WhatÂ’s the Best Way to Make a Hormone? Naturally!

WhatÂ’s the Best Way to Make a Hormone? Naturally!

Hormones used in WHI study not identical to human bodyÂ’s own, not tailored to individual's needs, says hormone specialist Nisha Jackson

(PRWEB) March 5, 2004

Women who are taking or considering hormone treatments received another shock this week when the National Institutes of Health announced that it has halted the estrogen-only phase of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study.

What's a Woman to Do?

Does this mean that women should refuse all types of hormone therapy? Not at all, says hormone specialist Nisha Jackson, Ph. D., a women's practitioner in Medford, Ore. There are safe, effective alternatives to conventional hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Hormone Education

"Women need to educate themselves about how hormonal balance can seriously affect their lives, and in turn how their lifestyle affects their hormone levels," says Jackson. "They also need to know the difference between bioidentical hormones that exactly match those produced by the human body and synthetic hormones, such as those used in this study, that don't."

Not Your Mama's Estrogen

The trademarked pharmaceutical products used in the WHI study are not biologically identical to human hormones and are therefore more likely to cause unwanted side effects. Bioidentical, or natural, hormones are made by a compounding pharmacy to match exactly the body's own hormones and allow choices for dosing, potency and application method (including capsules, creams and patches).

Your Personal Hormone Profile

In her practice Jackson stresses individualized testing. Controlled scientific experiments such as the WHI study use a "one size fits all" approach, giving the same dosage to everyone without regard for each woman's unique needs.

"The key to safe, successful treatment is in getting your hormone levels tested first," says Jackson. "Then you and your healthcare provider can determine the best way to get back in balance." That often includes making some changes in diet and lifestyle in addition to taking natural hormone supplements.

About Nisha Jackson

Jackson, whose clinics have helped thousands of women achieve hormonal harmony, is the author of "The Hormone Survival Guide for Perimenopause: Balance Your Hormones Naturally" (ISBN 0-9742067-0-9, 192 pages, Larkfield Publishing, $14.95). She hosts a popular call-in show Monday through Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 9:00 on radio station KDOV 91.7 FM, broadcast throughout southern Oregon and northern California.

RESPECT! Campaign Launch Rallies Nation to Use Virtual Voices to Speak Out Against Abuse

RESPECT! Campaign Launch Rallies Nation to Use Virtual Voices to Speak Out Against Abuse

Family Violence Prevention Fund and Macy's use mobile and online technology to create a national conversation about domestic and sexual violence.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2008 -

Tomorrow, the Family Violence Prevention Fund (http://www. endabuse. org) (FVPF) and Macy's (http://www. macys. com) will ask the nation to join in marking the first annual National RESPECT! Day(SM). A newly designated observance, National RESPECT! Day will launch a multi-year movement -- the RESPECT! Campaign(SM) (http://www. giverespect. org)-- designed to raise awareness of domestic and dating violence and to encourage positive discourse about prevention by teaching respect.

The launch, which will include employee rallies at more than 600 Macy's stores and on 135 college campuses nationwide, will invite the nation to join the movement by donning the official RESPECT! bracelet and getting out their cell phones to Text RESPECT!(SM).

The RESPECT! bracelet, available exclusively at Macy's and on macys. com, is available for $5 with half of the proceeds from the sale of each bracelet benefiting the RESPECT! Campaign.

Advocates can also demonstrate their support for the movement by texting the keyword "respect" to 41010 - for a goal of 10 million acts of respect for the 10 million children who witness violence in their homes each year1. By doing so, people will be mapped on GiveRespect. org (http://www. giverespect. org) which will be populated by the minute with respect acts across the country.

Participants can also choose to donate $5 via their mobile phones to support the FVPF, one of the nation's leading organizations working to prevent and end violence against women and children, and can invite a friend to join the movement as well.

Why Virtual for a Very Real Cause?

"This is a groundbreaking campaign that will generate greater involvement than we've ever seen before on this issue," said Esta Soler, Founder and President of the FVPF. "We are so grateful to our partners, Macy's, Sugar Inc., and the Mobile Giving Foundation, for bringing powerful new technologies to the work to stop domestic and sexual violence and child abuse. The unprecedented reach these partners - and these technologies - provide will do a tremendous amount to build awareness and promote solutions that prevent violence before it begins."

The FVPF began looking at social media and mobile marketing tools as a new vehicle to engage and mobilize a younger and broader audience in a national dialogue about these issues. For many, this may be their first engagement on violence prevention.

"When the FVPF was established in 1980, the organizing tools that are available today did not exist," Soler added. "Now we can supplement traditional outreach with Facebook-to-Facebook, and cell phone-to-website initiatives. People are concerned about violence and want to take action, but not everyone has a lot of time available. The RESPECT! Campaign will reach people where they are and leverage the power of a cell phone to make a difference. These new mobile and online tools will help us educate and engage new audiences so we can build a foundation of awareness, advocacy, and respect to keep future generations safe."

Respect is central to the FVPF's mission to end violence. One in three women worldwide2 and countless families across this country experience domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Yet, these issues often are hidden and out of public view. In order to create a groundswell of public support for programs that focus on prevention, the FVPF needed a big partner - and Macy's answered the call.

Macy's Joins the Rally

The FVPF has teamed up with Macy's - which has a longtime commitment to ending abuse, but is now putting its consumer-friendly platforms to work on the issue. By doing so, the RESPECT! Campaign will have elevated exposure to educate and involve Americans on a larger scale.

