St. Mary Medical Center Circle of Caring Foundation Selects Gary Hubbell Consulting for Strategic Planning Services

St. Mary Medical Center Circle of Caring Foundation has retained the services of Gary Hubbell Consulting as it embarks on its first strategic planning process.

Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) May 3, 2007

St. Mary Medical Center Circle of Caring Foundation has retained the services of Gary Hubbell Consulting as it embarks on its first strategic planning process.

Founded in 1880 by the Sisters of Providence, St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington has grown to become a full-service, non-profit hospital with a long tradition of excellence in caring. In 2007 it became one of only 16 hospitals in the United States to receive top 100 hospital designations both for patient care, safety and organizational excellence as well as for maintaining low health care prices for patients.

With a strong and robust St. Mary Medical Center soon to complete its own planning process, Circle of Caring Foundation board and staff decided to initiate their own comprehensive planning process to chart direction for the next three to five years. Gary Hubbell Consulting will design and facilitate planning discussions, as well as conducting constituent and marketplace giving research.

Dennis Maughan, Director of Development, said "As our foundation board began the task of identifying firms to assist us in our strategic planning process, I remembered hearing a great presentation from Gary Hubbell given at our annual philanthropy director's conference. Gary came highly recommended by several other hospital foundation directors. We especially were impressed with his comprehensive planning process and ability to quickly relate to board and community members."

Gary Hubbell, principal strategist of Gary Hubbell Consulting, provides high-level consulting to mission-driven organizations in planning, adaptation strategies, and resource development. He is passionate about partnering with business leaders to transform organizations -- applying his research and experience to help define and strategically achieve goals.

With almost thirty years experience helping nonprofit organizations fulfill their missions, Hubbell is well positioned to assist SMMC and the Circle of Caring Foundation as it embarks on this process. With Gary Hubbell Consulting's guidance the foundation will have a clear map to follow, creating focus and energy around the work to be done. Speed of decision making will increase, improving foundation agility in support of the hospital.

In addition to Hubbell's work serving as counsel and coach to organizations across the country, he is an active author and speaker. His independent research resulted in the publication of his first book, Forces of Change: The Coming Challenges in Hospital Philanthropy (Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, 2005). Recent articles on other topics have recently appeared in the magazines of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).

Gary Hubbell Consulting works with organizations on the cusp of doing great things - retooling business income and philanthropy strategies; engaging board members and community in unprecedented ways; raising more money than ever before. Prominent Afro-Latino Pastor to be Installed into Office of Bishop

Prominent Afro-Latino Pastor to be Installed into Office of Bishop

Installation of Afro-Latino, Mega-Church Pastor Johnathan Alvarado as Bishop of Church Network Will Make an Immediate Impact Throughout Local, National, and International Communities

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 28, 2006

On Saturday, June 10th, 2006 at 11A. M., Johnathan Alvarado, the Senior Pastor of Total Grace Christian Center in the cities of Decatur and Rex, Georgia, will be installed as the Presiding Bishop of the Grace Fellowship of Churches. This Holy Consecration service will be held at 4000 Covington Highway in Decatur, Georgia at the World Headquarters of Total Grace Christian Center and will be attended by hundreds of supportive bishops, pastors, elected officials, and other well-wishers from throughout Atlanta and around the world. This community-wide event is open to the general public and signals a significant shift in the life of a prominent pastor whose churches have transformed blighted communities into beacons of hope. Leaders from throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Central America, India, and Africa will now have much greater access to training and support because of this move. Furthermore, this installation will make Bishop-Elect Alvarado one of the most prominent religious leaders with Latin heritage in the United States at a time of critical importance for all recent American immigrants.

As the Founding Bishop of the Grace Fellowship of Churches, Johnathan Alvarado will oversee and advise a diverse international network of para-church ministries, pastors, and congregations that all hold similar principles and values as those Alvarado has demonstrated as a local pastor. Included among these values is an emphasis on sound biblical teaching, intimate praise and worship, training and academic preparation, and healthy family and professional lives.

For years, Alvarado was reluctant to embrace requests from various denominations that he serve as a bishop because of what he perceived to be an insincere clamoring for titles and power with no real accountability on the part of too many charismatic, Pentecostal pastors. “Leadership without accountability is very dangerous. As a bishop in the Lord’s church I not only have men and women that are accountable to me, but I am a man under authority as well. I take very seriously this challenge before me,” stated Bishop-Elect Alvarado.

Bishop Alfred A. Owens, Vice Bishop of the Mount Calvary Holy Churches of America and Senior Pastor of Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church in Washington, DC will serve as the Chief Consecrator for this service alongside Bishop J. Delano Ellis of Cleveland, Ohio, Bishop Clifford Frazier of St. Louis, Missouri, Bishop Eric Garnes of Brooklyn, New York, and Apostle LaFayette Scales of Columbus, Ohio.

Bishop-Elect Johnathan and Co-Pastor Toni Alvarado launched Total Grace Christian Center in Decatur, GA in 1992 with less than 20 members. Total Grace now has nearly 5000 members and dozens of unique ministries in its Decatur and Rex, GA locations. Total Grace plans to launch a third, Gwinnett County location in 2007.

Busting Out of High Cholesterol!

Busting Out of High Cholesterol!

