Trinitas Hospital's Wound Healing Center Reaches 98% Healing Rate

Trinitas Hospital's Wound Healing Center Reaches 98% Healing Rate

The Wound Healing Center at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey, already one of the most successful programs of its kind in the nation – has achieved a 98% healing rate for the fourth quarter of 2003, according to Praxis Clinical Services. The Wound Healing Center is a specialized program at Trinitas for wounds that have resisted healing for two months or longer.

ELIZABETH, NJ (PRWEB) April 7, 2004

The Wound Healing Center at Trinitas Hospital – already one of the most successful programs of its kind in the nation – has achieved a 98% healing rate for the fourth quarter of 2003, according to Praxis Clinical Services. The Wound Healing Center is a specialized program at Trinitas for wounds that have resisted healing for two months or longer.

“By using well-researched, proven techniques, our specialized team of physicians, nurses and foot specialists are able to provide total healing and relief for patients who previously thought their wounds were irreparable or would ultimately result in amputation,” says Peter Mlynarczyk, MD, Medical Director of the Center. “We are very proud of the 98 percent success rate, which is an indication of the expertise of our medical team and our high quality of care.”

In addition to its success rate, the Wound Healing Center also achieved a lower than expected length of healing time – 60 days versus a national average of 65. The three main types of wounds treated at Trinitas are pressure ulcers, venous ulcers and trauma wounds.

“I would like to congratulate Trinitas on an outstanding quarter, as well as an outstanding entire year,” said Jack Rollins, Chief Operating Officer of Praxis Clinical Services. In addition to the fourth quarter results, Trinitas also received an award for exceptional patient satisfaction at the Praxis Annual Meeting.

Praxis Clinical Services provides management services for the development, implementation and operation of Comprehensive Wound Healing Centers. These centers are designed as outpatient departments in hospitals and are committed to the successful treatment and prevention of chronic, non-healing wounds. Last year over 14,000 patients were treated throughout the United States in Centers managed by Praxis Clinical Services.

Later this year, the Hospital will begin offering Hyberbaric Oxygen Therapy through the Wound Healing Center. Patients receiving hyperbaric therapy are placed in a specially-designed chamber that administers a 100 percent oxygen-rich environment under slight pressure. Oxygen reaches the wound through the bloodstream, resulting in improved healing, greater blood vessel formation and reduced likelihood of infection. This treatment provides a non-invasive procedure for patients with difficult wounds, crush injuries, acute burns or diabetes-related ulcers.

For information on the Wound Healing Center, call 908-994-5480.

A review of the extent to which HIPAA will influence the healthcare opportunity for recording vendors

A review of the extent to which HIPAA will influence the healthcare opportunity for recording vendors

Research and Markets are delighted to announce the addition of HIPAA in the Contact Center to their offering

(PRWEB) March 28, 2004

This brief provides an overview of HIPAA in the contact center and identifies opportunities available to recording vendors in these environments. It identifies key market drivers and provides recommendations for recording vendors.

Reasons to purchase this report:

-To understand the extent to which HIPAA will influence the healthcare opportunity for recording vendors

- To gain insight into the specific pressures of healthcare CIOs in order to target your sales strategy most effectively

The report is designed to highlight:

Unlike those regulatory issues whose implications are well understood by both

Industry participants and recording vendors alike, the implications of HIPAA are less well understood. Clearly, greater knowledge and understanding is required not only for healthcare organizations, but for the vendor community as well.

Vendors do not need to make massive cash outlays for R&D, only necessary expenditures

Associated with marketing activities. The addition of such a solution can present not only a unique selling point in an increasingly commoditized market but also present new opportunities in a steadily maturing market.

The report is also designed to provide:

-A clear definition of what HIPAA means as it pertains to recording vendors

-A discussion of exactly who is impacted by HIPAA and how best to take advantage of the opportunities HIPAA creates

-An analysis of the implications HIPAA and HIPAA-compliance will have on growth in the recording industry

Region: Global

Day Of Global Peace And Self - Healing On the Anniversary Of the Bam Earthquake Of 2003

On behalf of the children of the victims of the Bam earthquake and in celebration of their lives, Dr. Sonia Gaemi of Women for Cultural Wisdom and affiliated women’s and children organizations, in cooperation with the United Nations and the Appadana International Satellite Television Network, are officially declaring December 26 as the day of "Global Peace and Self Healing" and naming Bam a “Land of Peace and Self Healing”.

