Summit Medical Group Supports National Medical Assistant Week, October 18-22

Summit Medical Group Supports National Medical Assistant Week, October 18-22

Summit Medical Group supports, celebrates, and recognizes the significant impact medical assistants (MAs) have on patients and in health care overall

Berkeley Heights, NJ (Vocus) October 17, 2010

During Medical Assistants Recognition Week, October 18-22, 2010, and throughout the year, Summit Medical Group supports, celebrates, and recognizes the significant impact medical assistants (MAs) have on patients and in health care overall. Medical assistants across the country will be recognized during this special week.

Medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures. With their unique versatility, medical assistants are proving to be the allied health professional of choice for this decade and beyond. Physicians value this unique versatility more and more, as managed care compels them to contain costs and manage human resources efficiently. Not surprisingly, the demand for medical assistants is expanding rapidly. In fact, according to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be projected as one of the fastest growing occupations.

MAs are certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certifying Board that awards the prestigious CMA (AAMA) credential to graduates of CAAHEP - or ABHES-accredited medical assisting programs who have successfully completed the CMA (AAMA) Certification Examination. The examination is administered by the highly respected National Board of Medical Examiners.

Australia Souvenir Gift Shop Donates 10% Of Profits To Help Aboriginal Children

Australia Souvenir Gift Shop Donates 10% Of Profits To Help Aboriginal Children

Funds raised will benefit Aboriginal Children's Advancement Society

Sydney, New South Wales (PRWEB) March 17, 2010

Australia Souvenir Gift Shop (http://www. australiasouvenir. com (http://www. australiasouvenir. com)) will donate ten percent of its profits from selling Australian souvenirs online to the ACAS (Aboriginal Children's Advancement Society), a New South Wales organization that assists Aboriginal children with health, housing and educational needs.

Australia Souvenir Gift Shop (http://www. australiasouvenir. com) specializes in selling unique Australian gifts (http://www. australiasouvenir. com) as travel mementos and treasures for sharing the Aussie experience with people from all over the globe who aren’t able to physically make the trip in person. It specializes in featuring hand-crafted native artwork made by the indigenous aboriginal peoples (http://www. australiasouvenir. com/pages/Learn-About-Australia-Aboriginal-People. html) of Australia.

“With our donation to the ACAS, we hope to raise awareness about Aboriginal traditions and needs, as well as raise funds that will help the Aboriginal children of the future with education,” says James, Account Manager in charge of Australian souvenirs (http://www. australiasouvenir. com).

The owners are committed to sharing Australia’s unique cultural and ecological heritage with the rest of the world. Many animal species, like the kangaroo and the koala, are native only to Australia. For those who can travel, a trip to the ‘land down under’ to enjoy the rich culture and diverse environment is an enlightening experience.

But since not everyone can visit Australia, gift items that represent the bounty of aboriginal craftsmanship can bring a little bit of Australia into people’s homes, no matter where they are. The owners strive to make their website accessible and user friendly so that each visitor has a positive experience and can learn more about Australia (http://www. australiasouvenir. com/pages/All-about-Australia. html) during their online visit.

“Aborigine artisans design and create their handicrafts with skill, precision and dedication. We like the idea of honoring their tradition by donating a percentage of our profits to support them. It’s a simple and effective way to help Aborigine children have a safe and healthy place to stay while attending school,” James said.

Australia Souvenir Gift Shop is supporting the Aboriginal Children's Advancement Society because Aboriginal teenagers transitioning into cities were facing health and welfare problems due to isolation and neglect. In 1963, the ACAS was founded to address those needs and has been successfully working to help children further their education.

Australia Souvenir Gift Shop is a website created to help people share their love of Australia with families and friends. For more information about Australian gifts, visit http://www. australiasouvenir. com (http://www. australiasouvenir. com), or contact James at 1800 004 372 (International Number: +614 0101 8464) or mail(at)australiasouvenir(dot)com.

Your Own Sales Lead Generation Website

Your Own Sales Lead Generation Website

It took an Insurance Agent from Texas to put it all together....Everything you need to know to build a working sales lead generation website.

(PRWEB) July 17, 2003

Andy Jones, an Insurance agent from Dallas, TX has explained everything you need to know to start your own sales lead generation website.