A lifetime (6.5 decades) of high cholesterol failed to yield to any of a wide variety of natural supplementation and dietary factors. Although standard medical practice involving a "statin" cholesterol-lowering drug was effective, there was always a concern about side effects caused by pharmaceutical drugs. Thus it was a delightful surprise to learn that, in this instance, the consideration that genes might be he culprit here was NOT valid, and that the long-term diagnosis of "High Cholesterol" has yielded to a natural supplementation program which involved alkalinizing one's diet. The latter approach to health has been well-documented, over and over, to create an environment within human cells that does not permit the continued existence of, or the development of, disease. Thus the information contained in this release can lead others to consider the same information which can also be of benefit, including the potential either to improve one's health status or possibly even to reverse disease.

(PRWEB) November 4, 2004

Manhattan Beach, California. Cholesterol, not June, is busting out all over!

Yes, high cholesterol, in my lifetime, has always been attributed to genes (in my mind). All efforts at natural supplementation never brought down total cholesterol into the normal range. The best reading, with natural supplementation, was in the 220s (below 200 is considered normal).

The total cholesterol high was 304, and most often it was in the 260-270 range. Once, with natural supplementation that included those items listed below minus the greens, it was possible to lower the finding to 199 (1 point under suggested "normal" range). But this was a solitary finding, and it was never possible to lower the total cholesterol further down into the normal range.

One study showed that if high cholesterol is a solitary finding, then by age 70 it becomes less concerning. Having passed the half-way mark in the decade leading to that age, it seemed that some comfort might be achieved from such a report.

So, it always seemed, the high cholesterol was in the gene pool, and that was that. Not so!

Most recently, I have been privileged to consume Plasma Activated Water (PAW) for which I received permission to publish the following: "A Case Report on the Effects of Consumption, Cessation of Consumption, and Reintroduction of Plasma Activated Water (PAW)" found here: http://www. prweb. com/releases/2004/6/prwebxml127499.php (http://www. prweb. com/releases/2004/6/prwebxml127499.php)

Thinking that the fairest test of all would be to consume ONLY PAW and see if that affected the cholesterol, when an opportunity arose to discontinue ALL supplementation for over one month, it was possible to have a "clean reading" with a fasting lipid profile blood draw.

Result? The cholesterol shot way back up to 267!

So PAW alone does not do it. Back to the drawing board.

Following the one-month-plus hiatus drinking only PAW with no natural supplementation whatsoever, I engaged in an active walking exercise program (nearly daily) and reintroduced the following supplement regimen under the supervision of our family naturopathic ("environmental physician") doctor:

Red Yeast, Omega-3, Fiber, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Supreme Greens, Coral Calcium, Multivitamins, Boluoke (an “Oral Fibrinolytic Agent” or fibrin decreasing supplement).

Result? Weight loss (15 pounds so far).

For the first time in my life (65+ years) the cholesterol dropped down well into the normal range! Yes Normal! Down to 189! 10 points lower than it had ever been! A first! Why?

Gene Theory: Out the window.

What is new in the supplementation? The Supreme Greens with MSM by Dr. Alex Guerrero, Health Solutions (http://www. hsnow. com/abc4all (http://www. hsnow. com/abc4all)).

All of the supplements -- other than the greens -- I had taken prior to this turning point hallmarked by a steeper drop into the so-called "normal" cholesterol range. This time I had introduced something new -- the greens -- and had worked up to two of the three recommended servings a day. These greens are the equivalent of eating 20 times as much vegetables! That's a 20:1 ratio, so with three servings a day, it would be the equivalent of consuming a great deal of vegetable content, causing the body to "alkalinize."

So even without the recommended daily allotment of three servings of the greens, it was possible to lower the cholesterol further into the normal range with this newly introduced natural food supplement.

Good-bye statin drugs!

Yes, a physician (not holistic) had recommended Pravachol, one of the statin cholesterol-lowering medications, some years ago that did get my cholesterol reading down, but I was always concerned about side effects from pharmaceuticals. Here only through NATURAL supplementation (the equivalent of eating vegetables), it was possible to get rid of that lifetime diagnosis (sentence?) of "High Cholesterol" as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

To boot, the "good" cholesterol has increased, and the "bad cholesterol" has decreased (30%!). The latter is now 1 point above the normal range.

PLAN: Continue to exercise. Continue the above natural supplementation regimen, changing it only by adding a third serving of Dr. Guererro's Supreme Greens each day.

Read all about it! Alkalinize Your Way to Health! Just go to http://www. hsnow. com/abc4all (http://www. hsnow. com/abc4all) and click on "LIBRARY."

Next cholesterol reading: January 2005.

But it is not necessary to wait till 01/05 to draw a safe conclusion: What may seem to be a recalcitrant issue in one's health does not have to mean a life sentence! Yes, even when it may be viewed that a problem or concern is chronic, resistant to change, it ainÂ’t necessarily so. There is always hope.

MORAL: Keep your options open, keep trying, and if you do not succeed, try and try again. Persistence can be a virtue! Even if it takes 6-1/2 decades!

Good-bye High Cholesterol!

Each day, your system is challenged by factors that rob you of valuable nutrients, undermining your health, damaging your skin and making weight management a struggle. When your body’s nutritional needs are not met, your health suffers.

