Lt. Colonel Delivers Hurricane Wilma Inspired Keynote to Health Underwriters

Retired Army Reserve Lt. Colonel Weinstein, aka the Health Colonel, enlivened and inspired the members and guests of the Dade Association of Health Underwriters with his Hurricane Wilma inspired keynote on November 8, 2005 at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Miami, Florida on the topic “Nine Ways to Put Action in Your Action Plan”.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) November 16, 2005

Retired Army Reserve Lt. Colonel Weinstein, aka the Health Colonel, enlivened and inspired the members and guests of the Dade Association of Health Underwriters with his Hurricane Wilma inspired keynote on November 8, 2005 at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Miami, Florida on the topic “Nine Ways to Put Action in Your Action Plan”.

“Hurricane Wilma was an excellent opportunity to evaluate much more than just the level of preparedness for the Hurricane Wilma. I allowed Wilma in all her fury and passion to inspire me to look farther and deeper, to look at life and how I approach various meaningful areas of my life. Wilma deepened the ability to look much more closely at what is important in life.”

Colonel Weinstein is a speaker, writer and a military-style beach boot cam instructor on Fort Lauderdale Beach in South Florida and has been featured on many television networks to include the History Channel and Fox Sports Net.

Weinstein had some thought provoking questions for his audience that day when it comes to preparing an After-Action-Report, whether you’re analyzing a natural disaster or a business mistake:

Other than death, what is the worst case scenario?  Did I do everything reasonably possible to prepare for a worst-case scenario and reduce the risk to life or limb?  Is how I prepare for a potential catastrophe indicative of how I prepare for long-term life catastrophes in the areas of health, disease, finances, relationships, career, education and the higher purpose of life?  Can I find the courage to openly evaluate all areas of my existence in order to take charge and then design my life so that I lead it to the fullest benefit of others and myself?  Can I focus on the word action if I should ever need my Action Plan?

The nine ways to put action in your action plan according to Lt. Col. Weinstein are:

1. Prepare a list of tasks and subtasks that need to be done.

2. Include people and things that are necessary.

3. Post the “what can be done better” report in plain view and tell others about what you are doing.

4. Crank up your determination meter and overcome inertia.

5. Beware of complacency.

6. Go around, through or over all obstacles.

7. If you don’t feel like you can do it, pretend!

8. Be aware of that voice inside of you.

9. Fight victim mentality.

“An Action Plan is no good without action. It’s like a Ferrari with no engine—it looks good on the outside, but it won’t win a race with a snail. Without a plan, you could end up like that tree in Fort Lauderdale—floating down Main Street under someone or something else’s power, wondering what happened to your roots, your future, perhaps your life.” - Lt. Col. Weinstein

U. S. Market for Pet Insurance Grew 342% Over the Past Five Years

U. S. Market for Pet Insurance Grew 342% Over the Past Five Years

Total pet insurance market revenue in the United States has skyrocketed over the past 5 years, increasing 342% from 1998 through 2002 according to Market Trends: The U. S. Market for Natural Pet Insurance, a new report published by Packaged Facts available at MarketResearch. com. This figure represents a compound annual growth rate of 45% for the five-year period, with sales totaling approximately $88 million in 2002.

(PRWEB) August 18, 2003

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 18 – Total pet insurance market revenue in the United States has skyrocketed over the past 5 years, increasing 342% from 1998 through 2002 according to Market Trends: The U. S. Market for Natural Pet Insurance, a new report published by Packaged Facts available at MarketResearch. com. This figure represents a compound annual growth rate of 45% for the five-year period, with sales totaling approximately $88 million in 2002.

Despite this impressive growth, the pet insurance market in this country remains underdeveloped. While pet insurance has been available for 20 years, only three companies currently compete on a national level, including Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI); CanadaÂ’s PetHealth Inc., through its PetCare Insurance Agency Ltd. Subsidiary; and the Hartville Group, through its Petsmarketinginsurance. com Agency, Inc. subsidiary. Further, while spending on veterinary services has increased by 83% since 1996, fewer than 1% of U. S. pet owners have insurance coverage for their animals to offset these costs.

"Maybe consumers donÂ’t know pet insurance exists, or if they do, they think itÂ’s an unaffordable luxury," said Don Montuori, Acquisitions Editor for Packaged Facts. "But with pet care costs rising rapidly, more pet owners may take a second look at such policies, particularly if pet superstores such as Petco or Petsmart enter the market."

Market Trends: The U. S. Market for Pet Insurance presents insight and analysis into market composition, regulations, consumer behavior and more, with forecasts to 2007. No other market research report offers this unique perspective on the pet insurance market. MarketResearch. com offers this report for immediately delivery.

Exercise Good Nutrition for Women this Holiday Season by Avoiding Bad Eating Habits

Exercise Good Nutrition for Women this Holiday Season by Avoiding Bad Eating Habits

Women's fitness and healthy eating can be maintained this season by embracing the do not's of holiday feasting

Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) December 11, 2008

Lady of America, the leader in women's health and fitness facilities across the nation, is helping women exercise good nutrition (http://www. ladyofamerica. com/about/dec_9_08.asp) habits this holiday season by creating a list of foods to avoid during the holidays. This time of year people's schedules become very hectic and eating healthy (http://www. ladyofamerica. com/locations. asp? l=gp) isn't always an option.

"It helps to view foods not strictly as 'good' or 'bad' but rather as a spectrum of options, with the goal being to make smart choices," said Jillian Sanchez, Director of Operations for Lady of America. "If your restrictions are too rigid, you increase the likelihood of getting frustrated and giving up control."

Lady of America compiled a list of typical foods found at holiday dinners, corporate parties and social gatherings to pinpoint which to avoid. Between sweets, drinks, dinners and more, you can't always eat healthy, but you can avoid the tricky things that will stick with you for months after the celebrations.

Sanchez noted, "During holiday times people are put out of their routines, they have parties for work, friends and networks they belong to. Lady of America understands that you may not be able to eat what your diet is telling you, but we wanted to create a list of what's really bad, and what people really need to avoid,"

What to Watch Out For This Holiday Season:
Egg Nog Candy Canes Potato Latkes Heavy Cream or Cheese Dips Cheesecake Baked Goods Dressed up sweet potato pies Alcohol - if you have to stick to 1 glass of red wine per day at most Fried hors d'oeuvres

Deciding what you're going to eat before you sit down is the key to success. Try to enjoy the company you are with, without spoiling your weight loss efforts.