"It is a tragedy that, in this day and age, so many families in this country are torn apart by domestic violence," said Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and CEO of Macy's, Inc. "At Macy's, we know that domestic and sexual violence affect the lives of too many of our associates, customers and communities. We felt it was our responsibility to take a stand and do more to elevate the conversation and to educate and inspire Americans by speaking up and providing unique ways to get personally involved and support the cause."

As part of its continued work to end violence against women and children, Macy's will support the campaign in three primary ways in its first year:
Serve as the exclusive retailer of the official RESPECT! bracelet, with half of the proceeds from the sale of each bracelet benefiting the RESPECT! Campaign. Include the Family Violence Prevention Fund in Macy's annual Shop for a Cause event on Saturday, September 20. Roll out a nationwide employee education/resource program this September to equip each of its stores to support employees that may be experiencing abuse in a relationship.

A World Without Abuse

"Respect is an essential building block for healthy communities and strong societies," Soler added. "It is my dream that we'll be able to look back on this first annual National RESPECT! Day and the launch of this campaign as the beginning of a new kind of social movement that will help end violence against women and children."

Funds raised from the RESPECT! CampaignSM will support education, awareness and training programs that prevent and end violence against women and children by building strong, healthy families and communities. Visit GiveRespect. org today to learn more and become part of the change.

'First For Women' National Magazine

'First For Women' National Magazine

On Monday, April 3, 2006, Laura Dion-Jones Casey will be one of four women featured in "First For Women" magazine, available nationwide at all finer bookstores, grocery stores, and drugstores.

Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) March 31, 2006

On Monday, April 3, 2006, LauraDion-Jones Casey will be one of four women featured in "First For Women" magazine, available nationwide at all finer bookstores, grocery stores, and drugstores.

The feature story tells the central role spirituality and meditation played in Laura's tremendous 130-pound weight loss success story. By calling upon her higher power's help and making meditation a part of her daily routine, Laura lost 130 pounds in 2 1/2 years and has kept it off for over 18 months. Developing walking into a daily habit and cutting white starch and sugar from her diet were also key components to her tremendous weight loss success.

An avid urban walker averaging 48-55 miles a week, Laura can be seen walking daily around Chicago's Gold Coast, Magnificent Mile, River North and Downtown areas, most of the time with her two little Italian Greyhounds. On many morning walks her husband joins her. In 2005, her third year of daily walking, Laura logged 2361.28 miles.

Her extensive background in the hair and fashion industries led her to become one of the nation's first and top Plus Size designers from

1986-1998. She was also one of the nation's first and top Plus Size

Models from 1980-1988. She has dozens of personal appearance makeovers for women as well as men to her credit.

Laura is now a motivational coach. She is writing a How-To/How I Did It book, Pound by Pound: How To Move, Lose Weight, and Stay Motivated 365 Days a Year For The Rest of Your Life (And look fabulous while doing it). She also speaks and writes motivational articles for an online support group (www. poundbypoundonline. com).

Her ability to communicate crosses a diverse demographic. Younger women and men look up to Laura like a cooler, chicer big sister; older gals and guys identify with her because she's not a youngster and see that her motivational coaching can help them look as healthy as she does.

Everybody Laura meets gains the confidence that they, too, can do what she's done - "Commit To Get Fit."

Obesity and poor health have no prejudice and know no bounds, but society has a prejudice toward overweight people no matter how wealthy, famous or powerful they are. Laura's motivational techniques raise people's awareness of lifestyle choices so that they can take control of their weight, their fitness, their appearance, their self-esteem and their life.

Ms. Dion-Jones Casey looks forward to this national exposure. She hopes readers are encouraged to walk daily, eat healthier and take action to live a longer, happier, more fit life. Advice for achieving your own weight loss success story can be found at her motivational website and at her blog (http://motivation. poundbypoundonline. net (http://motivation. poundbypoundonline. net)).

Bottom line: You gotta wanna, and Laura makes people wanna and then shows them how.

A sample chapter of Laura’s book, Pound by Pound: How To Move, Lose Weight, and Stay Motivated 365 Days a Year For The Rest of Your Life (And look fabulous while doing it) is posted on her website (www. poundbypoundonline. com). Click on “The Book” tab for pdf.

Healthcare IT Industry Poised for 10 Year Growth Spurt

Healthcare IT Industry Poised for 10 Year Growth Spurt

New York (PRWEB) October 27, 2005

Bolstered by President Bush’s Spring 2004 call for the creation of electronic medical records (EMRs) for most American’s within 10 years, the clinical IT industry is headed for rapid expansion, according to a new report from Kalorama Information.

As hospitals and healthcare providers scramble to implement new technologies which can markedly cut costs and improve care, innovation in the healthcare IT industry—especially in the creation of clinical information systems that have the ability for information to flow among settings of care—is driving dramatic changes in the way healthcare is administered in this country.

Between 10% and 15% of hospitals in the U. S. already have some form of a simple clinical IT system, such as a CPOE (computerized physician order entry) record systems, according to The U. S. Market for Clinical Information Systems. However, this new report predicts that even if only 15% to 20% of hospitals move toward adopting complete, “interoperable” data management systems, a multi-billion dollar market opportunity for the IT industry would be created.