It can be a daunting task to ensure you are getting the essential vitamins and minerals necessary for optimal health in the right balance every day. The fall and winter months are prime time for colds and the flu. With children back in school and people spending increased time indoors in close proximity, diseases are more likely to spread. Below are some answers your questions about what you can do to stay healthy during the winter months.

Q: What Herbalife products can I use to boost my immune system?

A: Germs have a better chance of infecting us when the immune system is weakened by stress, lack of sleep and environmental toxins. RoseOx®, Schizandra Plus and Ocular Defense Formula dietary supplements may help support your body’s natural defenses to protect good health all year long.*

Q: How do RoseOx®, Schizandra Plus, and Ocular Defense Formula work?

A: All three supplements function as antioxidants.* They help protect our body from damage at the cellular level by neutralizing “free-radical” molecules that may be caused by air pollution, UV rays, tobacco smoke, saturated fats and stress.* Protecting the body from free radicals helps to support immune function.*

Q: How much of each supplement should I take?

A: With the cold and flu season starting in late August, early September and lasting through March, we recommend one tablet each daily for RoseOx® and Ocular Defense Formula. For Schizandra Plus, we recommend one tablet two times per day. A healthy diet in combination with these supplements can help to support immune function.*

Water For People CEO Challenges Conventional Wisdom and Calls for Transformative Change

Water For People CEO Challenges Conventional Wisdom and Calls for Transformative Change

Ned Breslin, the outspoken CEO of Water For People, is calling for transformative change in the water and sanitation sector, and he is starting with his own organization. In his January 2010 essay “Rethinking Hydro-Philanthropy: Smart Money for Transformative Impact,” Breslin outlines key steps that donors, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), local governments and communities should take to create sustainable change with long term benefits.

Denver, CO (Vocus) January 30, 2010 –

Ned Breslin (http://www. waterforpeople. org/nedbreslin), the outspoken CEO of Water For People, is calling for transformative change in the water and sanitation sector, and he is starting with his own organization.

In his January 2010 essay “Rethinking Hydro-Philanthropy: Smart Money for Transformative Impact (http://www. waterforpeople. org/hydrophilanthropy),” Breslin outlines key steps that donors, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), local governments and communities should take to create sustainable change with long term benefits.

Expanding upon controversial observations such as those by Nicholas Kristof and David Brooks of the New York Times, Breslin goes where few not-for-profit CEOs dare to go—laying bare all the secrets and shortcomings of today’s charity-based approach in the water and sanitation sector, as well as suggesting guidelines for transformative change.

The essay focuses on his own organization’s shortcomings, providing a first-hand account on what works and what doesn’t work—both short-term and long term. Breslin shows how a well meaning nonprofit like Water For People can move from feel-good, simplistic interpretations and communications on success to a more profound and thoughtful organization that challenges itself by asking far harder, long-term impact questions.

Key points of the report include:
Currently, the overriding approach in the sector is of welfare and charity rather than development. This approach leads to poor project implementation which leads to high rates of failure.  NGOs must develop the time, patience and understanding of community development to establish the foundation for success.  Until now, “sweat equity” has been considered sufficient contribution from communities. But it is not enough to create a sense of ownership to ensure long term success of projects.  New philanthropic giving strategies could play a significant role in eliminating water and sanitation poverty by basing themselves on a robust set of sustainability metrics.  A new partnership between philanthropists and development agencies needs to focus on leveraging creative philanthropic giving to instill financial responsibilities on communities and governments in developing countries.  A new culture of accountability and transparency that transcends what currently masquerades as “reporting” in the sector must emerge.  Investors, who employ stringent due diligence when selecting for-profit ventures, should use those same requirements when considering their philanthropic donations.  New measurements should go beyond counting number of people served in a given year to include the percentage of projects that are fully functional and self-sufficient at 3, 6 and 10 years.

Please note: This essay focuses on the water and sanitation sector. Certainly, there are other sectors where this would not apply, such as advanced or complex health care. And there are situations, such as humanitarian relief (Eastern Congo) and failed states (Somalia) where this approach would not be appropriate even for the water and sanitation sector.

EMMC Reports on Byetta's Patient Results 11 Months After FDA Approval

EMMC Reports on Byetta's Patient Results 11 Months After FDA Approval

Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly are the makers of Byetta, a federally-approved injectible by prescription-only drug that has been in use by our diabetic patients since its release in 2005. Prior to Byetta's release, the most popular option for diabetics was insulin. It still is, but it may not be for long.

Redwood City, CA (PRWEB) March 30, 2006

Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly are the makers of Byetta, www. byetta. com, a federally-approved injectible by prescription only drug that has been in use by our diabetic patients since its release in 2005. Prior to it's release, the most popular option for diabetics was insulin. It still is, but it may not be for long. Exenatide, a protein--and Byetta's active ingredient, was initially found in lizard's saliva (the Gila Monster). The breakthrough finding identified exenatide as a hormone mimicking a human hormone called GLP-1, responsible for stimulating digestion and insulin production, the functions of which are compromised in diabetic patients.

There are 21 Million Americans with diabetes and about 90% of them are Type 2, which is often associated with obesity. What worries experts most is the pre-diabetic epidemic. The United States Department of Health and Human Services reported in April 2004 that there are 41 Million people in the United States who are pre-diabetic (a low level of insulin resistance).

How is Byetta helping resolve this problem?

