The Disney brand was represented in the show by :30 spots on new releases "Bridge to Terabithia", "Wild Hogs" and "Meet The Robinsons", with the Disney Buena Vista Home Entertainment brand advertising its new DVD release of "The Prestige".

Warner Bros. bought its :30 in Academy Awards Movie Magic for the new Hugh Grant - Drew Barrymore romantic musical comedy "Music and Lyrics", while the Warner Home Entertainment brand placed its :15 spot for the DVD release of Martin Scorsese's Best Picture and Best Director Oscar winner "The Departed" as a unique "closed captioning brought to you by" sponsor.

Harvey Weinstein's Weinstein Company used Academy Awards Movie Magic to trumpet "Factory Girl", its racy 'R' rated Edie Sedgwick bio-drama starring Sienna Miller, with a :30 running in rotation with a second :30 for the new wide re-release rollout of the other Weinstein bio-drama: the Renee Zellweger starrer "Miss Potter".

The company behind the show, Hollywood Close-Ups, Inc., gave the movie studios special accommodation by putting up a series of three different nationwide satellite feeds during the February 10 thru February 25 Academy Awards Movie Magic broadcast window, so that creative commercial content material could be changed to reflect opening dates.

The :30 for Disney's "Bridge to Terabithia", for example, began with an "Opening February 16" tag and switched for the second show feed to a "Now Playing" tag.

Likewise, Warner Home Entertainment's :15 for "The Departed" DVD release advertised its February 13 HiDef street date in the first satellite transmission and switched to an "Own It Now" tagline for the show's second feed. Meanwhile, Disney's Buena Vista Home Entertainment :30 for "The Prestige" proclaimed "Own It on DVD and Blu-ray Disc February 20" during the first two feeds of Academy Awards Movie Magic, switching to an "Own It Now" tag for the show's 3rd feed.

The only non-studio spot in Academy Awards Movie Magic is a :30 purchased by the John Paul Mitchell hair care products, promoting a new shampoo with the slogan "only your salon guarantees the real Paul Mitchell."

Since then, he has been hosting three national specials every year: "Summer Movie Magic", "Holiday Movie Magic" and "Academy Awards Movie Magic" (with friend Jack Nicholson recurring), all syndicated by his Hollywood Close-Ups, Inc. production and distribution company headquartered in Studio City, CA.

Sheehan is the father of three children, all doing business in and around the Hollywood area. His son Brian is owner/operator of the Eclectic Wine Bar & Grill, his daughter Shannon is a real estate developer, and his daughter Kelly is a recording studio engineer and producer for pop music stars Kenny "Babyface" Edmunds, Tyrese Gibson and Usher.

His articles on philosophers Michael and Dennis Murphy gave America its first view of the legendary 'Human Potentiality Movement' at Big Sur's Esalen Institute, which also took readers through an actual psychedelic experience guided by Sheehan's interview subjects Timothy Leary and Richard ("Baba Ram Dass") Alpert.

In the late 1960's, Sheehan was producer, actor and director of L. A.'s Theater Now Troupe, producing the West Coast Premieres of plays by Edward Albee, Norman Mailer and Jules Feiffer. The Sheehan production of Feiffer's "Little Murders" broke box office records in 1969.

Sheehan is also the author of one published novel "Before I Wake", under the nom de plume David Dury. The book's editor was "Tropic of Capricorn" author Henry Miller. Sheehan is currently working on his second book.

Honoring innovative planning and planners across the nation and the globe, the American Planning Association today announced the 12 recipients of its 2009 National Planning Excellence, Achievement, and Leadership Awards.

APA's national awards program, the profession's highest honor, is a proud tradition established more than 50 years ago to recognize outstanding community plans, planning programs and initiatives, public education efforts, and individuals for their leadership on planning issues.

The Daniel Burnham Award for a Comprehensive Plan honors a comprehensive plan that advances the science and art of planning. The award honors America's most famous planner, Daniel Burnham, for his contributions to the planning profession and to a greater awareness of the benefits of good planning. Two plans were honored this year:

Greensburg Sustainable Comprehensive Plan, Greensburg, Kansas
The Greensburg Sustainable Plan reflects the community's vision of rebuilding based on their respect for the land and a sustainable future after a devastating tornado leveled 90 percent of the agriculture community in southwestern Kansas.

Kigali Comprehensive Plan Master Plan, Kigali, Rwanda, Africa
The Kigali City Master Plan was developed through a series of public workshops--held in both French and Kinyarwanda--informational and technical seminars, and stakeholder meetings. The plan underscored the importance of creating an exciting and responsible development strategy while encouraging actions to implement it.