(PRWEB) December 25, 2004

On this day Appadana International TV will sponsor Dr. Sonia Gaemi, producer of the TV program "The Art of Self Healing with Dr. Sonia”, who will present 10 hours of special programming focusing on Bam, the children of Bam, and all that has been done and needs to be done so that healing takes place in their lives. The program will present programs and events conducted around the world to commemorate that day, including Qigong demonstrations by the children of Bam. They will come to Appadana by telephone for live interviews and comments. The viewing public will learn what has been done so far to help heal and bring self-confidence to people who have suffered so enormously. The programs for the day include a candlelight walking meditation by the children to the cemetery in Bam, children’s meditation and tree planting in the Melat Park in Tehran, and other children’s ceremonies throughout the world. Presentations on the history of the Erg E Bam Citadel, a historical monument, and of the Silk Road, which was the means of “dialogue among civilizations”, will also be a part of the program.

This is a day not only to celebrate renewal and life in Bam but also to appreciate the kindness and generosity of Iranians and the people of over 50 nations who offered help and support. Messages of peace from world leaders including the Dali Lama, Deepak Chopra, former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn, International Poet Laureate of Peace Dr. Mary Rudge, Dr. Susan Zipp, Advisor to the Communications Coordination Committee for the United Nations, and speakers from United Nations Peoples Assembly and Women for Cultural Wisdom will be broadcasted as received. Musicians, artists and poets of all beliefs with messages of peace and self-healing from cultures along the Silk Road are invited to share their talents.

Dr. Sonia, a registered dietitian with a residency at UC Berkeley, appears weekly on her TV show, one of the most popular programs among the Farsi-speaking populations of the world. She is called "Mother Sonia" by the children of Bam and is remembered for helping lead people toward health through her teachings of Chinese Medical Qigong, energy-enhancing exercises, teas, and messages of self-healing through integrated nutritional medicine and eating hormonally. She has been a tireless proponent of global peace, tranquility, and compassion. On the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, she organized a conference entitled “Women’s Body-Mind-Health” and was called an "amazing woman". In Dr. Sonia’s interview with Dr. Ramu Damodaran, editor in chief of the UN Chronicle, he said that the humanitarian focus of the United Nations should be on the prevention of illness and on self-healing, and agreed to the U. N. collaboration in declaring December 26 as the day of "Global Peace and Self Healing" and naming Bam a “Land of Peace and Self Healing”.

Children in other parts of the world can unite with the children of Bam by sending videos of their Walking Meditation, and everyone is invited to plant seeds to symbolize hope and solidarity. On December 25 & 26 fund raising for Bam will take place during the program. Proceedings will be sent for the children of Bam for the Persian New Year celebration. Artists, musicians, historians, and organizations are invited to participate or send videos, pictures or any documents relating to Bam to be used on television and to share their spirit with the people of Bam.

Eurolearn Announces The Launch Of Their New Website

Eurolearn, an educational program of GlobaLinks that sends students to Europe for study for a semester or a year, announces their new website at Eurolearn. org.

Westminster, CO (PRWEB) February 14, 2009

Eurolearn, a student study abroad program, announces the launch of their new website. Eurolearn is an educational program of GlobaLinks. With main offices located in Westminster, Colorado, Eurolearn provides college students from around the U. S. and Canada with opportunities to study abroad in England (http://www. eurolearn. org/destinations/england/), Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Scotland and Wales.

Director of Students Services and Programs Mona Miller has put together a program that offers cultural and educational exchanges that range from 2-week short courses to semesters and even year-long study programs. Eurolearn participants can participate in classes in their host countries that are taught in English, but students are encouraged to study languages as part of their academic program abroad. The study abroad Ireland (http://www. eurolearn. org/destinations/ireland/) and study abroad in Italy programs occur on university campuses, and credits earned abroad through study abroad Europe programs can be applied to undergraduate degree programs offered in the United States and Canada.

Eurolearn offers students an excellent opportunity to study in European countries, and they take the hassle out of what would be an enormous undertaking for students trying to study abroad on their own. Eurolearn provides for academic and cultural counseling, and they facilitate the admissions and course enrollment process abroad. Guaranteed housing is provided for every student. Insurance and emergency response plans are in place, based on their in-country expertise and history of health and safety factors.

The Europe study abroad program (http://www. eurolearn. org/) also offers students in-country orientation, as well as help with obtaining visas, passports and registering with United States or Canadian embassies in-country. Students, parents and advisors also have round-the-clock access to emergency services.