A trend we are seeing is overweight patients without a diabetes diagnosis seeking Byetta as a weight loss option. While we agree that there are concerns Byetta will be used as a weight loss drug, a use that has not been medically tested, we are taking a new and safe approach. We run a variety of tests (CGMS, C-Peptide & HBAIC) and are finding that their level of insulin resistance warrants a "pre-diabetic" or diabetic diagnosis.

An area of controversy is the actual definition of pre-diabetes. The American Diabetes Association in November of 2003 changed the definition of pre-diabetes to one that indicates fasting glucose numbers between 100-125 mil/per DECL.

At EMMC, a combination of tests is recommended to accurately assess an individual's level of insulin resistance (CGMS, CPeptide and HBAIC). Results of one test alone may not give an accurate assessment of the compromised metabolism.

Eleven months later, Byetta is meeting our expectations for better glucose control and weight loss in Type 2 Diabetics. While you may have read that Byetta can cause low blood sugar episodes (hypoglycemia) our patient population is reporting this side effect in small numbers. To date, Byetta is giving patients better blood sugar control (indicated by CGMS Values) and is stil less likely to cause low blood sugar when compared to insulin. Approximately 20% of our patients report Byetta cause them to feel nausea. For some of them, it subsides, but for others, the side effect of nausea will persist, making Byetta a poor choice for them. The majority of our patients are losing weight and when the scale does not indicate it, measurements indicate they are losing inches. Many of our patients report having more energy and strength than they have had in years. Another benefit of this weight loss is that it reduces risks of other diabetic complications (high blood pressure, blindness, neuropathy, kidney failure, etc.) contributing to overall well-being.

Other versions of Byetta are currently being tested, including one to be used only once a week, a nice contrast to the current twice daily injection.

Investors Should Look to Sector Rotation for Returns

Investors Should Look to Sector Rotation for Returns

During times of economic recovery, stock market investors can use the phenomena of "sector rotation" to enhance their returns. Sector rotation is a pattern where certain sectors lead the investment markets during different phases of the economic recovery and then rotate to another sector during the next phase of the economic recovery.

(PRWEB) November 5, 2003

Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) November 3, 2003 -- In times of economic recovery, investors can often take advantage of investment opportunities through "sector rotation" according to Robert H. Graham, President, Riggs Asset Management Company. That is to say, that historically, certain sectors of the equity markets get "boosts" during each phase of the economic recovery. During the early stages of an economic recovery the more cyclical and/or speculative sectors (such as technology) take the lead in the equity markets as investors anticipate better times ahead. The steadier and less economically sensitive sectors (such as health care and consumer staples) will tend to lag during the early stages of economic recovery but as the recovery matures the leadership roles will reverse or "rotate" and the steadier sectors will pick up steam.

The savvy investor can anticipate this rotation and take advantage of investment opportunities. The below chart illustrates the boosts in the Information Technology, Financials, and Consumer Discretionary sectors over the last 10 months.

PERCENTAGE RETURN CONTRIBUTION 12/31/2002 - 10/31/2003

Sector*  S&P 500 Large Cap S&P 400 Mid Cap S&P 600Small Cap

Information Technology 30%  24% 26%

Financials 24%  17% 13%

Consumer Discretionary 21%  20% 31%

Industrials 11%  13% 12%

Health Care  4%  17% 10%

Consumer Staples  3%  4%  1%

Energy  3%  0%  2%

Materials  3%  0%  3%

Utilities  2%  4%  2%

Telecomm. Services -1%  0%  0%

Total  100% 100%  100%

Riggs Asset Management Co., Inc.

This sector rotation may especially be true in the Large Cap area where money will tend to flow to perceived "safer havens" as the bull market matures. As a result, investors may want to anticipate the sector rotation and identify those sectors likely to lead the pack during the next phase of economic recovery.

For additional information on sector rotation, please contact Robert Graham, President, Riggs Asset Management at 570-823-3383. Family groups, trusts, and institutions retain Riggs to provide investment management and guidance.

Study Shows EQ Cures Hangover Symptoms Significantly

Study Shows EQ Cures Hangover Symptoms Significantly

In a study conducted by independent researchers, results show that EQ, FLAVORX's new effervescent energy tablet, reduces the symptoms associated with over-consumption of alcoholic beverages. With essential vitamins and memory-enhancing gingko biloba, EQ proves to be a safe and healthy solution that reduces hangover pain as well as provides a quick energy boost.

Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) January 17, 2006

In a recent study, researchers found that EQ, FLAVORx, Inc.'s new and innovative, unique effervescent energy tablet, not only offers a great boost of energy but also cures hangover symptoms significantly. A test group of 20 individuals aged 22-62 was assembled on New Years Eve 2006 to test the validity that EQ cures the majority of hangover symptoms. The blend of essential vitamins and energy components allows EQ to reduce alcohol toxicity and combat the harmful effects of indulgent alcohol consumption. According to FLAVORx President and CEO, Kenny Kramm, “We wanted to show consumers that EQ is not just your typical energy boost. Because it’s vitamin-packed and completely safe, it’s actually a great way to start leading a healthy and productive lifestyle.”