“While IT has been successfully implemented and widely used on the administration side of hospitals for years, and has gained traction in the R&D side of medical science, adoption by actual clinical providers has been slow,” notes Steven Heffner, the Publisher of Kalorama Information. “However, the promise of improved patient care with fewer mistakes and greater efficiencies and cost savings is too big to ignore. In this environment, we should see the use of clinical information systems—particularly EMRs—really take off.”

The U. S. Market for Clinical Information Systems, an in-depth analysis of the current and potential U. S. market for care-related clinical information systems, can be purchased directly from Kalorama Information by clicking http://www. kaloramainformation. com/pub/1099947.html (http://www. kaloramainformation. com/pub/1099947.html). New Services “Cosmetic Surgery for Men” Offered at Bangkok Plastic Surgery Clinic

New Services “Cosmetic Surgery for Men” Offered at Bangkok Plastic Surgery Clinic

Bangkok Plastic Surgery Clinic recently started targeting a new emerging group of customers –- the male population

Bangkok (PRWEB) August 9, 2007

Bangkok Plastic Surgery Clinic recently started targeting a new emerging group of customers -– the male population

Nowadays, more and more men are turning to cosmetic surgery for a variety of reasons. This reflects an increase in the awareness of appearance as well as health issues. Beauty was once considered to be women’s matter, but times have changed, and the male population of this twenty first century is now paying way more attention to their looks and health than ever before.

Health issue aside, the competitiveness in this fast-evolving world is another stimulus that gets the big boys all concerned about how they are perceived. It is important, to many professions, to remain youthful and to look presentable. This is why you can see shelves of “for men” facial care products when you stroll along the aisle in the supermarket. Spas also start offering “for men” treatments for discerning modern men.

It is reported that in the United States, 24 per cent of today’s nose jobs are carried out on men. Statistics available from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that the top five men's cosmetic surgery procedures are nose reshaping, hair transplantation, eyelid surgery, liposuction and breast reductions. Top five non-surgical procedures for men are Botox injections, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, chemical peel and collagen injections.

Bangkok Plastic Surgery Clinic spots the changing trend and knows that more and more men decide to go under the knife to improve their looks. It now offers many services that can help gentlemen look and feel better about themselves when they look into the mirror.

Cosmetic surgery in men uses many of the same procedures as in women. However, because of the physical structure of a man, there are many technical differences. For example, the skin in men is thicker and in the facial area contains hair. This means the blood supply is greater. The result is a greater risk of bleeding but good healing. A private, confidential consultation is the first step to helping you decide what procedure may be best for your personal goals.

About Bangkok Plastic Surgery Clinic
Bangkok Plastic Surgery Clinic is the leading center of plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery. It offers a wide variety of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic procedures as well as plastic reconstructive consulting.

Now in its 12th year, the goal of the Web Health Awards (formerly the World Wide Web Health Awards), is to recognize high-quality electronic health information. The awards program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Bill Keller of liveprayer. com has issued a call to fast and repentence for 40 days.

(PRWEB) March 20, 2004

Bill Keller, founder of Liveprayer, has called for a 40-day period of prayer and fasting for the United States from May 1st-June 9th. In just over 54 months, www. Liveprayer. com has become the world's largest interactive Christian website, ministering to over 2 million people worldwide every day through its "live video" Internet site and the Daily Devotional Keller writes 7 days a week for an opt-in subscriber base of just over 1.9 million people worldwide. Keller is also the host of "Liveprayer," a "live" call-in prayer program every Monday thru Friday from 1 a. m-2 a. m. on the UPN affiliate in Tampa, Florida.

Keller shared a prophecy last week with his subscribers that President George Bush would NOT be re-elected in November due to his failure to take a strong leadership role in many key issues that are affecting the spiritual health of the United States. It is Keller's feeling that only by the people of the United States asking forgiveness from the God of the Bible for their gross sins and turning their hearts back to the God of the Bible (much like the people of Nineveh did in the Book of Jonah Chapter 3), will God hold back His pending judgment on the United States.

Keller has asked publicly and privately for President Bush to issue a proclamation to the nation calling all citizens to observe this time of prayer and fasting and turn their hearts back to the God of the Bible, despite what the personal consequences to himself may be, much like the proclamation made by the King of Nineveh in the Book of Jonah Chapter 3. Keller stated, "I do not question President Bush's relationship with Christ, but there are times every Believer has to take a stand for the Lord, and this is his opportunity."

Describing the Latest Concepts of Development of Personalized Medicine Based on Pharmacogenomics, Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacoproteomics

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c9698) has announced the addition of Personalized Medicine - Scientific and Commercial Aspects to their offering.

(PRWEB) April 13, 2006

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c9698 (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c9698)) has announced the addition of Personalized Medicine - Scientific and Commercial Aspects to their offering.

The aim of personalized medicine or individualized treatment is to match the right drug to the right patient and, in some cases, even to design the appropriate treatment for a patient according to his/her genotype. This report describes the latest concepts of development of personalized medicine based on pharmacogenomics, pharmacogenetics and pharmacoproteomics. Basic technologies of molecular diagnostics play an important role, particularly those for single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping. Diagnosis is integrated with therapy for selection of the treatment as well for monitoring the results. Biochip/microarray technologies are also important and finally bioinformatics is needed to analyze the immense amount of data generated by various technologies.