Lady of America Fitness Centers offer a complete workout experience to help their members achieve their fitness goals. The women-focused centers were first in their competitive set to provide Zumba classes to members, and strength and toning equipment designed specifically to fit women's smaller frames. Lady of America's full-service clubs also feature Pilates, Yoga and aerobics classes alongside amenities such as sauna, tanning, free childcare, massage, personal training and more.

Get Omaha, HORSE Tips from Poker News Daily Columnists

Poker News Daily has become known as the premier site for news from the online and live poker worlds. If it's affecting the industry, rest assured that Poker News Daily will be analyzing it. However, the site has also gained notoriety for providing top-tier strategy discussions on a wide variety of games, including recent articles focusing on Omaha and HORSE.

San Jose, Costa Rica (PRWEB) February 20, 2009

Poker News Daily is gaining fame as the world's premier source for poker strategy articles. In addition to the industry's most experienced team of poker news (http://www. pokernewsdaily. com/) reporters, the site also features a full strategy section, with content authored by the industry's brightest minds. Two recent additions to the Poker Strategy library include examinations of proper Omaha High-Low play as well as an overview of HORSE, which incorporates five of the most popular varieties of poker.

The Omaha poker strategy (http://www. pokernewsdaily. com/poker-strategy/) article is entitled "Some Simple Omaha High-Low Advice." In it, Poker News Daily's Dan Katz discusses profitable starting hole cards to play and stresses the importance of sticking to the basics. Katz added, "Someone almost always has the nuts," six words that should be at the forefront of every poker player's mind as they navigate the sometimes murky waters of Omaha. The game is one of the fastest-growing genres of poker around, as established Texas Hold'em players begin to seek out a new challenge.

The $50,000 HORSE Championship held during the annual World Series of Poker has attracted a healthy amount of attention to the game. Last year's escapade involving Scotty Nguyen's potentially inebriated play really put HORSE on the map. Poker News Daily's Earl Burton takes a look at the five games that make up HORSE: Hold'em, Omaha, Razz, Stud, and Stud Eight or Better. Burton cautioned prospective HORSE players that Razz is often the most difficult of the games to master: "Because the objective is to get the worst hand possible instead of the best, many players will make mistakes. It isn't played much as a stand alone game and, as such, most poker players aren't proficient in its nuances."

Other poker strategy articles (http://www. pokernewsdaily. com/poker-strategy/) have focused on the min-raise, the power of perception, and classic ICM situations. In addition, Poker News Daily writers have recruited some of the game's best to break down key hands. These have included Team PokerStars Pro member Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier on a hand that propelled him to victory during the World Poker Tour's Festa al Lago, Steven "PiKappRaider" Burkholder battling against Adam "Roothlus" Levy, Scott "dorinvandy" Dorin breaking down pots during the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), and WSOP bracelet winner Matt "mattg1983" Graham discussing hands during his PokerStars $100 rebuy victory. Poker News Daily has 40 strategy articles in total running the gamut of topics, with more added each week.

Also, don't forget to check out the site for the latest poker news headlines (http://www. pokernewsdaily. com/) daily. Ongoing newsworthy topics include the Tom "durrrr" Dwan Million Dollar Challenge, the WPT Los Angeles Poker Classic (LAPC), and the precipitous drop of gaming revenues in New Jersey and Nevada.

The Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, August 29 – Tips for Survivors and Their Loved Ones

The Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, August 29 – Tips for Survivors and Their Loved Ones

While Hurricane Katrina may have long since blown over, the need for emotional healing continues. As the one year anniversary of Katrina approaches, Transitions Expert, Dr. Carol McClelland, offers tips for the survivors and their loved ones to deal with what psychologists call, “The Anniversary Reaction.”

Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) August 15, 2006

While Hurricane Katrina may have long since blown over, the need for emotional healing continues for those who survived this country’s largest natural disaster. With thousands of people forced to relocate into new environments within unfamiliar communities, and others returning to their homes only to find their friends and social structures long gone, many survivors continue to feel isolated, depressed, and alone in their struggle to rebuild their lives.

August 29 marks the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Transitions Expert, Dr. Carol McClelland (http://www. seasonsofchange. com/katrina), cautions anyone who was directly involved in Hurricane Katrina – from the survivors, to their friends and relatives, to the rescue workers and the media – to be on the lookout for what psychologists call, “The Anniversary Reaction.”

The Anniversary Reaction refers to a process whereby a specific date, time, or environment triggers an individual to revisit any emotions that were put on “pause” while he or she was in survival mode. Although the crisis may have passed, the body retains the emotional memories that were never expressed and that still need to be released. Any big storm or hurricane can trigger the Anniversary Reaction in an individual – especially a major event like Katrina.

Emotionally, individuals may experience a feeling of dread or uneasiness, to feeling “out of it,” to feeling anger, frustration, fear, terror or overwhelm. An individual also might feel jumpy, find it hard to take action, be overly worried about personal safety, or obsess about his or her mortality.

Physical feelings might include: low energy, illness, panic attacks, addictions, trouble breathing, and stomach aches and headaches, as well as sensory memories related to sights and sounds. Mentally, one’s memory might be foggy or nightmares might occur.

Psychologically, one might feel hopeless, depressed, or experience tension within a family or relationship. Spiritually, questions may emerge around one’s faith or world view. The ability to perform at work can also be affected.

Hurricane Katrina handed its survivors multiple losses – from loved ones, to family pets, to homes and a lifetime of belongings, to the disbanding of social networks, communities, and life as it was known to be. Below are 8 tips for those who found themselves at the mercy of Hurricane Katrina:

Tips for Handling the 1-Year Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina

1. Decide ahead of time how you want to spend this anniversary day and choose a point of focus: Do you want to be alone? With family or friends? In a church or community setting? Do you want to focus on what you’ve lost? Something positive you’ve gained? The relationships that are now in your life?

2. Create a simple ritual: Light a candle, hold a moment of silence, or sing in a circle. Expect tears to fall. Recognize that a tearful celebration is healing.

3. Tell your story: Find someone who is willing to listen and tell the part of your story that you are now ready to tell. Each time you tell your story, you will obtain greater clarity and new insights might emerge.

4. Practice self-care and nurture yourself on a daily basis: Relax with a cup of tea or watch a sunset. Be compassionate with yourself for not being able to get everything on your to-do list done. Eat, sleep and rest, and do some kind of movement. If you are not up to a full workout, stretch a little while you watch television.