We have all felt the effects of the infamous and torturous morning after that all too crazy night out—the pounding headache, the nausea, the 10-fold decibel increase of the sounds around you… but what’s really happening to your body? You might not want to hear exactly what is going on in your body to cause these symptoms but it is best that you stay well informed. Research shows that the body’s reaction to large doses of alcohol conjures up such effects as: dehydration and loss of vitamins and minerals, low blood sugar, delayed digestion and increased gastric acid buildup, decrease in kidney re-absorption and a buildup of fatty acids and lactic acids in the liver. All in all, it’s not a good combination.

Alcohol consumption depletes and destroys B group vitamins in the body. These vitamins play an essential role in metabolism, water retention and energy, however the body cannot store most B vitamins, and therefore they must be replenished immediately if lost from the body. EQ contains a mix of B group vitamins that includes B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine) and B12 (cyanocobalamin). Specifically, vitamins B5 and B6 promote metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats to promote liver function and produce energy, which is especially vital to combat the effects of too much alcohol intake. Furthermore, as a whole, the B vitamin complex functions to assist in the formation of red blood cells and brain chemicals and production and maintenance of body cells, as well as elevate mental ability, brain processes and immune function.

One tablet in 8 ounces of water after a party, before going to bed and one more tablet in 8 ounces of water first thing when you wake up is the best way to cure hangover symptoms. The unique effervescence of EQ allows for uptake of essential vitamins and minerals into the bloodstream faster than pills because ingredients are in liquid form and absorbed by the body more rapidly. Additionally, respondents in the study felt that the effervescence of the tablet helped settle the stomach the morning after. Furthermore, EQ’s ginkgo biloba and caffeine allows the body to feel more refreshed by clearing a fuzzy head and increasing energy. One EQ user claimed, “Wow that was amazing how quickly that worked. All of the nasty symptoms I usually get from overindulging just went away!”

A test group of 10 male and female individuals of various ages were directed to use one EQ in 8 ounces of water when returning from their New Years Eve celebrations and then were directed to use one more EQ tablet in 8 ounces of water as soon as they got up the next morning when symptoms are usually the worst, while a similar group of 10 did not. Respondents who took EQ felt an immediate reduction in hangover symptoms, and experienced a much quicker recovery and faster road to feeling refreshed and back to normal than those in the control group. The control group reported nausea, headache, increased sensitivity to sound and light, dry mouth, dizziness and a general sluggishness. Although there is no fool-proof hangover cure for every person and every symptom, these studies show that EQ is effective at getting people of all ages back on their feet much more rapidly.

Vircom Warns About Tsunami Aid Scams

Vircom Warns About Tsunami Aid Scams

Email fraudsters bilk tragedy victims out of much-needed financial donations

Montreal (PRWEB) January 16, 2005

Vircom Inc., developer of Modus™ secure email management solutions, warns email users about fraudulent donation requests for victims of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunamis of December 26, 2004.

"We have seen an alarming number of fraudulent emails requesting money for survivors," said Marc Chouinard, head of Vircom's SpamBuster team. "The best way to avoid a scam is to donate directly through a well-known organization rather than forwarding money to an address or bank account provided in an unsolicited email."

To help people avoid being defrauded, the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), established jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), offers this advice on avoiding relief-effort email scams:

Do not respond to any unsolicited (SPAM) incoming emails;

Be skeptical of individuals claiming to be surviving victims or foreign government officials asking for help in placing large sums of money in overseas bank accounts;

To ensure that contributions to U. S.-based non-profit organizations are used for intended purposes, go directly to recognized charities and aid organizations websites, as opposed to following a link to another site;

Try to verify the legitimacy of non-profit organizations (e. g., use Internet-based resources to help confirm the existence of the organization and its non-profit status);

Be leery of emails that claim to show pictures of the disaster areas in attached files, as the files may contain viruses. Only open attachments from known senders.

Anyone interested in sending a financial contribution to help tsunami victims should donate directly through a reputable international aid organization, such as those listed below:

National Coalition for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans to Convene in DC to Improve Care for Military and Veteran Community, Families, and Survivors

National Coalition for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans to Convene in DC to Improve Care for Military and Veteran Community, Families, and Survivors

Open to the public May 7th

Washington, DC (Vocus) April 22, 2009

The Coalition for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans (http://coalitionforveterans. org/ciav/home/) (CIAV) is hosting a national conference in Washington, DC from May 5-8, 2009. Service providers, veterans, families, survivors and advocates will share cutting edge expertise to improve the quality and quantity of support for the military and veteran community.

The CIAV is comprised of 52 agencies, located across the country, that are serving Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and families. The goal of the CIAV conference is to build partnerships with the non-profit community, Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and Federal Government to ensure the well-being of military, veterans families, and survivors.

"The Coalition is working to find solutions to make sure that those affected by our current wars do not fall through the cracks," said Amy Fairweather, director of the CIAV. "No single organization can provide all of the support necessary to the military and veteran community. We all have a part to play - that is why non-profits who are on the frontlines every day are vital to the health and well being of our nation's military, veterans and their families," Fairweather said.

Conference attendees will develop strategies to increase funding and access to support as more service members return from combat. Coalition members will discuss ways to continue to provide services in the suffering economy and to sustain services as the need increases. In addition, the conference participants champion community and government collaboration to most effectively and efficiently serve our military and veterans (http://coalitionforveterans. org/ciav/home/). To that end, the CIAV will host a Roundtable Discussion on May 6th with representatives from the VA, DoD, Congress and key administrative organizations.