Paul Davidoff National Award for Social Change and Diversity honors a project, group, or individual demonstrating a sustained social commitment to advocacy involving planning. Honored this year:

Caño Martín Peña Special Planning District Plan, Puerto Rico
The plan is designed to rehabilitate the Caño Martín Peña Special Planning District area where thousands of people live in dense, inadequate housing along a tidal channel, and to integrate the community with the larger San Juan area. Strategies include boosting economic development, cleaning up the environment, and increasing educational opportunities for residents. The comprehensive scope of the plan, together with community participation and commitment from the government, are unprecedented in Puerto Rico.

AICP National Planning Pioneer Award
This award honors individuals whose contributions to planning profession have significantly and positively redirected planning with long-term results.

David Wallace, AICP (1917 - 2004)
Described as one of the greats in the fields of planning and urban design in the 20th century, the late David Wallace contributed significantly as a professional, as a builder of communities, and as a teacher.

Wallace, who planned numerous award-winning projects in Philadelphia, New York City and Baltimore, created a legacy of sound planning and intelligent urban design. He showed immense foresight in his designs and carved a path for others to follow. One project alone - his work on Baltimore's Inner Harbor - continues to inspire planners to this day.

National Planning Excellence Award for Best Practice
This award is given for a specific planning tool, practice, program, project, or process that advances elements of planning.

Design for Health, Minnesota
Design for Health (DHF) aims to bridge the gap between urban design, healthy living, and local government planning. The DFH team, composed of experts in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, planning, and public health, created a variety of innovative, practice-oriented tools to integrate health research into the practice of urban planning and environmental design.

National Planning Excellence Award for a Grassroots Initiative
This award honors an initiative that illustrates how a community utilized the planning process to address a need extending beyond the traditional scope of planning.

Lower Italian Market Revitalization Project, South Philadelphia
The Lower Italian Market Revitalization Project is being honored for its efforts to devise innovative solutions, mobilize volunteers, and build momentum for revitalizing this important commercial corridor in South Philadelphia. Their plan addresses green elements, public art, and contemporary concepts that specifically apply to this dense urban area.

National Planning Achievement Award for a Hard-Won Victory
This award recognizes a planning effort undertaken by a community, neighborhood, citizens group, or jurisdiction in the face of difficult, challenging, or adverse conditions.

Great Miami Drinking Water Protection Project
The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana (OKI) Regional Council of Governments faced an enormous - and critical - challenge: how to help the economically challenged Village of New Miami in Ohio protect drinking water for itself and its neighbors. Working through local political turmoil, and coordinating with New Miami leaders, business people and residents, the OKI helped the village adopt a new plan and ordinance to safeguard its groundwater, an important natural resource that supplies seven public water systems serving more than 300,000 people.

National Planning Excellence Award for Implementation
This award recognizes a project that demonstrates a significant achievement for an area -- a single community or a region -- in accomplishing positive changes as a result of planning. The award emphasizes long-term, measurable results that have been in continuous effect for a minimum of five years.

Livable Centers Initiative, Atlanta, GA
The Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) is a grant program of the Atlanta Regional Commission that encourages local jurisdictions to link transportation improvements with land use development. Through its work, LCI has encouraged a diversity of mixed-use neighborhoods in the Atlanta area, placing frequented destinations within walking or biking distance.

National Excellence Award for Innovation in Regional Planning
This award recognizes innovative plans, programs, tools, or related efforts that promote and strengthen support for regional planning.

Orange County Great Park Comprehensive Master Plan, Orange County, Calif.
The California park's plan knits together the communities of Southern California while restoring the region's natural heritage. The 1,347-acre park, being built on the site of the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, will serve Orange County's 3.2 million residents offering numerous recreational opportunities and vast open spaces.

National Planning Leadership Award
This awards recognizes an individual, appointed official, or elected official who has advanced or promoted the cause of planning in the public arena.

Professor John Nolon, Pace Law School, New York
As a professor at Pace Law School, Nolon has worked tirelessly not only to promote sound land-use planning, but also to train and inspire others to become passionate advocates.

Nolon founded the Land Use Law Center at Pace Law School in 1993 and now serves as its counsel and as a Professor of Law. As part of his work, Nolon created the Land Use Leadership Alliance (LULA) Training Program, the nation's most extensive land-use training program for local planners and leaders. The intensive four-day program teaches and inspires land use leaders and planners to be effective agents of change in their communities and has trained more than 1,000 planners in the Hudson River Valley. Local leaders credit him with helping to protect the area's fragile natural resources.