The new Eurolearn website features easy to navigate links detailing information about the many programs offered, universities and destinations. As well, there are links designated for information specifically for parents, advisors, students and alumni. Full information about the study abroad Europe semester or year abroad, summer programs and a spring break alternative program in England are fully outlined. Students intent on European study have the opportunity to create a MyLearn account on the new website, which helps students stay organized throughout the process of applying for a foreign study program. This, combined with a great deal of information provided about the host countries involved, and the cultures that make these areas home, make the Eurolearn website an informative stop on the way to a great study abroad Europe experience.

For additional information, contact Mona Miller or visit www. Eurolearn. org.

Meetings and Event Planners Turn to Social Networks that Build upon Personal Relationships

Meetings and Event Planners Turn to Social Networks that Build upon Personal Relationships

The majority of meeting and event planners prefer social networks that build upon, instead of replace, personal relationships, according to an HSMAI Affordable Meetings® West pre-conference survey conducted by J. Spargo & Associates, Inc. and independently analyzed by 20|20 Assessment™ - a service of HVS.

McLean, VA (PRWEB) June 8, 2009

The majority of meeting and event planners prefer social networks that build upon, instead of replace, personal relationships, according to an HSMAI Affordable Meetings® West pre-conference survey conducted by J. Spargo & Associates, Inc. and independently analyzed by 20|20 Assessment™ - a service of HVS.

Sixty-one percent of meeting planners attending the 13th Annual Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International's (HSMAI) Affordable Meetings® West Conference & Exposition at San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif. on June 10-11, 2009, stated that they were engaged on Facebook, and 58 percent were members of LinkedIn. Networking and maintaining relationships were the top benefits cited. Just 13 percent said they were using Twitter.

"Technology is actively leveraged by event planners for a competitive edge, but professionals are consistently relying on tools that strategically engage customers and resources at a broad, in-depth and paced level, rather than provide small, bursts of rather impersonal contacts," stated Dr. James Houran of 20|20 Assessment™. "Event planners still emphasize personal attention as their core business practice, and this is consistent with the current and strong customer demand for enhanced customer service in this era of budget cuts and contingency planning."

Technology continues to be a top priority in 2009 with 70 percent of planners reporting an increase in technology use in meetings management and marketing. Of those respondents, 74 percent commented that the incorporation of the various technologies made their jobs easier. Thirty percent of planners also cited that they would be looking for event planning software suppliers at this year's exposition.

"Holding Affordable Meetings® West in San Jose this year puts us in the backyard of Silicon Valley, which seems like an appropriate backdrop for the Event Technology Expo Preview" said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI. "The ETE preview incorporates educational sessions and suppliers that focus on providing economical solutions for our attendees."

Other resources planners will be seeking at Affordable Meetings® West include hotels and resorts (80 percent), alternate venues (70 percent), promotional items (44 percent), CVB's (43 percent) and entertainment (33 percent).

The "Event Technology Expo" Preview features various suppliers in the exhibit hall and incorporates ETE educational sessions into the conference program. ETE educational sessions include, "Get More Done! A Productivity Workshop with the Email Coach" and "Technology Trends Meeting & Event Planners Need to Know."

More than 600 attendees, representing meeting and event planners from a variety of organizations, with a majority representing corporate, association and independent sectors and the balance from government, non-profit, education, religious and medical/health care organizations, trade show management and the military, are expected to visit HSMAI's Affordable Meetings® West 2009 show. Attendance at HSMAI's Affordable Meetings® West is free-of-charge for qualified meeting planners.

Booth space is still available at the West Show and can be obtained by contacting Craig Baker, account manager, J. Spargo & Associates, Inc. (703) 679-3942, e-mail: amexhibits(at)jspargo. com.

Other shows for 2009 include HSMAI's Affordable Meetings® National and Event Technology Expo, Sept. 9-10, 2009, Walter E. Washington Convention Center - Washington, D. C.

Rimol Greenhouse Systems & American Hydroponics Grow Winning Partnership

Rimol Greenhouse Systems & American Hydroponics Grow Winning Partnership

A New Hampshire greenhouse manufacturer and a California hydroponics company are hoping that their budding East/West relationship will be one that bears fruit for their customers and the environment.

Hooksett, NH (PRWEB) January 5, 2011

A New Hampshire greenhouse manufacturer and a California hydroponics company are hoping that their budding East/West relationship will be one that bears fruit for their customers and the environment.

Hooksett, NH-based Rimol Greenhouse Systems (RGS) and Arcata, California-based American Hydroponics (AmHydro) announced today that they have entered a partnership for the mutual goal of providing growers with exceptional value and service in total design and implementation of greenhouses and hydroponic systems.

