomon, "It appears that many doctors and patients do not recognize that fracture is a key event that should alert us to the presence of osteoporosis, a condition with very effective treatment options."

To curb the osteoporosis "epidemic," doctors should order bone density scans for older Americans who suffer bone fractures. The bone mineral density test is a painless scan in which patients lie on a table and are scanned by a machine that measures spine and hip bone density. It takes about five to ten minutes and involves a very small amount of radiation. The National Osteoporosis Foundation provides these clear guidelines for physicians ordering a bone mineral density (BMD) test.

BMD testing should be performed on:

1. All women aged 65 and older regardless of risk factors.

2. Younger postmenopausal women with one or more risk factors (other than being white, postmenopausal, and female).

3. Postmenopausal women who have suffered fractures (to confirm diagnosis and determine disease severity)

Women over 50 years of age who suffer a bone fracture should request that their physicians order a bone mineral density test to determine if they have osteoporosis.

About Us: Established in 1999, the MAOB is a non-profit Maryland based 501(C)3 corporation comprised of specialists involved in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. Their commitment to the medical community is demonstrated through the provision of free Continuing Medical Education activities available in print and lecture format to over 15,000 physicians. Each innovation, whether it has large or small consequences, is another step in society's attempt to harness, adapt and utilize technology to change and improve our world. The World Economic Forum is invested in monitoring and highlighting these innovations and exploring possible societal repercussions.

“The creative innovations produced by our Technology Pioneers hold the promise of significantly affecting the way business and society operate,” said Peter Torreele, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum. “As a global knowledge hub, we see the Technology Pioneer community as key contributors to this dialogue and to the mission of the World Economic Forum.”

Nearly every product manufactured today requires a coating for durability and aesthetics. Current coating technologies present a bottleneck in the manufacturing process that is both costly and inefficient. One of this year’s Technology Pioneers, Ecology Coatings is a world leader in the development of high-performance, ultraviolet (UV) curable industrial coatings that address those limitations by requiring 99 percent less time to cure, cutting energy expenditures by 80 percent, and containing no liquid or polluting solvents. Based on a platform of proprietary nanoparticles, the coatings can be applied via conventional techniques to plastics, metals, composites, paper and more. As a result, Ecology Coatings’ technology is driving clean, efficient processes in conventional applications like automotive manufacturing, as well as enabling entirely new technologies in electronics and other sensitive applications.

“Innovations in the coatings industry are most often viewed as incremental and rarely revolutionary. Given that rather staid tradition, I am particularly pleased that this prestigious forum has recognized the value and significance of Ecology Coatings’ innovation, said Rich Stromback, CEO of Ecology Coatings. “Considering the implications for our coatings across manufacturing applications worldwide, our participation in The World Economic Forum presents an excellent opportunity to meet with thought-leaders and contribute to the global dialogue on technology innovation and commercialization.”

This latest honor from the World Economic Forum adds to a growing list of Ecology Coatings’ accolades for 2005 including: a Wall Street Journal Technology Innovator Award, TIME Magazine's Best Inventions, Red Herring’s Top 10 Clean Tech Companies to Watch, and one of five finalists in Small Times Magazine's Best of Small Tech Innovator Awards.

Each year, members, constituents and collaborators of the World Economic Forum nominate Technology Pioneers. The criteria for selection include:

1. Innovation. The company’s technology must be truly innovative. A new version or repackaging of an already well-accepted technological solution does not qualify as an innovation. The innovation should be recent – not more than two years old. The company should invest significantly in R&D.

2. Potential Impact. This company’s technology must have the potential to have a substantial long-term impact on business and society in the future.

3. Growth and Sustainability. The company should have all the signs of a long-term market leader and should have well-formulated plans for future development and growth.

4. Proof of Concept. The company must have a product on the market or have proven practical applications of the technology. Companies in “stealth” mode and companies with untested ideas or models will not qualify.

5. Leadership. The company must have visionary leadership that plays a critical role in driving the company towards reaching its goals.

6. Status. The company must not currently be a Member of the World Economic Forum. This criterion applies to the parent company – thus wholly-owned subsidiaries of large firms are not eligible.

Nominees are evaluated by an external review committee comprised of technology experts with respect to the criteria above.

The uniqueness of the Technology Pioneer network ensures that companies involved in the development of new technologies are engaged in an integrated and interdisciplinary way. The Technology Pioneers community will provide the Foundation and its members with in-depth knowledge of some of the key technology issues facing society.

The World Economic Forum (www. weforum. org), based in Geneva, Switzerland, is an independent organization committed to improving the state of the world. Funded by the contributions of 1,000 of the world's foremost corporations, the Forum acts in the spirit of entrepreneurship in the global public interest to further economic growth and social progress. The Forum serves its members and society by creating partnerships between and among business, political, intellectual and other leaders of society to define, discuss and advance key issues on the global agenda. Incorporated in 1971 as a foundation, the World Economic Forum is impartial and not-for-profit, and is tied to no political, partisan or national interests. Gano Cafe helps the body fight disease the way nature intended. Ganoderma Lucidum (the natural substance in all of Gano Excel's products) is said to help enhance health by removing toxins from the body and then building up the body's immune system.