5. Create your own “Archie Bunker” chair where you feel safe and secure: If you don’t have a special chair, use a corner of your couch or bed. Uplifting music, photographs or posters, or a journal are comforting touches. When emotions prevail, go to your safe space. If you can’t create a safe space in your physical environment, create an imaginary safe space in your mind, like a forest or beach that you can always return to when life feels overwhelming.

6. Release the tears: When waves of emotions surface, don’t be afraid you are backsliding or relapsing. Even if you fear your tears will never stop, let them come. Emotions are a completely normal part of the healing process and will help you move through and release the pain as time passes.

7. Find healthy ways to express your anger: Hit a pillow, throw rocks in the ocean, go to a driving range and hit golf balls, or scream in your car. Do not take anger out on your child, dog, friend or spouse. Your anger is not about the people in your life; it’s about the circumstances associated with your losses.

8. After the anniversary date, don’t expect to jump right back into your life: Take your life in smaller bites. Instead of tackling a four-page to-do list, choose one tiny step to take that will contribute to your well-being. For example, take one week to focus on finding a new social group that you can join to break through your feelings of isolation. One brief year is not enough time to pull your life together; healing is a journey and this journey takes time.

Carol McClelland, PhD helps individuals in transition who are weathering their own personal storms. The author of “The Seasons of Change” (Conari Press) and “Your Dream Career for Dummies” (Wiley), she has created a free booklet to help all who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. Small Colleges Unite: Edu1world Launches Expert Network for Small College and University Collaboration on Technology Issues

Small Colleges Unite: Edu1world Launches Expert Network for Small College and University Collaboration on Technology Issues

Edu1world announced today the launch of a Small College Collaborative community on edu1world. org specifically for institutions with less than 5,000 FTE. Small schools are greatly challenged by the need to upgrade technology without the resources to plan and execute a cost-effective technology solution. Members of the edu1world community can share ideas, resources and best practices and discuss their challenges with peers and technology experts from around the world. The Small College Collaborative, free to all full time higher education employees, is sponsored by Advantiv Solutions, Cajana, Collegiate Project Services, and The Tambellini Group. Known collectively as The Small College Coalition, the group is in the process of designing a budget-mindful, high ROI package of services designed to address the most pressing technology needs of small institutions.

Irvington, VA (Vocus) November 5, 2009

Edu1world, a Web 2.0 resource and expert network exclusively for higher education employees and vendors who develop, support and work with technology solutions, announced today that they have launched a new community on edu1world. org specifically for institutions with less than 5,000 FTE. Members of the edu1world Small College Collaborative (http://bit. ly/VWWCt) can share ideas, resources and best practices and discuss their challenges with peers and technology experts from around the world. The online community is designed to meet the unique needs of small college and university management teams, most of whom are under enormous pressure to upgrade technology yet lack the resources to plan and execute a transition to a modern, integrated and cost-effective technology environment.

The Small College Collaborative, free to full time higher education employees worldwide, is sponsored by a coalition of four technology service firms committed to serving smaller institutions in a meaningful way. As an expression of their commitment to leave no school underserved, Advantiv Solutions (http://www. advantiv. com), Cajana (http://www. cajana. com), Collegiate Project Services (http://www. collegiateprojectservices. com), and The Tambellini Group (http://bit. ly/hTItD) have formed the Small College Coalition. Not only is the Coalition financially sponsoring the new community on edu1world, but they are combining their resources to design a budget-mindful, high ROI package of services that addresses a broad range of the most pressing small college technology needs – a package that none of the four could deliver alone.

According to Dan Miller, CEO of Advantiv LLC, "Small school management teams face huge challenges, and yet they remain underserved by the consultants and other service providers who are otherwise equipped to help them. The Small School Coalition is comprised of small companies and great people who have decades of experience, a global perspective, and a deep desire to serve smaller institutions."

Without unique packaging and affordable pricing, coordinated and comprehensive technology efforts are practically impossible for small college management teams to achieve. Some of the biggest challenges reported by small colleges include insufficient and shrinking capital and operational budgets; difficulty attracting, training and retaining technical staff; difficulty keeping pace with technological advances and student expectations; excessive spend on software, hardware, and database maintenance; and lack of resources to plan and execute sustainable business process improvements.

“There has never been a greater need for collaboration in support of smaller colleges and universities. As a former Registrar and Director of Admissions, I have seen firsthand the challenges which are unique to small institutions. It is my hope that our coalition will provide opportunities for networking and problem solving,” said Jann Haskins Gillingham, Vice President for Business Development at Collegiate Project Services.

The initial focus of the Small College Coalition will be on cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and ROI optimization. Initial services will include capital and operational budget review and optimization, service and maintenance agreement review and renegotiation, professional development planning, IT performance management planning, technology training design and delivery, IT strategic planning, IT best practices assessment and implementation, and technology application hosting and support.

Says Dan Miller, “So many small schools face growing problems with shrinking budgets. We've succeeded in defining an integrated set of budget-friendly solutions that can be marketed efficiently and delivered in a highly effective way."

Brian Ellis, CEO of Cajana, concurs. “The obstacles to technology adoption and modernization are staggering for small schools, yet it is absolutely necessary for them to compete for and educate top-quality students. Our goal is to reduce or eliminate these barriers to the best of our collective abilities to help small institutions become more efficient and effective.”

Meanwhile, the Small College Coalition will be hosting and actively participating in the edu1world Small College Collaborative online community – providing insights and resources to members, keenly listening for the needs of small college management teams, and looking for ways to reduce costs and support leveraged procurement.

Vicki Tambellini, CEO of The Tambellini Group, is not only a Coalition member but she also founded edu1world. org. “I started edu1world with a vision for cooperation, collaboration and transparency among higher education technology professionals and the vendors who serve them. The Small College Collaborative is the perfect expression of that vision. Our intention with the online Collaborative is to give small colleges a voice and a venue for sharing what works and finding practical solutions to what doesn’t. Our intention with establishing the Small College Coalition is to give small colleges true vendor partners who will respond effectively to their unique challenges.”

Membership in the edu1world Small College Collaborative is free of charge to full time employees of colleges and universities worldwide with 5000 FTE or less. Higher ed members from all institutions, regardless of size, can participate in other communities on edu1world as well including Open Source, Best Practices, Daily Insights, Global News and Market Pulse. They also have access to the edu1world Higher Education Institution Technology Profile Database where they can search for information on peer institutions. Registration is open on edu1world. org 24/7 (http://bit. ly/MAt5J).