An excerpt from his e-book:

"How were you taught to generate sales leads? I bet I can guess because the process has been the same for the past quarter century. Print ads, radio and TV ads, flyers, trade shows, referrals and networking groups – does that about cover it? At one point, I was advertising in 25 small town newspapers and I was happy to get 2 leads total per month for my Life and Health Insurance business. I was distributing 500 flyers per week and was happy to get 4 phone calls. I was spending the equivalent of 2 days every month at Chamber of Commerce and other networking meetings. Does this sound familiar? I sat down one day and took an inventory of the time and money I was investing versus the actual sales and I was shocked! Could it be possible I was spending $500 to generate 25 leads? It was. Was it true that I averaged 8 days per month meeting, standing around at trade shows and pounding the street handing out flyers? No wonder I was exhausted

There had to be a better way. The first thing I did was ask everyone I met with for the next 30 days how they looked for the services I was attempting to sell. The Internet was always one or two on their list as was advice from family and co-workers. I made up my mind right then and there to concentrate on Internet sales lead generation."

GreenandMore. com Announces Guide to Help the Planet for Earth Day and Save Money: How to Lower Energy Bills

GreenandMore. com Announces Guide to Help the Planet for Earth Day and Save Money: How to Lower Energy Bills

GreenandMore. com announces their latest guide to help the planet for Earth Day on April 22 and save money: reduce energy usage at home.

Waltham, MA (PRWEB) April 14, 2008

GreenandMore. com recently published their guide to help consumers save money by reducing their home energy usage just in time for Earth Day, which falls on April 22, 2008 this year.

Using less energy means the planet will benefit, because about 17 percent of U. S. greenhouse gas emissions are generated from the energy used in houses nationwide (energystar. gov).

President and CEO of GreenandMore. com, Mercia Tapping, isn't a stranger to energy efficiency. In 1973, she co-founded the Energy Efficiency Corporation whose mission was to create energy efficiencies by consulting to large corporations. Tapping has recently posted her personal story about lowering her own home energy bill by 50% at the company's blog, www. GreenMusings. com.

"With the economy on everyone's mind, there's no better time than to look at Earth Day as an opportunity to spread the message that everyone can reduce energy usage at home or work with a few simple changes. We've created a guide called 'How to Lower Your Energy Bills' to help everyone understand devices and products available to reduce energy usage, and the potential energy that can be saved by each household or business." says Tapping.

The guide includes products that rely on solar cells, electrical sensors, and other new technologies to accomplish goals most people have each day: turning off appliances that aren't being used, cooling the home, reducing energy loss through the attic, lighting the front and backyard, and charging mp3s and cell phones.

Read the entire guide here: http://www. greenandmore. com/how-to-lower-your-energy-bills. html (http://www. greenandmore. com/how-to-lower-your-energy-bills. html)

Excerpted from the How to Lower Your Energy Bills guide:

1. Kill A Watt Electricity Monitor - Energy Watt Meter
Monitor Energy Usage at the Outlet

The only way to be sure of the power draw of appliances and electronic devices and peripherals is to test them at the outlet. Once someone knows how much energy is being used when devices are on, or idle, it will be revealed how much energy and money can be saved on an electric bill by replacing, unplugging or using a smart power strip to cut off any power to that appliance. One could learn that a computer is actually drawing 30-70 watts when idle or on standby per hour. Then the energy abusing products can be changed or booted from the home, resulting in less wasted energy and a lower utility bill.

2. Energy Efficient Compact Fluorescent & Full Spectrum Light Bulbs
Change to light bulbs that use less energy

For every one standard incandescent light bulb replaced with an energy star qualified compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), it would save about $30 or more in electricity costs over each bulb's lifetime (source: energystar. gov). And, they use 75% less energy than regular bulbs, reducing energy consumption and lowering your bills. For only 13 Watts of energy usage, a bulb can product the light equivalent of a 60 Watt incandescent bulb. And they have a long life span of up to 10,000 hours, which saves money on replacement bulbs and save the earth from excessive replacement bulbs in the landfills.

Http://www. greenandmore. com/compact-flourescent-bulbs. html (http://www. greenandmore. com/compact-flourescent-bulbs. html)
3. Energy Saving Power Strips
Ensure all appliances and electronics are really turned off

Turning off devices seems easy enough to do, but it takes extra time and remembering to actually flip a switch or push a button. Each time someone shuts off their TV, but forgets to turn off the DVD player or VCR and speakers, there is energy and money being wasted. There is new "smart strip" technology which can help alleviate using surplus electricity. For example, when a TV or computer is plugged into the "Control" outlet and when this appliance is turned off, the peripheral appliances, like a monitor or DVD player, automatically turn off as well. Smart Strips also allow for electronics that need to remain "always on" - like a cordless phone or fax machine. 7 or 10 outlet settings are available.