At the conference, Coalition members will share their expertise in areas from state-of-the-art mental health treatment to services for children of deployed parents to current military/veteran initiatives at the federal level. The conference will be open to the public at no cost on May 7th and attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the impact of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Planned panels on this day include: Outreach and Support for Military Children; Economic Welfare: Access to Benefits, Housing and Employment; Public, Private and Community Partnerships; Post Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and Pain: Treating the Whole Person; and Peer Support: Helping Each Other Find a Way Home.

The Night Shift May Lead to Family Nightmares

The Night Shift May Lead to Family Nightmares

For some families, night and weekend shifts may strain the well-being of both parents and children.

Malden, MA (PRWEB) April 14, 2006

In the current issue of the Journal of Marriage and Family, researchers examine our 24-hour economy and the effect of its need for workers 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. They find that unsociable work times (hours during evenings, weekends, or nights) are associated with poorer mental health in parents and more social and emotional difficulties in children. Compared with families where both parents work standard daytime hours, families where fathers work nonstandard hours show worse family functioning and more hostile and ineffective parenting. When it is mothers who work these hours, there is also worse family functioning, more hostile and ineffective parenting, and more parent distress. The most problematic family environments occur when both parents work nonstandard hours.

The study compared more than 4,000 dual-earner households with children between 2 and 11 years old. The authors measured child difficulties (e. g. the inability to concentrate or hostility to their peers), family functioning (e. g. emotional involvement and problem solving), parent depressive symptoms, and ineffective parenting. The effects were similar whether the mother or father worked non-standard hours. But these associations were stronger in households with preschool-aged children compared to those homes with school-aged children. In the past, nonstandard work schedules had been viewed as part of job flexibility that was potentially family friendly. The findings from this research pose a challenge to that assumption. “Work in the evenings, nights, and weekends can make it harder to maintain family rituals, routines, and social activities that are important for closeness,” the authors explain.

This study is published in the May issue of the Journal of Marriage and Family. Media wishing to receive a PDF of this article please email.

Business Association in Denver Invites Award-winning Author of ColorAlchemy to Provide Motivation to Energize Performance and Stimulate Success Using the Color Red

Business Association in Denver Invites Award-winning Author of ColorAlchemy to Provide Motivation to Energize Performance and Stimulate Success Using the Color Red

Over one-hundred business owners learned the secrets of how the color red helps seize opportunities and motivate persistence.

Lanham, MD (Vocus) August 24, 2009

Rooted in Newtonian and quantum science, ancient spiritual and healing traditions, and clinical studies, color therapy provides time-tested results for mind, body, and spirit wellness (http://www. pr-promopro. com/Media/Ideas/spirit. php). The award-winning book ColorAlchemy (http://www. coloralchemy. com/), by Jami Lin teaches people how to harness a daily color to make improvements in their lives.

BHS, the association of professional, business owners in Denver, Colorado experienced how red helps motivate business success. "Incorporating a little red in your office motivates getting down to business with a roll-up-your-sleeve attitude," said Lin. "Start you week with a red mind set and get up and seize opportunity." "Red strengthens Monday, the get-up-and-go day. Red is the color for greater physical vitality, stamina and strength."

"Following the sequence and simplicity of a rainbow, linking the essential, seven attributes of all human need and desire is as easy as remembering the days of the week." "No professional color therapy (http://www. coloralchemy. com/) required, just simple-to-incorporate habits. By merely thinking about the color of day and its respective attributes, the ultimate goal becomes automatic. The mind instantly calls upon the color attribute that is needed, and with its conditioned benefits, favorably shifts any circumstance."

Practicing is ColorAlchemy is easy; integrate color in the conscious mind by strengthening red attributes such as vitality on Monday. Tuesday, creatively incorporate more orange for pleasure. Command yellow on Wednesday for confidence. Trust green on Thursday for deepening love. Focus on blue on Friday for clarity. Connect with indigo on Saturday for awaking intuition and find inner peace with violet on Sunday for spiritual connection. "Automatically, the 7 Days and 7 Colors easily convert into 7 Triumphs."

As Lin presented ColorAlchemy, she suggested that the audience incorporate the other aspects of red to holistically support business through all life aspects. Red represents the root chakra, which is located closest to the ground at the base of the spine. Associated body parts include bones, spinal column, arms, legs, feet, teeth, nails, anus, prostrate and adrenal glands, and the immune system.

People who are weak in the red color tend to have problems with health and concerns about money. They tend to live-in-the-clouds with less security and stability in their lives. A lack of red is also indicated by a lack of common sense, insecurity, and instability, as well as a lack of responsibility or physical vitality.

People lacking in red tend to have problems with their weight, including obesity, anorexia nervosa, and bulimia. They may also find problems with hemorrhoids or constipation, as the red root chakra partially centers on the anus. It is also centered in part on bones and extremities. A lack in red can also be indicated by sciatica, arthritis, and knee problems.

Red brings about warmth to cold areas and can improve circulation. Red color can help heal cancer, heal wounds, and dry up a runny nose. Use red to bring pain relief to warm cool areas or to bring about physical stamina. Beware of using too much red if prone to high blood pressure.

Relief can be brought to these areas by breathing in the color red. With eyes closed, meditate for two minutes on the color red, or on red objects, while taking deep breaths. Envision a healing red ray of light entering your body.