For more information about edu1world or the Small College Coalition, contact Vicki Tambellini.

St. Louis Jewish Community Center's Camp Sabra is One of the Nation's Leading Overnight Summer Camps

St. Louis Jewish Community Center's Camp Sabra is One of the Nation's Leading Overnight Summer Camps

St. Louis Jewish Community Center's Camp Sabra at Lake of the Ozarks is one of the leading overnight camps in the United States

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) April 18, 2010

There is still time to register your child for Camp Sabra this summer! The residential camp at Lake of the Ozarks, a part of the St. Louis Jewish Community Center, is one of the leading overnight camps in the United States. Camp Sabra, and its predecessor Camp Hawthorne, has been creating summer magic for kids for more than 60 years.

With a perfect balance of wooded terrain and 3.5 acres of beautiful shoreline, Camp Sabra offers campers the opportunity to experience sailing, water skiing, tubing, outdoor sports, theatre, campfires, hiking, challenge courses, archery and so much more! Regardless of the child’s age or interests, there is a place for him or her at Camp Sabra. The experienced staff at Camp Sabra ensures the highest standards of health and safety and the camp is accredited by the American Camping Association.

Campers entering grades three through five can choose to register for a one-week, two-week, or the full four-week camp session. Those entering grades six can register for a two-week or the full four-week camp session, and campers entering grades seven through 10 attend for the full four-week camp. Camp Sabra also offers an Israel Trip to boys and girls entering their junior and senior year of high school.

Overnight camps have proven to be a positive experience for generations of campers. Children learn to socialize and work together; they have an opportunity to express themselves creatively and to take risks they may not be able to take when confined to a classroom. They get to try new things and cultivate a variety of interests that will encourage outdoor play and exercise even when they return home from camp. It is also a great way to develop independence and confidence. Summer camp allows children to establish who they are.

The Foundation for Jewish Camp is offering incentives of $1,000 for first-time campers and first-time campers from Interfaith Families. Camp Sabra campers are elgible for both grants. Last year, more than 70,000 campers received the One Happy Camper grant. In addition, the St. Louis JCC also offers need-based scholarship.

Camp Sabra is renowned for offering children a summer of fun… a lifetime of memories. Make sure yours gets to experience it this summer. Contact Terri Grossman, Director of Camp Sabra, at 314-442-3180 for more information.

All-Natural MicrodermaMitt Deeply-Exfoliates Skin Using Only Water

All-Natural MicrodermaMitt Deeply-Exfoliates Skin Using Only Water

MicrodermaMitt, Inc. announced today a revolutionary, all-natural, new exfoliating mitt available for consumers who want healthier skin without the use of chemicals or synthetic materials. The MicrodermaMitt® deeply exfoliates safely and effectively to improve the appearance and texture of your skin in just minutes using only water. It gives skin the gentle yet effective treatment it needs to stay smooth, radiant and healthy.

Cincinnati (PRWEB) November 6, 2007

MicrodermaMitt, Inc. announced today a revolutionary, all-natural, new exfoliating mitt available for consumers who want healthier skin without the use of chemicals or synthetic materials. The MicrodermaMitt® deeply exfoliates safely and effectively to improve the appearance and texture of your skin in just minutes using only water. It gives skin the gentle yet effective treatment it needs to stay smooth, radiant and healthy.

The MicrodermaMitt® was developed after the founder and president, Judy Nural, lived in Turkey. During a "nirvana" Turkish bath experience she was exfoliated from head-to-toe. Afterwards, not only did it look like she had shed five pounds of dead skin but, says Nural, "my skin was like a baby's skin, so smooth and radiant, I felt young again." Upon her return to the United States, she became disappointed and frustrated after trying all the 'latest and greatest' and extremely expensive exfoliating spa treatments and products which could not come close to delivering the outstanding results she experienced at Turkish Baths. Without comparable products available, she set out to create the experience for herself and others like her, a natural method of deep exfoliation. Using her 20 years of product development, consumer research and marketing background with major U. S. companies, she researched and tested various options with enthusiastic consumers and MicrodermaMitt® was born.

The MicrodermaMitt®, available for both the face and the body, uses only water to deeply exfoliate and remove dry and dead skin cells to reveal new, smoother and healthier skin immediately.

The Mitt contains no ingredients or synthetic materials but uses only water to deliver results without the need for chemical, scrubs or machines, so it is non-irritating, even on sensitive skin. It is made of 100 percent floss silk and a patented weaving technique which delivers many of the same benefits as microdermabrasion, without the often irritating side-effects.

In addition to deep exfoliating for smoother and healthier skin, the simple yet dramatic, MicrodermaMitt® addresses the following common face and body skin care conditions:

Dry and Aging Skin - Lack of humidity, especially in the winter months, and slower cell turnover as we age, causes dull, rough skin. In the summer, self-tanning products look uneven. Slough off dry, flaky skin to reveal softer, younger-looking skin. Exfoliation with MicrodermaMitt® stimulates skin cell regeneration to make up for slower cell turn over.

Acne - Faulty exfoliation creates an ideal environment for excessive skin oils to pool and bacteria to collect. Often this leads to acne irritation and the appearance of larger pores. The MicrodermaMitt's® patent-pending silk fiber weave removes dead skin and opens and cleans pores.

Ingrown Hair - Build up of dead skin in pores and on the surface of skin creates red, irritated skin bumps due to hair getting trapped. The special weaving technique of the MicrodermaMitt® sweeps away skin build-up, setting the stage for healthier skin.

Keratosis Pilaris (also known as KP)- Small, red bumps on the upper arms, thighs, buttocks, back and even cheeks are caused by dryness and excess skin forming around individual hair follicles. After only a couple of MicrodermaMitt® sessions in the bath or shower, unsightly bumps will be smoothed away.

Sensitive Skin - Many so-called advanced skin care products and procedures are often too rough on sensitive skin. The MicrodermaMitt® takes the "abrasion" out of achieving flawless skin.

The MicrodermaMitt® is made of a unique composition of 100 percent natural material and a patented weaving technique that quickly and easily open pores and removes dead skin cells from the face and body.

It is recommended to use the Face Mitt one to three times a week and the Body Mitt one to two times a week using only water which causes the fibers to swell and form a gentle friction. The MicrodermaMitt® is reusable for up to four months and should be rinsed out with warm water and allowed to air dry between uses. It shouldn't be used if skin is infected, has open-sores or is irritated.