Http://www. greenandmore. com/smart-strip-energy-saving-power-strips. html (http://www. greenandmore. com/smart-strip-energy-saving-power-strips. html)
4. Evaporative Coolers or Swamp Coolers
Keep the indoors cool using less energy

By making a simple choice about how to cool down indoor spaces this summer, people can save up to 80% on the energy bill compared to traditional air conditioner units. For rooms between 150 sq. ft. - 750 sq. ft., an evaporative cooler, or swamp cooler, can handle the job of cooling while using one third the energy of a standard ac unit. Best suited for dry, hot climates, evaporative coolers do not use refrigerants, such as chlorofluorcarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons, which are known for damaging the ozone layer. Other benefits are a filter eliminates dust and pollen, and enjoy low maintenance and electricity costs.

Link for details on Evaporative Coolers:
Http://www. greenandmore. com/evaporative-coolers. html (http://www. greenandmore. com/evaporative-coolers. html)
5. Attic Insulation Covers
Eliminate energy loss by locating and reducing drafts

The potential energy savings from reducing drafts in a home may range from 5% to 30% per year (source: US Dept. of Energy), and the home is generally much more comfortable afterward. Experts recommend checking the attic hatch for air leaks, which is a cause of heat loss in a home. If the attic hatch is not insulated, a major source of energy loss can be eliminated by installing an attic insulation cover or attic tent. Once installed, the attic insulation kit produces a 3-5 degree difference in overall temperature. It reduces the loss of energy during the warm summer months, or colder winter months. Attic covers consist of a frame and lid. The frame serves as a barrier or dam to keep insulation from entering into the living area.

UCLA Health System Presents: How to Successfully Implement a Clinical Portal

UCLA Health System Presents: How to Successfully Implement a Clinical Portal

UCLA discusses the process of implementation, lessons learned, advantages and disadvantages of certain decisions and what they have planned for the future.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) February 22, 2010

UCLA discusses the process of implementation, lessons learned, advantages and disadvantages of certain decisions and what they have planned for the future.

WHO:  UCLA Health System has been a leader in patient care, medical research and clinical teaching for more than 50 years. As of 2007 they had seven different portals in operation across the organization. The reason for the homegrown approach was simply that the organization felt there was nothing on the market that could provide what they wanted at the time they needed it.

Although the homegrown portals addressed the immediate needs, the financial and resource costs of maintaining the systems were considerable. In addition, the ever-increasing demands of the clinicians and the healthcare industry, combined with the advances in technology, meant the systems needed continuous upgrades to meet high expectations and user satisfaction.

WHAT:  In 2007 the Orion Health Concerto Portal was selected after a global search for qualified clinical portal vendors. Since then UCLA has also implemented the Orion Clinical Documentation suite as an extension to the portal technology. This has provided a far more user-friendly, efficient and functionally rich documentation and HIM system. Today the solution is being rolled out to the 11,000+ users across UCLA, but it wasn't without a lot of hard work and lessons learned. Mr. Galbraith will discuss the process of implementation, lessons learned, advantages and disadvantages of certain decisions and what they have planned for the future.

WHEN:  Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 1pm EDT

Zelnorm Action Group and IBS Self Help Group Speak on Behalf of the Chronic Constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome Sufferer

Zelnorm Action Group and IBS Self Help Group Speak on Behalf of the Chronic Constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome Sufferer

Zelnorm is a much needed drug for the relief of chronic constipation and constipation predominant IBS sufferers

TORONTO, ONTARIO (PRWEB) June 18, 2004

The Zelnorm Action Group and IBS Self Help and Support Group strongly support the use of the drug Zelnorm (tegaserod maleate), the first drug to receive FDA-approval for short-term treatment of women with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) whose primary bowel symptom is constipation. Zelnorm is to be reviewed for the new indication of chronic constipation at an FDA Gastrointestinal CDER Advisory Committee Meeting on July 14, 2004.

Jeffrey Roberts, President and Founder of the Irritable Bowel Syndrome Self Help Group, and Founder of the Zelnorm Action Group, commented, "We are hearing from a large number of women who are taking Zelnorm for chronic constipation because their doctors believe it will help them. They have commented that they have finally been able to live a more normal life while taking this medication. The Zelnorm Action Group and IBS Self Help Group are beginning a campaign to inform the FDA as to how essential the drug is for our group. We intend to make several patient presentations to the FDA at the CDER Gastrointestinal Advisory Committee Meeting on July 14, 2004 at the FDA offices in Rockville, Maryland."