Pharmacogenetics, the study of influence of genetic factors on drug action and metabolism, is used for predicting adverse reactions of drugs. Several enzymes are involved in drug metabolism of which the most important ones are those belonging to the family of cytochrome P450. The knowledge of the effects of polymorphisms of genes for the enzymes is applied in drug discovery and development as well as in clinical use of drugs. Cost-effective methods for genotyping are being developed and it would be desirable to include this information in the patient's record for the guidance of the physician to individualize the treatment. Pharmacogenomics, a term that overlaps with pharmacogenetics but is distinct, deals with the application of genomics to drug discovery and development. It involves the mechanism of action of drugs on cells as revealed by gene expression patterns. Pharmacoproteomics is an important contribution to personalized medicine as it is a more functional representation of patient-to-patient variation than that provided by genotyping

Biological therapies such as those which use patient's own cells are considered to be personalized medicines. Vaccines are prepared from individual patient's tumor cells. Individualized therapeutic strategies using monoclonal bodies can be directed at specific genetic and immunologic targets. Ex vivo gene therapy involves the genetic modification of the patient's cells in vitro, prior to reimplantation of these cells in the patient's body.

Various technologies are integrated to develop personalized therapies for specific therapeutic areas described in the report. Examples of this are genotyping for drug resistance in HIV infection, personalized therapy of cancer, antipsychotics for schizophrenia, antidepressant therapy, antihypertensive therapy and personalized approach to neurological disorders. Although genotyping is not yet a part of clinically accepted routine, it is expected to have this status by the year 2010.

Several players are involved in the development of personalized therapy. Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies have taken a leading role in this venture in keeping with their future role as healthcare enterprises rather than mere developers of technologies and manufacturers of medicines.

Increase in efficacy and safety of treatment by individualizing it has benefits in financial terms. Information is presented to show that personalized medicine will be cost-effective in healthcare systems. For the pharmaceutical companies, segmentation of the market may not leave room for conventional blockbusters but smaller and exclusive markets for personalized medicines would be profitable. Marketing opportunities for such a system are described.

Profiles of 137 companies involved in developing technologies for personalized medicines, along with 262 collaborations are included in the report. Finally the bibliography contains over 250 selected publications cited in the report. The report is supplemented by 44 tables and 11 figures.

Sisters of Mercy Health System Selects Corticon as Business Rules Engine Standard

Sisters of Mercy Health System Selects Corticon as Business Rules Engine Standard

Corticon Business Rules Management Systems, will be used to reduce the time-to-market of chornic disease management initiatives.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) November 2, 2010

Sisters of Mercy Health System (http://www. mercy. net), a leading integrated healthcare provider, has selected Corticon Technologies to provide their enterprise standard business rules engine. Corticon, the leader in model-driven Business Rules Management Systems, will be used by Mercy to reduce the time-to-market of chronic disease management initiatives and improve the quality and efficiency of their customer servicing operations.

Mercy is a Non-Profit network of 26 hospitals and other ambulatory facilities with over 36,000 employees geographically located in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. The hospital network aims to provide the best possible care and outcomes at the lowest possible cost, which ultimately enables them to deliver more to their community. Mercy recognized that a business rules platform could help to achieve this goal by reducing development cost while increasing quality, moving traditional “development activity” from IT to the business (rules specification), and in the end, automating redundant activities and assuring that best practices are consistently followed.

Mercy identified the need for a business rules management system (BRMS) after several business process management (BPM) initiatives. BPM or “workflow” software is used to improve the efficiency of business processes by automatically routing work between people and systems. BPM software provides visibility into the overall business process, and where a work item sits in the process. BPM software excels in moving work through the process; however, it not a replacement for human decision-making. By contrast, Corticon is specifically designed to handle the automation of decision-making logic. According to John Conroy, Executive Director, the fit was obvious. “If there are more than two consecutive decision points in a process design, we successfully use Corticon to provide the rules to determine process flow. We try to keep our process diagrams simple, and use Corticon to manage the more complex and volatile conditional logic.”

Mercy Health Plans (MHP), the for-profit health plan of Mercy Health System, first piloted Corticon as part of a claims exception handling process. Like many leading healthcare companies, Mercy’s goal is to resolve all claims as quickly as possible. While the goal is to auto-adjudicate claims for straight-through–processing and payment, the reality is exceptions occur requiring manual review. The claim queue had grown faster than their people could efficiently handle; consequently, over 35,000 claims piled up in backlog. Claims exceptions are a sensitive and costly problem for healthcare providers; they result in time-intensive manual processing, impact customer satisfaction due to delays in closing, and result in a major expense. What type of major expense? Interest accrues and is due the provider for unpaid amounts outside of the contract window! This can amount to tens of thousands of dollars per month..

Mercy chose to build their pilot exception handling solution using Corticon and their BPM tool. In the new solution Corticon is used to evaluate the claim and determine the appropriate exception handling process. According to Mr. Conroy, it did not take long to prove Corticon’s unique benefits. “Within four hours, we had developed and deployed our first Corticon decision service (i. e. business rules), and were able to call it as a web service. We estimate we’ll see a 25% reduction in interest payments… very impressive.”