The Olive Oil Skin Care™ line products, also developed by Judy Nural, include a 100 percent olive oil cleansing bar and face and body oil. The Olive Face & Body Oil is made from young olives cold pressed with green tea leaves and almond oil to maximize the polyphenols and amount of antioxidants. Both are 100 percent natural and moisturize and nourish skin from the inside out without being greasy or oily. The cleansing bar and the face and body oil are designed to use daily for cleansing and moisturizing the skin. The oil is absorbed immediately and penetrates deeply without clogging pores (non-comedogenic), locks in moisture to hydrate skin naturally and helps heal dry, itchy and cracked skin quickly - including dry skin due to eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Daily usage helps prevent UV damage, reduces the appearance of age spots and is suitable for sensitive skin because it's also hypoallergenic and fragrance free.

Positive feedback has flooded MicrodermaMitt's home offices from customers including those in the skin care profession. "MicrodermaMitt is my passion and I will continue this journey so that people of all ages can achieve beautiful skin naturally at an affordable cost," said Nural. In MicrodermaMitt® trials, nine out of 10 women, including estheticians, physicians and other skin care specialists, immediately noticed the softest, smoothest and most radiant skin ever after using the MicrodermaMitt®.

One dermatologist assistant told Nural, "Working for many years in dermatology, I have never been more impressed with any product. My patients cannot say enough about this miracle mitt either. They have responded to the MicrodermaMitt with praise such as, 'my elbows and knees are the softest they have ever been,' 'my husband asked why my legs felt so soft. I told him it was a mitt-he was amazed,' and 'I've never seen a product that removed so much dead skin-my skin feels like baby skin.' It is totally different than anything you will find on the market and I recommend it to anyone. You don't have to have problem skin to use it. You will be extremely impressed by the way your skin looks and feels even after the first use!"

The three products used in combination provide "Smooth & Healthy Skin for Life™". The MicrodermaMitt®, which lasts approximately four months, retails for $22.00. Olive Oil Skin Care™ products begin at a MSRP of $12.00 for a seven-ounce cleansing bar and $28.00 for a two-ounce bottle of face and body oil. Nural first introduced MicrodermaMitt® to the trade in February 2006, at the Los Angeles Spa & Medical Expo, where it received a "Best New Product" award from Spa Finder Magazine in June 2006. Products are available in spas, gift shops, physician offices, catalogs and online at www. microdermamitt. com.

About MicrodermaMitt, Inc.
MicrodermaMitt, Inc. has offered a line of all-natural deep-exfoliation, cleansing and moisturizing products since 2005.

With headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company's mission is to provide consumers of any age, smooth and healthy skin for life in a simple and natural way.

The MicrodermaMitt®, chosen best new product by Spa Finder Magazine at the Los Angeles Spa & Medical Expo in 2006, and Olive Skin Care™ were developed after Judy Nural, the company's founder and president, lived in Turkey and noticed her skin was smoother, healthier and more radiant then ever before. After being exfoliated from head to toe during a Turkish bath, she looked like she had shed five pounds of dead skin and felt young again.

Searching for the same results in the U. S., she quickly became frustrated with the lack of products available and started the process to bring this unique method of exfoliating home herself. Using her 20 years of product development, consumer research and marketing background with major U. S. companies, she researched and tested various products with enthusiastic consumers, and MicrodermaMitt® and Olive Skin Care™ were born.

MicrodermaMitt's® face and body mitts are made of 100 percent natural floss silk and the deep exfoliating treatment used only with water delivers many of the same benefits that microdermabrasion does and eliminates the need for other products which contain synthetics, chemicals, scrubs and other materials and ingredients which can cause allergic reactions or damage the skin. The Olive Skin Care line™ consists of a hand-cut, 100 percent olive oil cleansing bar, which contains only olive oil and mineral salts, and olive face and body oil that contains high levels of polyphenols to maintain the highest antioxidants. None of the MicrodermaMitt products contain any artificial ingredients, preservatives, synthetic materials, fillers or fragrance and they are not tested on animals. MicrodermaMitt is active in the community and donates products, participates in fundraising events, demonstrations and presentations for non-profit events for schools, hospitals and breast cancer organizations, to help promote the natural way to achieve the health and beauty of smooth skin at an affordable cost. Leading University Hospital Embraces the SRC WinScribe Digital Dictation and Document Creation Platform

Leading University Hospital Embraces the SRC WinScribe Digital Dictation and Document Creation Platform

SRC to roll out a document creation solution to more than 750 users at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. SRC will deploy a platform to streamline dictation and transcription processes.

London (PRWEB) February 25, 2009

SRC, the leading provider of digital dictation and speech recognition to NHS Trusts, has been awarded the contract to roll out a document creation solution to more than 750 users at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

The SRC solution will revolutionise the way dictation and transcription takes place by providing a single core platform for all dictation and transcription activities across the Trust, as well as providing integrated access to outsourced transcription services.

The SRC WinScribe system will automatically prioritise and distribute dictations to the most relevant transcriptionist, taking full account of workloads, staff availability and the urgency of each document. The latest workflow enhancements will reduce document turnaround times of work by automatically directing dictations to available transcription resource, whether that is internal typists or third party transcription providers. The Trust is already successfully utilising the services of outsourced transcription providers and SRC will deploy the SRC Outsource Manager module to enable this work to be monitored and managed from within the SRC solution in exactly the same manner as work that is transcribed internally.

Linda Mennell, Digital Dictation Programme Manager at University Hospitals Birmingham said: "When we investigated dictation solutions we wanted more than just a tape replacement. We wanted a solution that was easy to use within the complex environment of a large, modern hospital and that would provide major improvements in the efficiency and management of the dictation and transcription processes."

As well as providing a complete integrated solution, SRC will also provide a range of implementation, customisation, training and support services in order to support the successful introduction and on-going support of the system.

Chris Hart, CEO SRC, added: "This is another exciting project, which reinforces our lead position in the healthcare market. We are particularly pleased to be working with an innovative and advanced Trust such as University Hospitals Birmingham."

As well as providing numerous departmental roll outs of digital dictation, SRC has been awarded contracts for the deployment of Trust wide digital dictation solutions throughout ten English NHS Trusts. Recent roll outs include Ealing Hospitals, Taunton and Somerset Hospitals and University Hospital Leicester. Many of these Trusts are already benefiting from the solutions which SRC have provided, with many reporting significant savings, for example on agency costs, as well as substantial reductions in document turnaround times.

Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters to Receive Charles Carroll Award from Leading Catholic Philanthropists

Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters to Receive Charles Carroll Award from Leading Catholic Philanthropists for “Encouraging the Worldwide Ministries of Catholic Women Religious”. The Catholic philanthropic community has chosen the Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters as the 2010 Charles Carroll Award honoree for its support of the worldwide ministries of Catholic women religious.

Washington, D. C. (PRWEB) January 25, 2010

The Catholic philanthropic community has chosen the Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters as the 2010 Charles Carroll Award honoree for its support of the worldwide ministries of Catholic women religious.

The Charles Carroll Award is conferred by the board of directors of the Washington, D. C.-based Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities (FADICA), an organization of private foundations and major donors that works to strengthen Catholic philanthropy. Named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton, MD, best known as the only Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence, a lifelong champion of religious freedom and a generous church benefactor, it is given to philanthropic organizations with exceptional impact on the vitality of Catholic charitable ministry and work.

The Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters, headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, was established in 1986 by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation as an independent organization run by the Sisters. Conrad N. Hilton, an international business pioneer who founded Hilton Hotels, left his fortune to the foundation to help the world’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable people, and in his last will and testament directed its board to support the work of the Roman Catholic Sisters as he had throughout his life.

The Fund for Sisters has awarded approximately $75 million in grants for educational, health and social service ministries of sisters in 130 countries. Grants by the Fund have strengthened the ministries of sisters in the areas of maternal and child health, literacy and education, HIV/AIDS education, agricultural and solar projects, and aid to refugees, immigrants and orphans.

The Carroll Award was created by Catholic philanthropic leadership to be the collective voice of praise and encouragement for outstanding charitable service and actions that reflect the virtues of generosity, integrity and responsibility.

The Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters is the 11th recipient of the Carroll Award since its inception nearly 30 years ago. The award will be accepted by Sister Joyce Meyer, executive director of the Fund and a member of Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM) Roman Catholic congregation. She has headed the Fund for the past 10 years. The award ceremony will take place at the Naples Grande Hotel on January 28 during a dinner given in honor of the Fund by the FADICA board of directors.

The dinner precedes a national symposium entitled: The Leadership and Philanthropy of Women Religious, A Tradition Embraces the Future. The invitational meeting is also sponsored by FADICA to celebrate the charitable efforts of women religious.

FADICA was established in 1976 as a membership organization for private foundations and major donors who work together to improve the effectiveness of their charitable giving through professional conferences, research and sharing best practices. Throughout its history, the members of FADICA have a special interest in the work of women religious. The organization played a pivotal role in starting the National Religious Retirement Office, a program of financial aid to American Religious Communities. FADICA also played a founding role in Support Our Aging Religious (SOAR).

Most recently FADICA and the Leadership Conference of Women Religious worked jointly to raise over $7 million to restore the ministries of women religious in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

New Children’s Book Author Encourages Open Communication about Emotions

New Children’s Book Author Encourages Open Communication about Emotions

Mother of child experiencing brain tumor writes children’s books to share ideas about exploring emotions. ‘The Angry Monster Book’, by Debi Kennedy, offers ways for children to express their anger.

Madison, WI (PRWEB) June 22, 2006

Debi Kennedy writes children’s books to help families explore emotions. She knows, through personal experience, that helping a child express feelings is both challenging and rewarding.

Debi’s daughter, Betsi, is experiencing a brain tumor and all the emotions that go with medical and non-medical interventions. Debi’s first book takes on the subject of anger.

‘The Angry Monster Book’ offers ways for kids to express their anger in safe, effective, healthy ways. Everybody gets angry and facing anger is not a fun activity. This book advocates openly discussing anger with children, giving them a supportive environment in which to get it all out.

Debi presents a different view of anger, “It is not about changing the anger it is about accepting it. The anger is saying something, take a moment to listen.”

Unfortunately, Debi and her family have had a lot of practice working with and through anger issues. Much of Betsi’s anger comes from being poked and prodded from every angle, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, by a wide range of health professionals.

Debi wants children to be able to express themselves and relieve the anger and fears. ‘The Angry Monster Book’ suggests alternatives including large muscle activities, counting exercises, and lots of discussion.

The main point is to be available and present for kids when they are in need. Suppressing emotions doesn’t make them go away, it just hides them for another day.

About Debi Kennedy:

After completing a master's in clinical psychology, Debi worked as a counselor with children in the foster care system. She then went on to finish 2 years of a doctorate program before retiring to pursue motherly endeavors.

Wooftown. com Community Launches with Cutting-Edge Tools for Great Dog Parents

Wooftown. com Community Launches with Cutting-Edge Tools for Great Dog Parents

Wooftown. com welcomes new puppy and dog parents to a free online community of cutting-edge tools designed for great dog parents. Wooftown. com is the premier destination for anyone who recognizes that dog ownership is an outdated concept and that family dogs need dog parenting by people who embrace this responsibility. Wooftown. com is where dogs become part of the family.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) May 4, 2010

Wooftown. com has opened to welcome new puppy and dog parents to its free online community of cutting-edge tools designed for great dog parents. With a health reminder system, articles on everything from getting a puppy to raising a dog, training advice, community answers, and a breed guide for the modern family, the Wooftown. com social network helps dog parents to raise healthy dogs as treasured members of the family.

Of the estimated 3 to 5 million dogs (in the U. S. alone) that are either abandoned or surrendered to animal shelters, tragically up to 2.5 million dogs are euthanized each year simply because no one wants them. Overwhelmingly, the former owners of abandoned dogs are not evil or uncaring; but generally, they are unsuspecting, ill prepared, and overwhelmed. They do not realize that the purchase of a dog is more about parenthood than ownership.

Wooftown. com seeks to create a network to elevate the attitude surrounding the responsibilities of bringing a dog into a family, hoping to assist in the outright elimination of the idea that it is socially acceptable to euthanize unwanted dogs.

The Wooftown. com community is for any dog lovers who support this cause, offering a free social network that is easy to navigate, is fully Facebook compatible, and contains vital information for new and prospective dog parents.