“Given the unprecedented rise of the hydroponics industry and the fact that more and more people are recognizing the benefits of locally grown food, this partnership makes sense on so many different levels,” said Rimol Greenhouse Systems Founder Bob Rimol. “As industry leaders in our individual disciplines, we understand that by partnering, we can offer our customers the best possible blueprint and game plan to grow healthier and safer food for themselves and their neighbors.”

Hydroponic plant cultivation is an efficient method of achieving maximum production in minimal space, without soil, by recirculating minerals dissolved in water. As an established branch of horticulture, hydroponics uses 1/10th the amount of water as a regular farm to produce the same amount of food. When coupled with greenhouses, no harmful pesticides or herbicides are required ensuring optimum plant and human health.

RGS designs, manufactures and installs greenhouse structures and systems that control light, temperature (heating and cooling), CO2 and the overall environment. Even insect control is factored into the overall greenhouse design, which also takes into account the best crops to grow, budget and revenue expectations.

Located in a 16,000-square-foot manufacturing facility overlooking the foothills, green pastures and tall redwoods in Humboldt County, California, American Hydroponics has been providing state-of-the-art crop performance products and services for people to grow crops successfully for the past 26 years. American Hydroponics currently has the highest rate of successful growers using their commercial hydroponic systems than any other system manufacturer and looks forward to combining their skills and expertise with their new partner.

“RGS shares our belief that the well-being of the environment is everyone’s responsibility and that water and land conservation is more important than ever before,” said American Hydroponics President Michael Christian. “Recognizing the fact that a smarter approach to farming has become a necessity to preserve farmland and other natural resources, the synergy between our two companies is natural and the relationship extremely beneficial to our customers.”

One company that has already benefited from the partnership is Hackettstown, New Jersey-based Greenway Flowers, which has expanded their traditional floral business to also include hydroponic, food-producing greenhouses. With a new, state-of-the-art RGS greenhouse outfitted with an American Hydroponics lettuce growing system, Greenway is now diversifying their business and finding a new revenue stream.

“Today Mom and Pop florists have to compete against supermarkets, online companies and imported flowers. In order to ensure our long-term sustainability as a business, we needed to branch out and add something new,” said Greenway Flowers Owner George Cummings. “With the greenhouse and lettuce growing systems, we have a new product, new customers and enhanced cash flow. Now, instead of just being florists, we’re also learning to farm.”

BigHand awarded tender contract at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

London, UK (PRWEB) July 8, 2009

BigHand has today announced that it has been selected by Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust as their preferred supplier of digital dictation technology. After a successful pilot and subsequent public tender process, the Trust will now roll out BigHand software trust-wide to over 400 users across 4 sites with the intention of improving document turnaround times, reducing administrative costs and providing an easy to use interface for staff involved in the dictation and transcription process.

Digital dictation facilitates the instant submission of dictations containing crucial patient data, coupled with report tracking and turnaround alerts, and enhanced sound quality. These factors eliminate the administrative delays caused by analogue tape equipment and supports Trusts in meeting key national health targets. BigHand technology itself is renowned for offering the network resilience required when moving thousands of sizable digital voice files around a Trust infrastructure, and for the ease-of-use that quickly ensures staff buy-in.

Pam Green, IM&T Project Manager commented:

''BigHand will allow us to eradicate the costs of our current analogue tape equipment and provide the ability to transfer work across sites and between secretaries electronically, thus allowing quick turnaround typing times to meet Trust targets."

BigHand digital dictation has enabled many Trusts to enhance the level of patient care they are able to provide to their local communities, and has been identified as a key tool in assisting Trusts trim costs and increase the efficiency of consultants, doctors and medical secretaries. Other NHS Trusts currently using BigHand software Trust-wide include Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust.

ShareholdersÂ’ Meeting 2003 - ABAS Software AG: Making a Profit for the ninth Year running

ShareholdersÂ’ Meeting 2003 - ABAS Software AG: Making a Profit for the ninth Year running

On July 18, 2003 the shareholders, the CEO and the Supervisory Board of ABAS Software AG met for the shareholders' meeting in the Renaissance Hotel, Karlsruhe / Germany. Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Peter Walser, and Chairman of the Executive Board, Werner Strub, reported on the business trend of ABAS Software AG to the shareholders which were present.