Mercy plans to expand Corticon to improve service center operations. This deployment will leverage Corticon to assist service center agents when diagnosing issues. With Corticon, Mercy anticipates reducing average call time by 50% (from 10 to 5 minutes per call) by guiding the call center agents to ask the appropriate questions in the right order. In addition, Mercy will use Corticon to more efficiently handle level 2 support problems that cannot be solved with the first customer service agent. Corticon will automatically evaluate these more complex cases and quickly assign them to the appropriate available level 2 agent. Mr. Conroy expects to reduce the manual effort by 67% and repurpose staff for more valuable production efforts. Mercy Health knows that addressing problems faster and more accurately improves customer satisfaction, significantly reduces costs, and allows their employees to focus more on relationships, not data analysis.

“Corticon is pleased to partner with Mercy Health System to provide more efficient operations and responsive customer service”, said Dr. Mark Allen, CEO of Corticon. “Health care providers like Mercy provide a most critical service to our communities; we welcome the opportunity to help their cause.”

Based on the successful proof-of-concept, Mercy selected Corticon for a number of reasons, including:
Ease-of-Use: Mercy wanted their non-IT business analysts to manage the business rules, and identified Corticon’s unique ability to empower analysts to manage even the most complex business rules with relative ease. This both accelerates development and improves business transparency and control.  Seamless SOA Integration: Mercy required a rules engine that can integrate with existing systems and work with the latest tools and technologies. Corticon offered simple, standards-based integration into both legacy environments and modern service-oriented architectures (SOA).  Accelerated Data Integration: Many of Mercy’s business rules require the evaluation of data resident in relational databases. Corticon’s Enterprise Data Connector (EDC) enabled Mercy to integrate with the data source directly from the Corticon rules engine, rather than integrating through the BPM layer. Mercy estimates that Corticon EDC saves 90% of the development time spent on data integration.

About Business Rules Platforms
Also known as business rules engines (BRE) or business rules management systems (BRMS,) these platforms are an advanced technology used to deliver more agile IT systems. Business rules platforms enable the business logic of software applications to be externalized from programming code and managed by subject matter experts. Business rules platforms provide a number of key advantages such as accelerated application development and maintenance, increased transparency of functionality and control, improved audit-ability and rapid changes in business logic without affecting the systems’ code for core functionality. In addition, they enable the automation of sophisticated operational decisions that are too complex and volatile to automate via traditional programming techniques.

About Sisters of Mercy Health System
The Sisters of Mercy Health System (Mercy) was established in 1986 to serve as the parent corporation of a variety of health care facilities and services sponsored by Mercy Health Ministry, an entity established by the Catholic Church to oversee the healing ministry and Catholic identity of Mercy.. Mercy consists of 26 acute care hospitals, two heart hospitals, outpatient care facilities, physician practices, skilled nursing and long-term residential care facilities, clinics, a managed care organization and other health-related services. Mercy operates facilities and services in a seven-state area encompassing Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. Mercy is the 9th largest Catholic healthcare system in the U. S., based on net patient service revenue.

Mypressi™ TWIST™ and red espresso® Rooibos Tea Espresso Introduce a Healthy, “Handy” Espresso

Mypressi™ TWIST™ and red espresso® Rooibos Tea Espresso Introduce a Healthy, “Handy” Espresso

Two award-winning innovations in espresso have created a shift in status quo for coffee and tea with the convenient, handheld delivery of a naturally caffeine-free espresso made entirely from Rooibos tea - enjoyable anytime and anywhere you want it, from the boardroom to the beach.

Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) April 16, 2010

A South African olive farmer in Cape Town and an Australian entrepreneur honeymooning in Bora Bora may not seem to have much in common, other than that they are both ardent espresso lovers. One is looking to curb his coffee addition and wants a healthy espresso that’s naturally caffeine-free; while the other dreams of an easily-accessible, quality espresso machine that is operable even in remote destinations such as Bora Bora… Add sheer determination, some lateral creativity and a passion for pursuing the seemingly impossible and this is what you get: two revolutionary products – a naturally caffeine-free, healthy espresso made entirely from Rooibos tea, and a lightweight, handheld espresso maker designed to produce amazing espresso. Both are Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) Best New Product Award winners and both have put an irrevocable, fundamental spin on the global espresso experience. As it turns out, they also work so well together they have now entered a global partnership.

Espresso Anytime, Anyplace

Created by Espressi, Inc., the mypressi™ TWIST™ is one of the world’s finest espresso makers, with a convenient handheld design. The first in a line of products born from a passion for espresso, the multi award-winning TWIST is stylish, lightweight and effortlessly easy to use. The TWIST uses a revolutionary, patent-pending pneumatic engine to provide perfect espresso time after time. It is petite enough to fit into a small kitchen or desk drawer and requires no external power source. It is the ideal companion for the creation of exceptional espresso or espresso-based drinks, and has received the highest accolades from Barista Champions, roasters, World Barista Championship judges and the media for its shot quality, breakthrough technology and ease of use. In 2009 the mypressi TWIST became the first portable espresso maker to win the SCAA’s prestigious Best New Consumer Product award. It was also voted Product of the Year by Sprudge. com, and CoffeeTalk Magazine awarded it Best of Show for CoffeeFest Seattle.

The mypressi TWIST makes it easy to pull an incredible espresso with its standard 53mm basket; it also includes a pressurized basket that makes a perfect shot of red espresso® with just the right amount of deliciously smooth crema, body and an ideal flavor. With exceptional repeatability, easy clean-up and a very affordable price, the TWIST is the ideal delivery companion for red espresso® in the home or office, or as a dedicated secondary machine in busy cafes and restaurants.