Http://www. Wooftown. com (http://www. Wooftown. com) Features:

Health Reminders
Working with renowned veterinarian Dr. Ian Sandler – Wooftown has developed a free and helpful online dog management tool. As with children, it is essential for dogs to receive medical protection at key times each year. Wooftown’s Reminders helps dog parents keep track of all of their dog's important “to-do's” as well as provides core health maintenance suggestions to help keep family dogs protected throughout their lives.

Questions & Answers
Wooftown’s community is the place to find the answers to any of your dog parenting questions. Additionally Wooftown has developed an algorithm that delivers questions to selected parents with a similar breed/mix who have been through the same parenting stage, maximizing the value & relevance of every answer shared.

Parent Pals & Sharing
Wooftown. com also also connects you with other parents and their dogs, allowing you to share public profile pages for you & your dogs. Connect with other dog parents on the Wooftown network profiles, complete with photo albums and comment walls.

About Wooftown. com:

Wooftown. com is a vibrant community website providing cutting-edge tools to help people be great dog parents. It is estimated that in the U. S. alone between 3 to 5 million dogs per year are either abandoned or surrendered to animal shelters; most often because of unrealistic expectations on the part of their former owners. Wooftown seeks to help prospective dog parents educate themselves on the magnitude of the responsibility and issues surrounding the decision to bring a dog into a family. Wooftown. com is the premier destination for anyone who recognizes that dog ownership is an outdated concept and that family dogs need dog parenting and people who embrace this responsibility and strive to provide the very best for their family dogs.

PortABalls(tm) Captures the Essence of Make-It-in-This-World Chutzpah, Combining Humor with a Powerful Message to Women from All Walks of Life to Persevere

PortABalls(tm) Captures the Essence of Make-It-in-This-World Chutzpah, Combining Humor with a Powerful Message to Women from All Walks of Life to Persevere

Crystal Anzalone and Joni LeRette-Flores, two entrepreneur business owners from IOWA create funny, functional and fabulous product just for women--all women--designed combining humor with a powerful message of perseverance in overcoming the tough times of life. Perfect for any woman who has ever had an obstacle to overcome.

(PRWEB) July 21, 2005

Crystal Anzalone and Joni LeRette-Flores, successful independent recruiters and forever creative dreamers recently launched a sassy, upscale empowerment gift just for women.

PortABalls(tm) combines humor, with a functional message to persevere. For every woman who has faced a challenge and succeeded or who is currently facing an obstacle which seems insurmountable, PortABalls(tm) is a to-be-given gift (or to-be-kept) portable reminder that every woman has the chutzpah to succeed.

God gave 'em to men, but Lady, you've earned them. . . youÂ’ve got b---s!" What happens when two women with Iowa roots parallel their lives, combine their faith, talents and humor to overcome adversity, then seek to inspire and encourage women everywhere with what theyÂ’ve learned? Necessity being the mother of invention, these co-creators developed a product conceived in humor and birthed through the overcoming process. The product depicts victory with a chuckle, while the accompanying minibook provides a "you will make it" success story.

The Secret Society of Women with Balls Institute announces Port-A-Balls(tm), yes, you heard it right...a product designed to commemorate the valor of women who choose to overcome and succeed. Applying tongue-in-cheek humor to a stereotypically gender-specific phrase proved the inspiration for this product, appropriately titled Port-A-Balls(tm).

“You’ve got balls.” These co creators would venture to guess that everyone has either iterated the phrase, or heard it uttered…to acknowledge bravado in the workplace or on the personal front. Port-A-Balls(tm)is a TASTEFULLY designed portable reminder of the courage it takes to live day-to-day and to overcome adversity. Trademarked, sassy and sophisticated Port-A-Balls(tm) is a gift for the spirited woman. Enclosed in a delicate gift box, Port-A-Balls(tm)is a beautiful sachet made of shimmering bronze fabric. Perfect as an encouragement gift for the woman who is going through a difficult time (health, divorce, career loss) or as a “way to go” congratulatory remembrance for the woman who has succeeded in a new venture (whether it be in the workplace or in the home--which is also a workplace!). Upon opening their Port-A-Balls(tm) box, recipients are greeted with a poem, officially inducting them into the Secret Society of Women with Balls Institute--guaranteed to bring a smile and a chuckle or two (if not an all out laugh 'til it hurts).

If you know a woman (and who doesnÂ’t?) who has experienced a day when it didnÂ’t seem she was going to make it, a woman who wondered where the next paycheck might come from, a woman whose adversities seem unbearable and the struggles in decision-making burdensome, a woman who feels like she is always drawing the short end of the stick and fighting the temptation to quit is an everyday agenda item, Port-A-Balls(tm) is just what the doctor ordered! Victory takes courage and Port-A-Balls(tm) was created to serve as a fragrant reminder to choose to persevere.

Through their own stories of perseverance and overcoming (included with the purchase of each Port-A-Balls(tm)product) the co creators of Port-A-Balls(tm) share a vision to use humor to reach ALL WOMEN and infuse each with hope in the power to overcome and keep moving forward.

Co creators Crystal Anzalone and Joni LeRette may be contacted by writing to P. O. Box 540306, Omaha, NE 68154, by telephoning (402) 492-8259 (Crystal) or (712) 388-0565 (Joni) or by email at Portaballs@aol. com. The Port-A-Balls(tm) gifts are available for $20, plus shipping and handling. Personal delivery and/or presentation of a Port-A-Balls(tm) gift also available in the local Omaha, Nebraska Metro area.

New Books on Folklore Detail Mythic Ties of the Old World to the New

New Books on Folklore Detail Mythic Ties of the Old World to the New

West Coast author Gary R. Varner’s newest book on folklore and mythology (The Mythic Forest, the Green Man and the Spirit of Nature) provides new insight into the ancient archetype known as the Green Man.

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) April 15, 2006

West Coast author Gary R. Varner’s newest book on folklore and mythology (The Mythic Forest, the Green Man and the Spirit of Nature) provides new insight into the ancient archetype known as the Green Man.