National Planning Leadership Award for a Student Planner
This awards recognizes a student in the final year of a Planning Accreditation Board-approved planning program for outstanding achievement during the nominee's academic career in planning.

Emilia Mendoza, San Jose State University, California
Emilia Mendoza, a planning graduate student, is being honored for her exceptional service to her fellow students, nonprofit organizations, and her community. Only one graduate student is recognized annually.

2009 Public Outreach Award
This award recognizes an individual, project, or program that uses information and education about the value of planning and how planning improves a community's quality of life.

According to Hays, specialist recruitment, the acute shortage of qualified workers, which continues to plague the nursing sector, is particularly apparent for A&E, critical care (ITU), theatre, intensive care (ICU) and emergency medicine nurses.

"Without a doubt, there is a shortage of nurses in the UK. The available talent from abroad throws an important lifeline given the pressing need for skilled nurses. Around 10% of nurses working in the UK have trained abroad and it is important that skills shortages in the healthcare sector continue to be addressed where possible, using labour from overseas where necessary," added Simon Hudson, the new Director of Hays Global Resourcing.

Harvel® Plastics, Inc., has received certification by NSF International as being in compliance with new "lead-free" standards regarding drinking water plumbing components. The new standards will be adopted January 1, 2010, in California.

Known as AB 1953, the new California law mandates that any pipe, pipe fittings, and plumbing fittings and fixtures used to convey or dispense water for human consumption have no more than 0.25 percent lead in wetted surfaces as determined by a weighted average. Furthermore, the law requires certification by an independent American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited third party, such as NSF International. The California Department of Public Health is developing standards for building officials to implement and enforce compliance with the new regulation. Vermont is also adopting similar "lead-free" standards as of the beginning of the year.

"These laws are the most stringent mandates on lead content levels in the country. Harvel is proud to be one of the first PVC and CPVC pipe manufacturers to meet these requirements that affect the drinking water supply to more than 12% of the total U. Rightmove, the number one property website, has published its September 2009 House Price Index (http://www. rightmove. co. uk/news/house-price-index) and reports that the onset of the Autumn moving season has seen new sellers asking an average of 0.6% more for their properties than last month. Rightmove has also recorded the lowest average stock levels per branch for 18 months, with 29% more properties coming off the market than coming to the market.

The lack of choice in popular areas and high deposit requirements are combining to deter existing home owners from taking advantage of more buoyant market conditions to trade up. Miles Shipside, commercial director of Rightmove, comments: "There's an Autumn window for new sellers where a sensible asking price combined with this better market could get you traded up into your next home before Christmas. Some would-be sellers may be concerned by the limited choice of suitable property currently available, and will have to decide whether to take a chance on finding something fresh to the market after they have found a buyer. This increases the risk and stress of moving, but with choice getting increasingly limited in popular areas they need to have a buyer lined up to improve their chances of securing their next home".

The brisker market continues to erode stock levels as sold or withdrawn property is removed from the market. One agent's summary of trading conditions in August was: "Sales awesome, new listings dreadful". The average unsold stock per estate agency branch has dipped to 69, after 17 months in the 70s. This is the lowest level since February 2008. With circa 20% fewer branches than in 2008, the fall in stock levels is made more pointed. New seller numbers are averaging around 23,000 a week, giving a run rate of around 1.2 million a year. Historic figures from Rightmove show that potential buyers have previously enjoyed a choice from around 2 million properties a year. With 151,591 properties measured as coming off the market this month, it is easy to see why property scarcity in popular areas is underpinning price levels.

Evidence that trading up is the domain of the cash-rich comes from the latest Rightmove Consumer Survey of potential movers' circumstances. With 53% of those polled stating that they had over 50% equity in their existing homes, it illustrates that the current activity in the property market now depends to an unhealthy degree on those with substantial equity.

Shipside adds: "Many aspiring sellers could face years trapped in their homes until values rise enough for them to join the equity-rich club, and even then they will be heavily dependent on the number of bottom-of-the-chain first-time-buyers. Confidence is up, stock is down, and the number of people searching is high. There are lots of positives but too few buyers can put down the 40% deposits that are needed in order to secure the best mortgage deals. Finance greases the wheels of the property market, and it is anybody's guess when we might see the necessary level of competitive funding return.