Tea with a Twist

A South African innovation and the first of its kind worldwide, red espresso® puts the ultimate twist on tea by turning it into something no-one thought possible: espresso! Born out of the need for a delicious, naturally caffeine-free alternative that does not compromise on the ritual, style and enjoyment of the espresso experience, as well as the desire for a beverage that delivers on authentic espresso characteristics that tea does not have – such as intensity of flavour, body and crema – red espresso® is the pioneer of a new beverage category: tea espresso.

Made from the highest quality, caffeine-free Rooibos tea - sourced at highest altitude and hand-harvested from a single estate, red espresso® is produced to a globally patented cut for use in coffee and espresso makers, including the mypressi TWIST. Expressed, it delivers a strong, rich-tasting, dark red shot of Rooibos tea – with saffron crema – that has a slightly sweet, earthy, full-bodied taste. Naturally caffeine-free, one shot of red espresso® has five times more antioxidants than green tea (per ORAC ) and, like coffee, is used to make a range of hot and cold espresso-based beverages – opening up the world of delicious, healthy, caffeine-free red cappuccinos, red lattes, iced teas and more to people who are seeking to avoid caffeine; tea drinkers; as well as people who are interested in looking after their health.

Fusing – for the first time - the global trends of health and café culture in a great-tasting, genuine innovation, red espresso® has been honoured with a number of international awards, including making history as the first tea to win the prestigious SCAA Best New Product – Specialty Beverage Award at the world’s largest coffee show; as well as earning the World Tea Expo’s Top 10 New Product in 2008; the IUFoST (International Union of Food Science and Technology) Global Food Industry Award for Product Innovation 2008, and the Sunday Times Marketing Excellence Award 2009. From its humble kitchen counter beginnings, red espresso® is now being exported to over 15 countries around the world. It is run by a small, passionate team of friends and family in Cape Town, South Africa.

An Award-winning Combination

Together, the mypressi TWIST and red espresso® represent an award-winning combination of cutting-edge innovation, melding the global trends of convenience and good health. Offering an exceptional espresso experience for people looking to avoid caffeine, the combination opens up the possibility, portability and sheer enjoyment of deliciously healthy, caffeine-free espresso-based drinks to tea lovers, pregnant women, athletes and even kids. Pairing the TWIST with red espresso® provides an accessible and affordable way to enjoy delectable beverages anytime, anyplace; in revolutionary espresso style.

All natural and mold-inhibiting clay plasters from award-winning American Clay, Inc., are used on the majority of the interior walls in the third house of the VISION Series produced by Green Builder Media. Entitled the Green Builder® VISION Series House-Orlando '08, the high-end, architect-designed custom home is built to demonstrate that building 'green' can be glamorous and sustainable by considering durability and life safety in an active hurricane zone such as Orlando, Florida. American Clay has been available in Florida, but in a limited fashion, and this use marks a decided focus on their expansion into a market that will directly benefit from the mold-inhibiting trait of clay plaster.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) February 7, 2008

American Clay can also provide up to seven LEED credits for projects.

The 2008 Green Builder® VISION House is one of a group of homes built as learning platforms to demonstrate the NAHB's Model Green Building Guidelines. One of the guidelines' eight guiding principles is Indoor Environmental Living Quality. Says Rhys Stucker, Director of the Series, "We use American Clay extensively in our projects because, as a zero-VOC product that happens also to provide a beautiful wall finish, it perfectly exhibits how positive indoor air quality and good design go together. American Clay plasters are key to making this a healthy, as well as natural, home; and they offer many finish choices and flexibility." The house will be open to NAHB members and International Builders Show attendees Feb. 13 -16; to the public Feb. 16-17 and 23-24. (www. greenbuildervisionhouse. com).

American Clay is used on the walls of the master bedroom, as well as most of the main floor, including the living and breakfast rooms, the den and part of the dining room. Plaster style and color selections were made by longtime 'eco' designer Bernadette Upton of EcoDecor. The 2008 VISION House also provided American Clay with a real world test application of their new exterior stucco product to be released in the near future.

"We are excited to participate in a high profile project in such a challenging environment," states American Clay founder and CEO Croft Elsaesser. "This allows us to showcase the benefits of using clay in modern construction. It will be a true asset to the project and provide a basis of benefit throughout Florida." American Clay is displayed by Real Finishes at the Arch showroom in the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA), and is being used in projects in Tampa, Vero Beach and Boca Raton.

American Clay Earth Plasters focus on the inherent qualities of clay--longevity, temperature moderating, dirt repelling, humidity controlling, sound attenuating, flexibility, reparability containing
Zero VOCs and, of course, mold inhibiting. Their mold test results - announced in February 2007 - showed that their base formulation combined with their Mud Glue™ exhibited no signs of mold growth. The tests - ASTM 3273-00 and ASTM G21-96 -- were conducted by an independent lab that utilizes ASTM standards, one of the most universally-accepted testing parameters.

American Clay's mission is to better the planet, through their commitment to healthy solutions for beautiful, calm, and healthy environments. To that end:
Their products qualify for up to 7 LEED credits on LEED certification projects Their manufacturing uses low inherent energy to produce their products. i. e. 250 tons of material costs $45 in electricity. They use no water in manufacturing. Plaster is shipped dry to save shipping energy and cost. (Additional 20 pounds of water if sent premixed.)