A member of the IBS Self Help Group wrote "I have been taking Zelnorm for an extended time primarily for chronic constipation and it has changed my life."

Members of the IBS Group have begun to write to the FDA in an effort to tell them the positive effects of the drug and how chronic constipation sufferers are already benefiting from the use of this drug.

Research published in Gastroenterology identifies for the first time a molecular defect in the gastrointestinal (GI) tracts of patients. The findings reinforce the critical role normal serotonin (5-HT) signaling plays in regulating GI function, pinpointing a difference in the way serotonin functions in certain cells lining the GI tract of IBS patients. This defect may underlie the clinical manifestations of IBS -- abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating, constipation and/or diarrhea -- that affect more than 40 million Americans.

In patients with IBS-C, Zelnorm has been shown to effectively restore deficient serotonin signaling by activating 5-HT4 receptors to increase GI motility in the gut. Zelnorm mimics the natural effects of serotonin, strengthening transmission in critical neural pathways, which normalizes impaired motility in the GI tract, inhibits visceral sensitivity (pain perception) and stimulates intestinal secretion of salts and water necessary in normal bowel function.

Background on Zelnorm:

Zelnorm increases the movement of stools (fecal matter) through the bowels. Zelnorm does not cure IBS, nor does it treat diarrhea-predominant IBS. Zelnorm reduces pain and discomfort in the abdominal area, and reduces bloating and constipation. The safety and effectiveness of Zelnorm in men have not been established.

Serious consequences of diarrhea, including hypovolemia, hypotension and syncope have been reported in the clinical studies and during marketed use of Zelnorm. In some cases, these complications have required hospitalization for rehydration. Zelnorm should be discontinued immediately in patients who develop hypotension or syncope. Zelnorm should not be initiated in patients who are currently experiencing or frequently experience diarrhea

About the Zelnorm Action Group

The Zelnorm Action Group was organized by members of the IBS Self Help Group (http://www. ibsgroup. org (http://www. ibsgroup. org)) and members in 2001 who had be involved in clinical trials for tegaserod maleate.

A top UK Acupuncturist Promotes 'Back Awareness Week' 17-23 October

A top UK Acupuncturist Promotes 'Back Awareness Week' 17-23 October

Tim Colman, one of the UK’s leading Acupuncturists’ spoke out today in support of National Back Awareness Week and against the tendency of sufferers to depend upon quick fix pain-killers, branding them “Disempowerment of the worst possible kind.”

Kingsbury, London (PRWEB) October 14, 2005

Tim Colman, one of the UK’s leading Acupuncturists’ spoke out today in support of National Back Awareness Week and against the tendency of sufferers to depend upon quick fix pain-killers, branding them “Disempowerment of the worst possible kind.”

The statement comes after BackCare – the charity for Healthier Backs, which is organising the annual national health awareness campaign, announced that 40% of adults will experience back pain sometime in the next 12 months.

Tim, who is skilled in treating both adults and children, stated his dismay when reading recent studies from France that record 80% of children having back pain in the last year. “If adults choose not to manage or look after their back, that’s one thing, but children need to be educated, to manage their health, not to ignore it.”

Tim states, “The current protocol on back care disempowers the patient, focusing upon pain killers, returning to work as soon as possible and manipulation if required. However, where is the education?

The main part of the problem is information and awareness, typically back pain is controllable, if not preventable.

We all need to be educated into taking control of our day to day health, I still regularly get clients who are being told by their GPs to take bed rest, but this may serve only to exacerbate the problem!

Time and again I find that clients have suffered for too long, without realising that control is actually in their own hands. This is why I whole heartedly endorse Back Awareness Week, and am supplying a free booklet to anyone who wants it.”

"Acupuncture is not new, its not even new age, its’ ancient medicine. We have lost the connectivity we once had to ourselves, each other and indeed to nature. If we have a chronic pain, surely ones first response should not be to pretend its not there by taking pain killers - which if they do work, often have side effects, and serve to only worsen the condition of the back, by ignoring its pain alarm”.

“Instead we could empower ourselves with education: gentle adjustments in lifestyle, posture, and few easy exercises alongside using specific acupuncture points with acupressure can often change a clients life beyond belief”.

Note to Editor: Tim is preparing a free booklet on Back Care support, structured into a simple but empowering acupressure programme. Using specific Acupuncture points, his goal is to provide powerful, rapid and long-term relief. Any and all requests should be made by sending S. A.E to the above address.