(PRWEB) October 3, 2003

Making Profits in 2002 - a slow year for ERP

2002 has been a difficult year for the IT industry, being affected by recession and a decrease in investments. Despite this and a decrease in turnover, ABAS (www. abas. de) has managed to come out of the red for a ninth year running. Although this was a more moderate income than in previous years, it demonstrates careful cost management. The overall performance of the Karlsruhe software manufacturer was kEUR 5,928 in 2002, in comparison to kEUR 6,864 in 2001. The resulting figure from ordinary operations was kEUR 18. The equity capital at kEUR 2,506 remained almost unchanged when compared to 2001. The equity capital amounts to 80% of the balance sheet total. In comparison: medium-sized businessÂ’ in Germany have an average equity capital of only 18%. On the basis of excellent liquidity, ABAS is financially independent and finances itself using its own resources. The Board of Management and the Board of Directors left the shareholdersÂ’ meeting in 2002 after having made a unanimous decision. The annual shareholders' meeting approved a distribution of company profits as follows: 4 % for the common shares and 8 % for the preferred shares. The basis for valuation for the distribution is the nominal value of the share.

Continued Success with the Software Partner Network

A network of software partners is responsible for the sale of ABAS products. This method of sales proved very successful – for all parties involved. There were good results in the German speaking area, and also Spain and Hungary, during the reporting period. The expansion abroad in 2002 has certainly paid off, and will continue in the year 2003. It is because of this that ABAS was able to win over software partners in the expanding Asia-Pacific region in countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, China and Australia in 2003. The abas Partner Network also expanded in Europe and North America. Qualified abas Software Partners are responsible for distribution and sales, support and service for abas Business Software in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands and Canada. Software partnerships in more countries are being planned. International software license turnover is already 15% and is increasing steadily. There is also the positive aspect of the company becoming gradually more independent of the domestic market.

Substantial Growth

Werner Strub, CEO, expanded on the company outlook: „ABAS is setting the course for healthy growth in the future. Elementary developments of abas Business Software, such as ERP web applications, are being increasingly demanded on the market. ERP software on Linux is now more important than ever on the IT market. The ABAS customers and ABAS themselves profit hugely from this expanding area. The level of prominence of ABAS has increased substantially in the past years. abas Business Software stands for quality, competence, innovation, modern technology, service and a high level of customer satisfaction. In the first 6 months of 2003 there has been a distinct increase in the incoming orders compared to the first 6 months of 2002: 65% more software licenses for workstations were sold. We anticipate a further increase in comparison to last year when we have the 2003 trading results.

ABAS Software AG – Company Profile

More than 1,400 customers have opted for ABAS as their IT specialist and for the integrated abas Business Software which has become one of the most successful ERP programs on the international market during the past years. ABAS’ customer list includes leading small to mid-sized companies from various industries. The list includes such well-known enterprises as Würth Elektronik, Dortmunder Westfalenhallen, Mafell, Robbe, Lufthansa LEOS and HOMA pumpenfabrik.

Customer service is very important at ABAS Software AG. A professional network of over 400 organizational and application consultants in the IT industry provides the backbone of ABAS Software AG’s customer service. abas Software Partners deliver on-site customer care and provide a full range of services – from implementation to hardware and network support to customization and a help desk. Approximately 40 partners ensure fast reaction times and high quality. International partners in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand and the USA represent ABAS Software AG throughout the world. Our list of partners is constantly expanding.

Abas Business Software – Product Portrait

Abas Business Software is a flexible, adaptable and future-proof complete business solution (ERP, PPC, MRP, eBusiness) for mid-sized businesses. abas Business Software consists of two components: abas ERP, a flexible ERP standard software, which optimizes business processes within a company, and abas eB, an integrated eBusiness module, which is compatible with a variety of Internet applications.

As a result, abas users are always using the most up-to-date product. abas-Business-Software can be used with Linux, Unix and Windows. ABAS has supported the open source operating system Linux since 1995. Singapore Medicine -- Healthcare Quality Where It Counts

Singapore Medicine -- Healthcare Quality Where It Counts

Singapore Medicine, a department of the Singapore Tourism Board, announces that Singapore has achieved a quality score in healthcare that puts it well on par with the most medically advanced countries worldwide.

Singapore (PRWEB) September 18, 2008

Measuring quality in healthcare has always been difficult. To go beyond mere platitudes, accolades and hygiene factors means getting into specific clinical indicators.

In both the private and public sectors, Singapore's hospitals and medical centers (http://www. singaporemedicine. com/index. asp) have achieved outcomes that equal and even surpass those in the developed West.

The numbers speak for themselves, numbers that made Singapore Asia's Leading Medical Hub (http://www. singaporemedicine. com/leadingmedhub/leadingmedhub1.asp).

"There are several indicators used worldwide to benchmark the quality of hospital care, such as MRSA infection rate and the time lag for commencement of antibiotic therapy," explains Dr S. Thanasekaran, Chief Medical Officer at ParkwayHealth, one of Singapore's premier private healthcare groups.