Ganoderma Lucidum is the scientific name for a species of Red Mushrooms and is said to be more powerful than Ginseng. The United States is the world's largest consumer of coffee. The entire U. S. population consumes more than 500 million cups a day.

A typical cup of coffee contains approximately 138 mg of caffeine. The unique blend of ganoderma in this product neutralizes the caffeine dramatically to only 9 mg per cup, but still provides that "lift" and boost in energy that coffee drinkers are looking for, but without the caffeine jitters.

Each serving is individually and neatly packed making them great for travel or outdoor events. Simply pour contents of one package into a cup, mix with boiling water, stir and enjoy! Why Herbal Products DonÂ’t Work

Why Herbal Products DonÂ’t Work

The growing alternative health industry continues to fail to meet consumer product expectations. Shorter product lifecycles, fueled by "pop" product ingredients, has created companies that produce less effective products.

(PRWEB) October 30, 2004

The alternative health industry fails to meet consumer product expectations.

The “wagging tail” syndrome continues to drive new trendy herbal products to the market place based on popularized herbal ingredients. Formulas containing the newest pop ingredients are frequently shelved, following a short product lifecycle, when consumers move on to new “in-the-news” pop products.

Market share continues to drive industry “copy cats” mimicking temporarily successful product formulas. The surge of similarly branded products, flood the market to capture a share of revenue before the market shifts.

Many herbal product formulators and manufacturers business is based on “gearing up” for short product lifecycles and promotion strategies. Businesses following consumer trends heavily influenced by the news media, continue to fuel new product surges within the alternative health industry.

Non-mainstream herbal product ingredients are frequently ignored or forgotten. Surprisingly, many herbs that are not commonly used within popular formulas are better ingredient choices. There are 100Â’s of herbs with well documented chemical composition and know activities that are more effective for physical conditions or ailments.

Medicinal Remedies, a herbal research and product development company, has researched 1000Â’s of herbs to determine the best herbal ingredient sources according to identified individual herb chemical properties and activities.

Product formulation is the second step following in depth herb research and analysis, according to Garren, founder of Medicinal Remedies. com. “Our products are grounded in scientific research, fully tested, and guaranteed effective,” says Garren.

The goal of Medicinal Remedies. com is to produce highly effective 100% pure botanical products that are designed to treat specific conditions or ailments. Medicinal Remedies does not market generic products for general conditions.

Medicinal remedies embraces the philosophy “effective herbal product ingredients, matched to specific consumer conditions will produce long-term product and brand longevity.”

Father of Haiti Earthquake Survivor Contacts the Surgeon Who Operated on His Daughter

Father of Haiti Earthquake Survivor Contacts the Surgeon Who Operated on His Daughter

Volunteer surgeons who serve in disaster areas do not expect to later hear from patients they helped. But, Gaston Mydream, a beautiful eight year old girl from Haiti proved otherwise.

Oklahoma City, OK (Vocus) October 5, 2010

Oklahoma Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Houshang Serdage, with the Orthopedic Institute (http://www. ortho-ok. com), was one of the early volunteer surgeons, who flew to Haiti on his own, right after the earthquake. Dr. Seradge operated on many victims of the earthquake, under difficult conditions, as an equipment garage had been converted to a hospital wing. Gaston Mydream was one of the patients he treated.

Gaston lost her Mother, her house and everything she had in the earthquake. Her loving Father carried Gaston for several miles to seek help for his daughter. She had lost a large portion of her calf, which had been bandaged at a Red Cross first aid tent. Her Father was frightened that her badly infected right leg might have to be amputated. Dr. Seradge performed several operations on her leg and was eventually able to save her leg.

During the time that Dr. Seradge cared for Gaston, he grew very fond of the little girl and her Father. They lost everything they owned and had been sleeping on the ground, without a roof over their heads. When it came time for them to leave, Dr. Seradge and his assistant gave them what they had; dried rice and beans, a tent, towels and blankets. Neither Gaston nor her Father spoke English. Her Father, a proud, giant man, conveyed his feelings with tear filled eyes and heartfelt gestures, murmuring in broken English, “Thank You.”

“One of the hard things to cope with after treating so many earthquake victims, is not knowing what happened to them after they left our care,” said Dr. Seradge. “You share your life with them and feel their misery. You become attached to your patients and you don’t know how they are doing, physically or emotionally, so it was exciting to have recently received an email and pictures from Gaston’s father. He thanked us for how we cared for his daughter and sent his prayers and blessings.” Gaston’s cousin, who knows how to use the internet, wrote, “she can’t stop thanking Dr. Seradge and says to her Father, “when will Dr. Seradge be back in Haiti?” “I am humbled and thrilled to know that they are doing OK and hope that some day I will be able to visit them," added Dr. Seradge.

The Orthopedic Institute (OI), founded in 1980, by Dr. Houshang Seradge is one of Oklahoma City’s most comprehensive orthopedic care centers, in a single location. Orthopedic Institute’s physicians are on the leading edge of their respective fields in orthopedics, rheumatology, neurology and pain management. OI treats all musculoskeletal conditions through the use of the most advanced techniques in orthopedic care. Physicians at OI are dedicated to helping patients return to a healthy life style.