Tim is available for further comment or interview on the above numbers.

Cornell Researcher Says a Thinner You Means a Fatter Wallet: LightFull Satiety Smoothies weigh in with healthful, delicious replacements for everyday snacks we tend to choose

Cornell Researcher Says a Thinner You Means a Fatter Wallet: LightFull Satiety Smoothies weigh in with healthful, delicious replacements for everyday snacks we tend to choose

For the average woman, reducing calorie intake by just 70 calories a day could prove a boon to her wallet and her health, according to a new summary of peer-reviewed research conducted by John Cawley, Ph. D., Associate Professor at Cornell University.

SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) January 3, 2008

Dr. Cawley's new summary of research shows the impact of a BMI (body mass index) unit reduction in weight on a person's health and pocketbook. "Weighing less - even just a single unit of BMI less - is associated with considerable benefits including decreased risks of specific conditions like heart disease and cancer, decreased risk of mortality, decreased medical care costs and, among women, higher wages," says Dr. Cawley.

For the average woman, a one BMI reduction is the equivalent of losing seven pounds, which can be achieved by cutting just 70 calories a day.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), you're considered normal weight if you have a body mass index of 18.5-24.9, overweight if your BMI is 25-29.9, and obese if your BMI is 30 or greater. (Body mass index is equal to your weight in kilograms divided by your height in meters squared.) According to the CDC, two-thirds of Americans now fall into the categories of overweight and obese.

Health Benefits

The health benefits documented in Dr. Cawley's research summary are indisputable. A reduction of just one BMI unit can reduce a man's risk of colon cancer by 39 percent, and a woman's risk by 17 percent. A reduction of just one BMI unit can reduce the probability of diabetes by 11.6 percent and heart disease by 5.2 percent for both men and women.

The numbers are equally significant for sleep apnea, rectal cancer and pancreatic cancer.

Cost Benefits

Also noteworthy is how losing one BMI unit is associated with big savings in health care costs. For example, decreasing weight by a single unit of BMI can reduce medical and pharmaceutical costs by $4,040 over a 20-year period of time.

"The data also show a significant inverse relationship between weight and wages for certain women," Dr. Cawley said.

Simple substitutions for losing 1 BMI

"The average woman can lose one BMI unit in a year by simply reducing her caloric intake by just 70 calories a day," says Lara Jackle, CEO for LightFull Foods, creator of supremely satisfying LightFull Satiety Smoothies and champion of health and balance. "One easy and delicious way to do it is with all-natural, 90-calorie LightFull Satiety Smoothies, " she adds. "They're packed with fiber and protein, making them surprisingly filling. And because they make you feel fuller longer, chances are that you'll most likely eat less, and save even more calories," says Jackle.

"For example, if you're someone who stops by Starbuck's every morning for a Grande Low Fat Latte, replace it with a delicious LightFull Cafe Latte Satiety Smoothie. You'll save 100 calories a day, which translates to about 10 pounds a year for the average woman, and a reduction in your BMI of 1.79," Jackle says

LightFull Satiety Smoothies make great substitutions for a variety of other everyday snacks that we may tend to choose, such as:

-- A Yoplait 99% Fat Free Harvest Peach Yogurt -- replace with a LightFull Peachy Cream Satiety Smoothie and save 80 calories, about 8 pounds a year, and reduce your BMI by 1.43.

-- A bowl of Yogurt Burst Cheerios/Strawberry with reduced fat milk - replace with LightFull Strawberry Bliss Satiety Smoothie and save 70 calories, about 7 pounds a year, and reduce your BMI by 1.25.

-- An Odwalla Mango Tango - replace with a LightFull Mango Oasis Satiety Smoothie and save 210 calories, about 22 pounds a year, and reduce your BMI by 3.76.

-- A Snickers Bar - replace with a LightFull Chocolate Satisfaction Satiety Smoothie and save 183 calories, about 19 pounds a year, and reduce your BMI by 3.28.

LightFull Satiety Smoothies are available in five deliciously creamy flavors including Chocolate Satisfaction, Peachy Cream, Cafe Latte, Strawberry Bliss and Mango Oasis. Each is packed with five grams of fiber and protein, making the all-natural, 90-calorie snack surprisingly filling. Dairy-based LightFull Satiety Smoothies are made with a unique and proprietary blend of natural, GRAS-approved(1) sweeteners and contain less sugar than a glass of plain milk. Each is also gluten free, low glycemic, an excellent source of fiber and calcium, and contains no saturated fats, trans fats or cholesterol. As early as Spring 2008, all LightFull smoothies will be certified as kosher dairy and rBST-free.