The "superbug" MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) is a highly dangerous and drug resistant bacterium known to cause hospital-acquired infections. A low MRSA rate indicates greater effectiveness of infection control measures being implemented.

"For the first half of 2008, we have consistently achieved lower-than-target MRSA rate of 0.33 in our hospitals. This compares very favorably to the US national average of around 2.4 percent, as published in the American Journal of Infection Control," says Dr Thanasekaran.

Another indicator often used as a pointer for good hospital care is response time for the administration of emergency medication. The timely use of antibiotics in cases of pneumonia caused by bacteria, for example, can lower the mortality rate by as much as 15 percent.

"The current standard internationally is for antibiotic therapy to begin within four hours after admission. We have successfully kept above the 90th percentile mark even as we aim for 100 percent compliance. Again, this compares well to the US national average of around 80 percent," says Dr Thanasekaran.

An even sharper contrast can be seen for Ventilator-Associated Pneumonias. Patients cared for in Intensive Care Units often required artificial ventilation, which introduces the risk of ICU-acquired chest infections. These patients are seriously ill and additional hospital-acquired infections compromise their condition further. It has been estimated that between 15% and 40% of patients on mechanical ventilation for more than 48 hours develop pneumonia.

In 2005, the average Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia rate in coronary care units in Singapore was 2.53 per 1000 ventilator days, compared to the pooled mean of 4.4 and pooled median of 4.0 respectively in the US National Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Report 2004.

Singapore's good showing is not limited to its private healthcare providers. The nation's public hospitals, too, have left their marks in such specialized fields as cardiology, gynecology and obstetrics.

The National University Hospital, one of the region's top teaching and medical research hospitals, has consistently garnered good reviews backed by statistics for its cardiology program.
Recently published indicators showed that NUH has up to 75 percent fewer heart failure mortalities within a 30-day period compared to its peers. Their re-hospitalization rate for heart failure patients, too, is significantly lower than the international standard.

Over at the KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) -- Singapore's largest maternity facility -- the perinatal mortality rate for fetuses 24 weeks and above stands at just 5.38 per 1,000 births -- one of the lowest in the world. This compares to eight in the UK and 10 in Australia.

"We have moved well beyond international benchmarks in some areas. For example, the current standard as set by the United Kingdom's Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology for emergency Caesarean sections is 30 minutes' interval time between the decision and time of delivery. Here at KKH, we have cut that lag time down to a mere seven to eight minutes," says A/Prof Tan Kok Hian, Chairman of KKH's O & G Division.

A member of the Vermont Oxford Network which collates information about the care and outcome of high-risk newborns, KKH's neonatal department is now placed in the best quartile amongst 600 neonatal intensive care units worldwide.

Singapore's steady climb up the medical ranks is no accident. Currently ranked sixth best in the world and best in Asia by the World Health Organization, the tiny nation-state has worked hard for its string of successes.

"Singapore's medical infrastructure has been well designed and our medical training is rigorous. Also, we have a medical audit system that helps us track our progress in various areas. This ensures that we constantly review our standards," shares A/Prof Tan.

This sentiment is echoed by Dr Thanasekaran of ParkwayHealth, "Our hospitals are committed to continuously quality improvement. We aim to exceed globally recognized benchmarks in order to offer all our patients the best possible care."

Sedona Labs Launches All-New Healthy Pets Supplements With Human Quality Ingredients!

Sedona Labs Launches All-New Healthy Pets Supplements With Human Quality Ingredients!

Sedona Labs, a leading supplement company based in Northern Arizona’s red rock country, announces an all-new probiotic and nutritional supplement line for pets, which is now available in fine natural retailers and pet stores.

Cottonwood, AZ (PRWEB) July 27, 2010

America is having a love affair with its pets. The 2009-2010 National Pet Owners Survey reports that 62% of American households own a pet, or about 71 million homes. In 2010, American households will spend an estimated $47.7 billion on their pets, primarily in food and supplies/OTC medicine.

Nutrition is key for pet owners, who now more than ever seek to maintain their pets’ overall wellness and quality of life. The good news is that there has never been a better time for pet nutrition in terms of formulation, research, clinical breakthroughs and the sheer quality of pet supplementation. Now, more than ever, pet health is about premium nutrients for preventative care.

Human-Grade Pet Nutrition

“We discovered what we viewed as a real gap within the supplements industry,” says Donna Cappiello, Sedona Labs National Sales Director. “There seemed to be a disproportional emphasis placed on the quality of human supplements versus the quality of pet supplements. You hear so much about premium ingredients for people, but what about human-grade ingredients for our pets?”