Released in March, 2006 by Algora Publishing, a respected New York academic publisher, the book is, according to the publisher, “A delightful world tour of traditions and beliefs related to trees and forests, The Mythic Forest highlights modern-day revivals of ancient customs and identifies the Green Man motif in American architecture, hisface peering out from behind his leaves on California banks and New York brownstone houses. The book will appeal to readers interested in folklore and legends, mythology, urban archeology, and, of course, trees and their lore. Trees and forests are rich in symbolism and have been feared or revered since man began to walk the earth. In Part I, the author discusses the gods of nature and the folklore of trees, tracing a variety of legends, practices and beliefs; in Part II he presents the history of the image of the Green Man and its use in pre-Christian and early Christian times up to today. Mankind has given a recognizable face to the awesome and impalpable forces of nature in the image of the Green Man and the nature spirits that this book explores. The ways in which different societies and different craftsmen have depicted these spirits display the wide creative range of the human imagination, but the persistence of the theme suggests that in all their many facets these "spirits" represent a deep, primordial sense that humans have shared since civilization began; for the message of these images has remained the same, even if somewhat altered over time. Folk traditions from around the world, from the rites that celebrate spring and egg on the forces of fertility to folk health remedies and the use of talismans to ward off illness and other evils, show some surprising similarities and hint at the shared origins of human culture. Even though the original significance of many customs has been lost or diluted, they still hold an appeal and many American towns even today are re-introducing seasonal fairs to recreate and revel in the link between man and nature.”

Varner has included many never before published photographs of this ancient image taken in England, Ireland, Wales and across the United States and elsewhere, illustrating that the Old World isn’t the only location where this icon has established deep roots.

Gary R. Varner is author of: "Essays in Contemporary Paganism;" "Sacred Wells: A Study in the History, Meaning, and Mythology of Holy Wells & Waters;" "Water of Life-Water of Death: The Folklore and Mythology of Sacred Water;" and "Menhirs, Dolmen and Circles of Stone: The Folklore and Magic of Sacred Stone". "Sacred Wells" is the #1 seller for books on holy wells on the British Amazon. co. uk website, surpassing the many contributions by established British holy well researchers.

Varner’s other works also illustrate the universal beliefs and traditions that humankind has attached to megaliths, stones and water with accounts from around the world. Paying particular attention to Native American cultures and how those cultures share many of the same traditions and beliefs to those in the Old World, he embellishes the oral traditions with photographs that indicate that even archaeological remains have a common aspect and, perhaps, even a common origin.

Algora Publishing will also be releasing Varner’s next book, "Creatures in the Mist: Little People, Wild Men and Spirit Brings Around the World: A Study in Comparative Mythology" as part of its 2007 catalogue.

Varner is a member of various sections of the American Folklore Society and has been listed in "Who's Who in the World" and "Who's Who in America" reference books.

The Mythic Forest, the Green Man and the Spirit of Nature (ISBN 0875864341) is in trade paperback format and retails at $21.95 from all bookshops and online stores.

E-GastricBypassSurgery. com Releases a Warning of the Complications of Gastric Bypass Surgery

E-GastricBypassSurgery. com Releases a Warning of the Complications of Gastric Bypass Surgery

E-GastricBypassSurgery. com explains that the more involved and more popular combination-procedure gastric bypass surgery involves stapling the stomach to make it smaller and reattaching the small intestine to bypass a portion responsible for the majority of calorie and nutrient absorption.

(PRWEB) July 29, 2005

E-GastricBypassSurgery. com explains that the more involved and more popular combination-procedure gastric bypass surgery involves stapling the stomach to make it smaller and reattaching the small intestine to bypass a portion responsible for the majority of calorie and nutrient absorption.

Gastric bypass surgery is only available to the morbidly obese (more than 100 pounds overweight) who have been obese for more than 5 years and shown a serious effort to lose their excess weight through not surgical methods such as diet and exercise.

Surgery in any form is risk-inherent and gastric bypass surgery can result in complications. Complications of gastric bypass surgery include infection, leaking of the stomach resulting from a failed staple, respiratory problems, and hernias. The most serious of these is a gastrointestinal leak that happens in 1 out of 20 cases.

According to E-GastricBypassSurgery. com, complications of gastric bypass surgery rarely result in death but the death rate hovers around 1.9%. When considering this, remember that gastric bypass surgery patients are already in a very unhealthy state and their bodies are not in a condition to fight off serious infections that do sometimes occur even in routine surgery.

The risk of complications of gastric bypass surgery must be compared to the risks of living morbidly obese, which is a deadly condition that will eventually result in severe disabilities and early death.

Parker College Debuts the Drugless Research Hall of Fame

The Drugless Research Hall of Fame, founded by Parker College of Chiropractic, honored Dr. Ron Rupert, dean of Research at Parker College, as the first inductee during the first annual Parker Gala held at the 2009 Las Vegas Parker Seminar. The Drugless Research Hall of Fame is an innovative recognition platform designed to showcase significant drug-free contributions in research worldwide.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 25, 2009

The Drugless Research Hall of Fame, founded by Parker College of Chiropractic, honored Dr. Ron Rupert, dean of Research at Parker College, as the first inductee during the first annual Parker Gala held at the 2009 Las Vegas Parker Seminar. The Drugless Research Hall of Fame is an innovative recognition platform designed to showcase significant drug-free contributions in research worldwide.

"It is imperative for the profession to support chiropractic research, which will in turn impact patient outcomes, and the growth of the profession," said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic.

The Parker Research Institute has become one of the most prestigious research publishers, seeking to position itself as a global leader in chiropractic wellness research. The institute has been widely recognized through publications for its exemplary work in peer-review journals and with various honors including the 2005 World Federation of Chiropractic award for the best scientific research. It has been able to establish extensive collaborative research relationships with both the chiropractic and medical communities and will continue to leverage these relationships in the best interest of the profession.

"Our ties and growing relationships with research centers in countries like China, Spain, and Mexico provide unique research opportunities," said Dr. Rupert. "We will sustain our efforts to involve field doctors and support them by building the research they need for evidence based practice."

Research establishes credibility, plays a pivotal role in today's health care policy, and has a crucial role in issues of reimbursement. The lack of research in many areas diminishes the proper role and compensation of the chiropractic profession. The profession has a serious need for research, in areas spanning from the care of children to that of the aged, from treatment to prevention, from basic science to clinical science, and from visceral issues to somatic conditions, to name a few.

Relationships to establish collaborative research are important and should be fostered in the best interest of the profession. Some of the key research efforts for which funding is required include practice-based research, which involves participation of field doctors and "real" patients in order to document clinical effectiveness, patient satisfaction, and other outcomes; and basic science research, which deals with the physiological effects a spinal adjustment has provided a profound understanding of one mechanism by which chiropractic care helps patients. It also explores models of the vertebral subluxation.

If you are interested in contributing financially to support chiropractic wellness research, please contact Lisa A. Fellers by phone at (214) 902-3482 or by email at lfellers (at) parkercc. edu.