Surround in the power of red by wearing red clothing, adding a red pillow or throw, changing a cell phone background or computer screen saver, or using red dishes at meals and snacks. Store vitamins or pills in red containers.

Excessive red brings about hyperactivity, aggressiveness, impatience, and food addictions. People are also obsessed with material objects, sex, violence, alcohol, and compulsive cleaning. IPA SBRB Study: Two-Thirds of Small Business Owners Think Bush Re-Election Positive for Economy and Country's Direction; Only 36% Feel Election Results Positive on Reducing Healthcare Costs

IPA SBRB Study: Two-Thirds of Small Business Owners Think Bush Re-Election Positive for Economy and Country's Direction; Only 36% Feel Election Results Positive on Reducing Healthcare Costs

IPA SBRB Study: Two-thirds of small business owners believe President Bush's re-election will have a positive effect on both the economy and Federal policies for small business and are optimistic about direction of the country; major concern as only 36 percent believe election results will hpve Positive impact on reducing rising healthcare costs.

Buffalo Grove, IL (PRWEB) November 12, 2004

An International Profit Associates Small Business Research Board (IPA SBRB) study released today indicates owners of small businesses are solidly predicting the re-election of President George W. Bush will lead to improvements in the economy in 2005.

The nationwide IPA SBRB poll of small business owners concluded that they were active participants in 2004 Presidential elections, with the great majority voicing their opinions with their vote. The IPA SBRB study found that 91% of the respondents voted on November 2.

While the study did not ask who the small business owners voted for, the IPA SBRB poll clearly illustrates support for President Bush and optimism for an improved economy next year.

The study shows that 67% of those responding said the re-election of the president will have a positive impact on the 2005 economy. Only 13% said there would be no effect while 16% said there would be a negative impact and 4% had no opinion.

In addition, the survey indicated that there is approval for the general direction in which the country is headed, 68% said they were optimistic, 28% were pessimistic and 4% had no opinion.

By contrast, controlling healthcare costs continues to be a concern. In a previous, IPA SBRB poll in September, healthcare costs were considered second only to the general economy as a major concern for small business and their single most rapidly increasing expense. In this current study, only 36% of small business owners felt that President BushÂ’s election would have a positive effect on controlling healthcare costs, 31% said it would have no effect, 23% indicated it would have a negative effect and 10% had no opinion.

“While it is clear the survey shows optimism about President Bush’s second term and his ability to deal with the economy and polices relating to small business, it is plainly evident that the president can greatly help small businesses by purposing policies that control their healthcare costs,” said Gregg M. Steinberg, President of International Profit Associates, sponsors of the IPA SBR.

Regarding President BushÂ’s re-election and federal policies on small business, 67% said it would have a positive effect while 16% said it would be negative, 12% said it would have no effect and 5% had no opinion.

This paralleled small business ownerÂ’s impression that President BushÂ’s re-election would also have a healthy impact on policies in the states in which they are located with 64% saying it would be positive, 21% saying it would negative, 13% saying it would have no effect and 2% with no opinion.

The International Profit Associates Small Business Research Board has been created to determine the opinions of small business owners and managers on a wide variety of topics related to their own business as well as national and international issues that may impact their operations.

Participants in the poll provide feedback on significant issues and allow for real-time insight into the state of small businesses nationwide. The universe of participants is developed from among small businesses across the United States. More than 175 small businesses owners and senior managers participated in this IPA SBRB poll. The IPA SBRB study is a voluntary survey conducted via phone, email and fax. The poll was structured and supervised through an independent resource.

Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) April 2, 2010

Natural Healers, the Internet’s premier resource for alternative medicine careers and degrees, now offers in-depth yoga teacher training and career information. The Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Careers Guide (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/yoga. html) provides students preparing to be yoga teachers with insight into the thriving marketplace that overlaps both the alternative medicine and fitness industries, and offers many rewarding career choices for the right candidate.

According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for fitness workers are expected to increase much faster than the average for all occupations, with good opportunities and continued growth in health clubs, fitness facilities and other health-centric facilities. Furthermore, The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine states that the demand for yoga instructors is growing in response to the stresses of the modern world and the general public’s growing interest in fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Careers Guide provides students with the yoga career and yoga teacher training school information they need to research this niche market to decide whether “sun salutations” and the “lotus position” will be part of their career vocabulary.

The new Resource Center includes a yoga training and career path (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/yoga-training. html) overview that discusses the versatility of yoga work settings, as well as an overview of the most popular disciplines taught by yoga instructors (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/yoga-instructor. html) today. Prospective yoga teachers can also read a yoga teacher training school question and answer (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/yoga-schools. shtml) and discover the yoga teacher training school (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/yoga-teacher-training-schools. html) curriculum that might be a good fit for them. There’s also an article about yoga teacher training options (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/yoga-teacher-training. html) that provides an overview of different yoga training programs. The “Top Ten Reasons to Attend Yoga School (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/yoga-school. html)” article provides a checklist for students to decide whether yoga school or a career in Thai yoga massage (http://www. naturalhealers. com/qa/thai-yoga-massage. html) might be right for them.

“Yoga may improve a person’s mood, counteract stress and help with many different kinds of medical conditions,” says Dana Larsen, career researcher for Natural Healers. “It is an excellent and rewarding career for those who have done the research and determined that yoga is more of a career calling than a hobby. The Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Careers Guide provides the resources that students need to make an educated yoga teacher training and career decision.”