“Our pets are members of our families,” says Cappiello. “They impact every aspect of our lives. We want to give them the same care and nourishment we’d give any family member.”

Sedona Labs has formulated two pet supplements using the very same nutrients featured in their well-known consumer products. “The quality of our nutrients always comes first at Sedona Labs,” says Cappiello. “We select only the finest ingredient sources for both our human and pet supplements.”

IFlora Healthy Pets Promotes Balanced Digestion

Probiotics, or beneficial flora that help replenish natural, health-supporting colonies in the digestive tract, top many consumers’ lists of “must-have” nutrients. Probiotics promote digestive and immune health from the body’s center, the digestive system.

Probiotics can do the same for pets, by helping to support a balanced internal microflora colony for healthy elimination, digestion, immune health, bladder health, and colon health.

“We’ve combined five well-researched probiotic strains with 18 vegetarian enzymes to produce a truly complete digestive formula – iFlora® Health Pets,” says Cappiello. “You will not find a pet supplement on the market that compares to the quality and unique formulation of this product.”

Sedona Labs iFlora® Healthy Pets features:
5 probiotic strains for healthy bowels, digestion, and a healthy urinary tract  18 vegetarian digestive enzymes for nutrient breakdown support in the stomach and small intestine  A shelf stable, proprietary powder available in 2.1 and 4.2 oz sizes

“Three of the digestive enzymes in iFlora® Health Pets are enteric coated,” says Cappiello, “which means they reach the small intestine to support digestion there as well as in the stomach.”

Healthy Pets Supports Immune Health

In addition to iFlora® Healthy Pets, Sedona Labs is also offering Colostrum Healthy Pets, a 100% New Zealand colostrum formula.

“New Zealand colostrum sets the mark for purity,” says Cappiello. “It is gathered from range-fed herds and is guaranteed free of hormones, pesticides, and steroids. Our New Zealand colostrum is never exposed to prolonged high heat to ensure purity.”

Colostrum, often called “The first food of life” for the nourishing health benefits it offers mammals before mother’s first milk, is all-natural and appropriate for adult and newborn animals. Colostrum supports immune health and intestinal lining health, a center for immunity in your pet’s body.

Sedona Labs Colostrum Healthy Pets features:
100% Pure New Zealand Colostrum  Over 90 health supporting nutrients and growth factors  A potent colostrum powder available in a 12 oz size

“Our Colostrum Healthy Pets formula includes a small amount of natural fat,” says Cappiello, “which promotes efficient absorption. It is a nourishing, healthy addition to any pet’s balanced diet.”

Sedona Labs all-new Healthy Pets products are recommended for cats and dogs and are available in select health food and pet stores. Hawaii US Senate 2006 GOP Candidate Eddie Pirkowski's Platform Creates Hawaii Leaders with Respect, Commitment, Trust, Equality in the Style of Lincoln, and, Kennedy

Hawaii US Senate 2006 GOP Candidate Eddie Pirkowski's Platform Creates Hawaii Leaders with Respect, Commitment, Trust, Equality in the Style of Lincoln, and, Kennedy

US Senate Hawaii platform goals for the state of Hawaii includes far reaching leadership to create strong leaders in Hawaii with respect worldwide. Hawaii is currently a leader in technology, agribusiness, "green" communities," defense, and crisis management. The islands will backup critical US based infrastructure by state, and all core US businesses by industry. This backup and disaster recovery backbone will form the basis for $100B+ of new business by industry here in Hawaii. These business relationships, and partnerships will complement existing Hawaii core industries of tourism, hospitality, food, agribusiness, real estate, construction, health care, high technology, defense and associated industries. As one of the US Senate's Hawaii leaders, this platform restores respect, trust and, honor in both public, private, and, nonprofit services throughout Hawaii, and the US, and thereby strengthen our defense with renewed respect on the world stage.

Honolulu, HI (PRWEB) August 17, 2006

Good morning, this leadership platform to reach the US Senate in Hawaii complements Hawaii GOP leader Governor Linda Lingle's to create new leadership for Hawaii in the US Senate in the style of Lincoln, and Kennedy. The goal is Hawaii state, county, and local government of inclusion, respect, commitment, trust and equality for all people.

US Senate Hawaii platform goals for the state of Hawaii are far reaching, and includes creating strong leaders in Hawaii that are respected worldwide.

As one of the US Senate's Hawaii leaders, restore respect, trust and, honor in both public, private, and, nonprofit services throughout Hawaii, and the US, and thereby strengthen our defense with renewed respect on the world stage.