TM4B Introduces SMPP Interface

TM4B Introduces SMPP Interface

TM4B has announced its implementation of the SMPP protocol.

(PRWEB) May 2, 2007

The TM4B SMS Gateway has, today, announced the launch of its SMPP Interface (http://www. tm4b. com/smpp. php (http://www. tm4b. com/smpp. php)) in Client-Gateway communications.

SMPP (Short Message Peer to Peer Protocol) is a telecommunications protocol which lets applications send/receive SMS through interaction with an SMSC (Short Message Service Centre) and whilst there are numerous other protocols which have the same intent, SMPP has the greatest market share and is widely regarded as an industry de-facto standard.

Commenting on this development, TM4B's Managing Director Fahed Bizzari said, "This really is a great step forward for us. By providing the option to connect via SMPP, we can now satisfy the needs of the larger corporate clients and software vendors which we've had to turn down in the past."

"On account of its ongoing popularity, we were certain that our industry-leading HTTP API could accommodate information systems of all sizes, but over time we came to realise that many organisations had already mobilised their applications using the SMPP protocol and we were losing out on their custom."

"Through our new SMPP interface, we no longer have to turn down the types of high profile customers that would (otherwise) be partnering with us."

TM4B's support for SMPP is taking place through its partnership with a UK company, called Selenium Software, through the use of their product 'Selenium SMPP Access'.

According to Abu Aaminah, TM4B's Chief Technical Engineer, TM4B could have developed the SMPP Interface in-house, but felt "very confident in using Selenium Software's products."

In Abu Aaminah's words, "Selenium Software has a very strong background in SMPP - they developed the SMPPSim SMSC simulator which has been used by company's like Nokia, Ericsson and British Telecom to name but a few."

As part of the his final comments on their decision to out-source the SMPP interface, Fahed also said, "I believe that the time-to-market benefit which Selenium Software has brought us is tremendous. I am very happy at the speed and efficiency that Selenium Software has brought us and look forward to adding even bigger names to our client base."

LifeCare(R) Becomes Business Champion for Workplace Flexibility

LifeCare(R) Becomes Business Champion for Workplace Flexibility

This release shares details about LifeCare becoming a "Business Champion" for workplace flexibility by joining a national campaign to create broader awareness of the positive business and employee benefits of workplace flexibility.

Shelton, CT (PRWEB) July 29, 2010

LifeCare®, Inc., a leading provider of health and productivity solutions (http://www. lifecare. com/services/total_health/index. html) for employers nationwide, announced that it will join Corporate Voices for Working Families in a national campaign to engage the business community and create a broader awareness of the positive business and employee benefits of workplace flexibility. The campaign was launched at the White House at the first-ever Forum on Workplace Flexibility in March, and it will encourage businesses to become "Business Champions" for flexibility by signing a Statement of Support for Expanding Workplace Flexibility.

"We are distinctly proud to be part of a community that supports and cares for the American workforce," explains LifeCare CEO, Peter G. Burki. "As a company that has been dedicated to helping individuals and their loved ones achieve better health, wellness and life balance for more than two decades, it is extremely gratifying to see workplace flexibility and work/life balance make continued strides toward receiving the level of attention and support it deserves."

The increasing numbers of people working and going to school, caring for children or the elderly, or working two jobs to make ends meet have created the need for a fundamental shift in workplace culture so that people can meet the needs of both their employers and their families. Flexible workplace policies make this possible -- from compressed work-weeks and job-sharing to telecommuting and working from satellite locations -- flexibility policies enable workers to better balance work and life. In so doing, they lead to increased employee commitment and engagement, and ultimately, business productivity and profitability.

"Businesses that are thinking about the future and want to be globally competitive are embracing workplace flexibility as a core leadership tool that enables people to meet work and personal responsibilities. All the business champions in the campaign believe that flexibility benefits workers at every level -- from hourly to professional staff," said Donna Klein, executive chair and founder of Corporate Voices for Working Families.

As a Business Champion, LifeCare recognizes that flexibility policies are valuable talent management and recruiting tools that help meet the business bottom line. Business Champions commit to actively communicate the business imperative for workplace flexibility within their own organizations and to their peers and colleagues. LifeCare joins a host of leading best-practice corporate champions that recognize that workplace flexibility improves business profitability, the lives of working families, and America's economic competitiveness.

Advancement In Drug Delivery Technologies Push Cancer Care Delivery Market to $6.8 Billion by 2012

Advancement In Drug Delivery Technologies Push Cancer Care Delivery Market to $6.8 Billion by 2012

Advancement in drug delivery technologies push cancer care delivery market to $6.8 billion by 2012.

(PRWEB) August 2, 2007

Piribo, the online destination for business intelligence for the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, has now added a new report on the latest developments in cancer drug development and analyzes the most promising solutions that drug delivery companies are providing.

"Drug Delivery Technology: Revolutionizing Cancer Therapies" finds that pipeline products that will crossover from clinical trials and second generation drug delivery chemotherapy agents will help boost the market. There are presently 650 products in clinical development including chemotherapy agents, anti-hormonals, novel targeted therapies, vaccines and gene-based therapies. The report assesses the options available to deliver anti-cancer compounds both now and in the future.

Cancer remains one of the most widespread diseases worldwide. It was the leading cause of death in the U. S. In 2000, 10 million people were diagnosed with cancer globally, and in 10 years time that figure is set to rise to 15 million. The oncology market, estimated at U. S $33 billion in 2006, is predicted to grow by 12% every year.