Allergy and Asthma Sufferers Can Find Great Relief with Dehumidifiers and Air Purifiers

Research has shown that inhaling respiratory irritants such as smoke, mold, mildew and dust mites that breed quickly in indoor environments having poor ventilation and high moisture levels create a potential for serious illnesses such as allergies, asthma and cancer. However, health experts agree that dehumidifiers and air purifiers are very effective in preventing health risks associated with indoor air pollutants.

Lockport, NY (PRWEB) October 10, 2005

Research has shown that inhaling respiratory irritants such as smoke, mold, mildew and dust mites that breed quickly in indoor environments having poor ventilation and high moisture levels create a potential for serious illnesses such as allergies, asthma and cancer. However, health experts agree that dehumidifiers and air purifiers are very effective in preventing health risks associated with indoor air pollutants.

Studies have shown that both newer and older homes have air quality problems. Older homes are breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Newer homes with high efficiency windows have less fresh air entering, which diminishes air quality. Without the proper exchange of non-contaminated outdoor air, a build-up of indoor air pollutants and moisture can occur. Furthermore, the interior of homes that have been flooded by torrential rains are especially vulnerable to high levels of pollutants due to elevated moisture levels. According to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, indoor air levels of many pollutants may be 2 – 5 times higher than outdoor levels, and occasionally higher.

Inhaling irritants such as dust mites, mold, mildew, tobacco smoke, animal dander and pollens carries many health hazards including allergic reactions, asthma, headaches and upper respiratory discomfort. Also, prolonged excessive exposure to these irritants increases the risk of developing an allergy and, in some cases, potentially life-threatening diseases such as cancer.

There is no practical way to completely eliminate indoor irritants, but they can be controlled by reducing indoor moisture. The growth of indoor irritating pollutants can be minimized by reducing indoor humidity to 30 – 50% using a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers function to remove moisture from the air, which subsequently inhibits their growth.

Air purifiers can also dramatically reduce indoor air pollutants and create healthier and more comfortable indoor environments, which is important for individuals’ well-being. They are efficient in removing dust, pollen, smoke, plant and mold spores, mildew and fungus, animal dander and other irritants that cause respiratory illnesses. An air purifier is invaluable, especially in a smoking or moist environment.

Breathing fresh air is not only important to good health but it also stimulates and rejuvenates the mind and mental state. "At a time when insurance companies and underwriters are reducing much needed medical benefits from existing policy holders to maintain high profit margins, it just makes Consumer Driven Health plans all the more beneficial for the real needs of the consumer's health", Ms. Millsap responds and then continues "What good is an expensive health insurance policy if it doesn't cover the services and medications you need to stay well and live a quality life?" AmeriPlan's [tm] dental plans and health benefits are not expensive, non-restrictive, offer extensive benefits, no pre-qualifying, and come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Aaloo KA BADALTA HUA ROOP

Aaloo KA BADALTA HUA ROOP

Vegit aaloo mash is a new revolutionary product which is cooked, mashed potatoes sized to the required form and bulk density and produced under the most stringent quality standards satisfying all International quality parameters.

(PRWEB) August 10, 2006

vegit aaloo mash is a new revolutionary product which is cooked, mashed potatoes sized to the required form and bulk density and produced under the most stringent quality standards satisfying all International quality parameters. Aaloo Mash are dehydrated potato flakes, made by compressing cooked mashed potatoes onto a drum drier, which forms a sheet that is further broken up and ground to the required bulk and the density. This convenience food can be reconstituted in the home in seconds by adding hot water or milk, producing mashed potatoes with very little expenditure of time and effort. Vegit Aaloo Mash is approved by FPO and licensed under FPO 14055. The plant is ISO 9001, ISO 1 4001 and HACCP certified.

Vegit aaloo mash brings with it, good news for all diabetic patients longing to have some russian salad or the indian favorites, such as paranthas, aaloo ki tikki, koftas etc as the potatoes used in vegit are stored in CIPC treated environments, which prevents accumulation of sugar thus making them low in sugar content (almost negligible), making it a healthy option.

An additional advantage of the vegit aaloo mash over the regular potatoes is that the absorption of the frying agent during frying can be controlled as the water content can be controlled in the mash. This is because the absorption of frying media is proportionate to the amount of water content in the product. Also, dehydrated potato products retain much of their nutritional value. They are an excellent source of potassium, calcium, iron, vitamin C and other important minerals and vitamins.

Another factor setting it apart is the convenience to the user. Vegit Aaloo Mash eliminates the entire process of boiling, peeling and mashing of potatoes. Thus with Aaloo Mash, one can do away with all the hassles in disposing the potato waste.

Aaloo mash can also be reconstituted into potato mash of desired density in an easy one step process. It is handy and one saves on storage space. aaloo mash also has a shelf life of 1 year thus leading to better planning and optimal utilization with no wastage. Its manufacturing process also ensures uniform taste all year round. Shelf life of products made from vegit aaloo mash is superior (1.5 times) to that of products made from raw potatoes. This is due to the fact that potato flakes exhibit better microbiology due to better handling and reduced scope of contamination. vegit aaloo mash has virtually no microbial load and dust contamination because of superior manufacturing and storing process.