It has been far too long for creation of Hawaiian sovereignty with respect for all, therefore immediate dual citizenship status (US & Hawaiian Passports) with appropriate US Federal, State, County, City & Hawaii recognition.

Because of the location of Hawaii, from New York and Japan, it is the perfect location for 24 hour trading worldwide. The creation of a new Hawaii Stock Exchange (HSX) , will bring retail, proprietary, and specialist trading, private equity, private hedge funds, venture capital, and derivatives risk platforms capital with partnerships with US, EEC & Asian exchange leaders.

The State of Hawaii will use $100M+ of the current $500M+ surplus to create the nations only AAA credit rating for Hawaii (currently AA - rating is highest in the nation) in order, to create a derivatives hedging exchange to reduce risk, reduce State, and County cost of borrowing, increase rates of return on investment, and prepay interest on long term debt.

America was built on the strength, and creativity of its immigrant population, therefore I recommend immigration reform including restoration of respect to all citizens and, to provide all with a 100% path to US citizenship.

100% independence for all the islands of Hawaii for Energy, Food, Transportation, Health Care, Housing, Agribusiness, Defense, and Government.

A renewed focus on Hawaii's children, "keiki" with increased funding, and focus on flexibility in education, new scholarships, new UH extensions, new UH distance learning programs, new tools, supplies, internet education, and, high technology access including laptops and access to high speed servers and internet (Internet2) for all pre-school to post graduate school students including islandwide advanced wireless internet networks in all our communities.

UH extensions programs, and facilities for all Islands will increase leadership, include extensions for the medical school / teaching hospitals, new large and small animal veterinary centers, energy centers, transportation hubs, agribusiness centers, life sciences, and engineering technology centers. These provide a path for our children and our families to reach advanced learning without leaving the island of our choice. The choice of home defines the potential of each island to reach the goals of "green" self sustaining communities on all our islands.

The focus on preventative medical care, high technology and local medical specialist access, and support for existinng and new facilities by community on all Hawaiian islands including Maui, Hawaii, Molokai, Kauai and Oahu must be the decision of each of our Mayors. These mayors deserve a debt of gratitude for continuing to lead, and make strong decisions for our common future.

Hawaii's rich diversity of plants and animals provides a wealth of diversity. This diversity will create a UH genetic biodiversity database of all Hawaii native plants, and animals to guarantee our future with respect for our common past.

New advanced transportation systems will focus on independent "green" walking communities, with new private and, public buses, and increased route coverage for all our seniors and children.

Development of advanced transportation systems for 100% independent transportation by island for Air, Land, Sea, and Rail.

Private and Public Partnerships will create over $100B+ of new business by Industry in the Hawaiian Islands with advanced transaction grids to share revenues, paydown taxes, and create a surplus to invest to ensure our future. All Hawaii islands surpluses can be used as a foundation for strength here in Hawaii, and as an example to the rest of the US.

Decentralized leadership of each islands county "wait list",and decentrallized control of planning will allow leaders by community to take ownership of and increase both the effectiveness and to reduce the wait time for planning and development of advanced "green" communities, and needed infrastructures to support current, and plan for solid future needs.

The specific focus of agribusiness will provide 100% of each islands Hawaii food production, distribution and 100% sustainable independence by island. The replanting, and regreening of all islands will heighten the tourist experience, and the aina of the land for the people of Hawaii. The "road to Hana" on Maui must be regreened and tropical including developing all park areas and setting aside lands with long term large scale koa reforestation projects for all islands. The beauty of our islands is unparalled, and needs to be replenished for a strong and beautiful future for our children.

Reduce Taxes for all ages and income groups, by increasing the minimum wage to $9.50 and the home exemption to $500k+ effectively doubling revenues to create a budget surplus of $1B+ for Hawaii. These funds will paydown real estate, and other taxes to reduce the impact on fixed income seniors, middle income wage earners, the young, and the poor.

New community urban city revitalization programs will include new technology, industry centers, transaction grids, multi-use buildings, walking communities, and low income housing with a goal of 100% independent services by community. New home incentives for owners to develop urban botanical gardens, victory backyard gardens including plants, vegetables, and native Hawaiian flowers will revitalize neigborhoods and balance in family life.

Entertainment infrastructure on the islands will include building new and updating existing sports/entertainment facilities by island to allow professional baseball, football, and soccer teams, movies, and world class concerts in Hawaii. An emphasis on PAL will bring both state, county and city workers closer together with the families of our islands. These are the huis which create our family structure by community and need to be nourished to sustain respect of the youth for the leaders in our state, the everyday heros the moms, dads, grandpas, and grandmas, the ohana anties and uncles.