Present day cancer therapies like chemotherapy and radiation prolong life spans, but tend to target both tumour cells as well as healthy ones. Cancer therapy would greatly benefit from more efficient drug delivery systems, which avoid systemic toxicity and resistance and improve specificity. In order to meet these challenges, there have been significant developments in drug delivery technologies which are now employing a multidisciplinary approach, including passive and targeted systems.

Drug delivery mechanisms are trying to ensure that anti-cancer chemicals are either bound, encapsulated or shielded in to prevent them from being broken down by enzymes while being transported to the tumour cells. They may also be chemically bound and made inactive before they reach their target cells so that they do not affect surrounding healthy cells.

Authors of the report say that companies are also employing the use of chemical - 'homing in' compounds such as tumour-specific antigens or receptors to specifically target cancer cells in their passive delivery platforms.

In the present cancer care delivery market, oral agents are not key drivers. Authors of the report believe however, that as cancers are identified earlier and there is a move towards chronic treatment, there will be a greater emphasis on the development of oral agents especially in scenarios where pre-surgery and post-surgery treatments become necessary.

The study analyzes the market trend up to 2005, and forecasts market growth based on the technology platforms up to both 2012 and 2020. The success of several revamped products that will hit the market in six years are studied and cases provided to highlight the changes in each technology. The report outlines the alliances that have been made between key pharma and drug delivery companies and also points out where progress has been made in the delivery of new oncology products.

"Drug Delivery Technology: Revolutionizing Cancer Therapies" is available in pdf format from Piribo. Yogurt is a $2.8 Billion Market that Experienced 7.8% Growth in 2003, Indicating That This is a Category that Still has Room to Grow

Research and Markets (researchandmarkets. com/reports/c24804) has announced the addition of Yogurts in the United States to their offering.

Dublin (PRWEB) September 28, 2005

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c24804 (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c24804)) has announced the addition of Yogurts in the United States to their offering.

Yogurt is a $2.8 billion market that experienced 7.8% growth in 2003, indicating that this is a category that still has room to grow. While yogurt itself as a product has been on the shelves for many years, it was only in the past few years that manufacturers began making a concerted effort to directly target certain groups of consumers, beginning with children and their need for healthy, portable snacks. From 2001 to the present, yogurt has also evolved into a meal or snack for adults that is not necessarily relegated to “diet food” status, and is being positioned instead for its significant health benefits.

While the low carb craze has the potential of having an adverse impact on yogurt sales, manufacturers are combating this by developing low carb offerings, though continuing to maintain their usual roster of products. In addition, because the carbs in yogurt are naturally occurring due to lactose milk sugars, these carbs are considered by many to not have the same kind of negative impact as complex carbohydrates from pasta and bread, for example (the “good carb/bad carb” debate).

Overall, the market for yogurt is expected to continue growing, particularly as manufacturers expand beyond their typical target market and look for niches within those segments, for instance, catering to women with particular supplement needs or the elderly. New products, flavors, and formulations will lead the charge for growth in the yogurt market.

This report on the yogurt market covers trends, market drivers, the supply structure, and distribution, as well as providing a detailed breakdown of consumer habits. A five-year market forecast helps you plan for the future of the yogurt market.

Complete Medical Billing Informs Clients of Stimulus Package

Complete Medical Billing Informs Clients of Stimulus Package

Government Stimulus For Qualifying Physicians Used to Stimulate the Utilization of Electronic Medical Records

Phoenix, Az (PRWEB) October 8, 2009

Complete Medical Billing, discount provider of leading medical billing software such as Medisoft (http://www. completemedicalbilling. com/site/products/ndcMedisoft. aspx) and Lytec (http://www. completemedicalbilling. com/site/products/ndcLytec. aspx), has created a web page for the sole purpose of informing current and potential clients about the government stimulus package that will take effect January of 2011. The stimulus package was designed to serve as an incentive for those qualifying doctors and their place of business to employ medical software with the intent of reducing healthcare costs.

It is believed that by accelerating the use of IT to improve quality, safety, and efficiency healthcare costs can be lowered and therefore more widely available. Ultimately, patients and caregivers will benefit from the automation and connectivity enabled by electronic medical records (EHRs) because more affordable healthcare translates into more patients.

The web page Complete Medical Billing has dedicated to this important issue regarding medical billing software (http://www. completemedicalbilling. com/emr/stimulus. aspx) gives informative notes on criteria, time frame, and amounts regarding the funds that will be distributed. Three qualifications listed are:

1.) Demonstrating 'meaningful use' - required product capabilities are likely to be electronic prescribing, clinical reporting, and interoperability.
2.) Use a certified EMR - Many industry experts believe that certification will be based on the standards adopted by the Certification Committee for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT).
3.) Must be a qualified provider - Office-based physicians must qualify under either the Medicare or Medicaid provision - they can not collect incentive payments from both.

At the bottom of the web page is a link to another document that gives a more detailed outline of frequently asked questions. Among these are the maximum amounts that will be distributed, what penalties will take place, and a more comprehensive list of who qualifies.

Complete Medical Billing provides individual and bundled medical billing software programs that serve the managerial responsibilities in any medical practice. With a wide variety of programs available and the necessary training and technical support offered, no task is left undone saving time and money for both patient and staff. For more information, please contact Lance Foster at 888-777-9949.