LightFull Satiety Smoothies can be found at fine grocery stores and natural foods stores throughout the United States in the "grab and go" refrigerated beverages sections or on-shelf near aseptic dairy products and soy milk, and online. They can be purchased separately or in four-smoothie multipacks. Microsoft Great Plains or former Great Plains Software Dynamics/eEnterprise was designed in 1990th with specially created Great Plains Software Dexterity programming language and development environment.

Naperville, IL (PRWEB) October 13, 2006

Microsoft Great Plains or former Great Plains Software Dynamics/eEnterprise was designed in 1990th with specially created Great Plains Software Dexterity programming language and development environment. Currently Microsoft Business Solutions (renamed into Microsoft Dynamics) is applying new Microsoft. net, eConnect, XML web services and MS Office stack integration to Microsoft Dynamics GP, however Dexterity core is still strong and end-user integration – Microsoft Dynamics GP Integration Manager

Dexterity Fat Client as OLE Server. When you are launching Integration Manager - you need to close all Microsoft Great Plains forms, including menu pallets – the reason is simple – IM uses GP workstation as OLE server to validate IM manager integrations business logic enforcement directly through GP forms  VBA Scripting. You can do some SQL manipulations in advanced ODBC query, such methods as sorting, grouping, aggregation, however the real power of integration manager lays in the manipulation of VBA scripting – you can replace portions of IM logics with your custom VBA scripts. The same technique was popular for Microsoft Excel several years ago, prior to introduction of Microsoft. Net strategy  eConnect. As Microsoft plans – GP IM will be totally rewritten in eConnect – eConnect will allow to resolve IM performance issue and will so allow you huge real time integration (when you need to integrate thousand orders per hour for example).  C#, VB and MS Visual Studio. Contrary to Great Plains Dexterity, which is proprietary platform and requires company licensing and training to do programming, Visual Studio requires individual licensing and could be available to broad masses of programmers. Visual Studio developers should concentrate on eConnect direction of Microsoft Dynamics GP customization and integration  Axapta, Navision, Solomon directions. Microsoft Dynamics project as a successor of Microsoft Project Green is aiming to synchronize all Microsot ERp applications, however it is probably difficult to predict if it will be licensing/scaling/upgrade path or real modules cross-integration. Human Capital Institute Announces Pre-Summit Golf Tournament to Support Selamta Project in Ethiopia

The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that its second annual National Human Capital Summit, to be held in Phoenix March 19-21, will feature a Pre-Summit Benefit Golf Tournament on March 18 to support expansion of the Human Capital Foundation's Selamta Project in Ethiopia.

Washington, D. C. (PRWEB) December 15, 2006

The Human Capital Institute (http://www. humancapitalinstitute. org/hci/home. guid) (HCI), a professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that its second annual National Human Capital Summit (http://www. humancapitalinstitute. org/hci/events_conference_2007_main. guid), to be held in Phoenix March 19-21, will feature a Pre-Summit Benefit Golf Tournament on March 18 to support expansion of the Human Capital Foundation's Selamta Project in Ethiopia.

The Human Capital Foundation (http://www. humancapitalfoundation. org/hcf/hcf. home) (HCF) is an international charitable organization that provides direct assistance programs to help AIDS orphans and children living in extreme poverty in developing countries. The Selamta (be at peace) Project (http://www. humancapitalfoundation. org/hcf/africa_selamta_project. guid?_cache=-4812399287016342494&_cache=530995671752578205) includes a children's home, sponsorship and reunification programs, a clinic, and the creation of small group homes to accommodate the growing number of AIDS orphans.

Human capital development (http://www. humancapitalinstitute. org/hci/track_communities. guid) is critical to the long-term success of an expanding global economy. Corporate growth in the United States and Europe are increasingly bound to the developing workforce and consumer power of today's emerging economies. Yet many of the world's most strategic third world regions face worsening social and economic challenges that threaten their viability over the next decades.

HCI member organizations and dedicated volunteers are committed to help by providing assistance to those least able to cope, in those countries most severely impacted by AIDS and extreme poverty. HCF programs help AIDS orphans; HIV-infected and vulnerable children regain stability, health, and the love of a lifetime family. The objective is to transform those in greatest need today into a fabric of confident, educated young people who can contribute to the social and economic needs of their nation.

The Human Capital Institute underwrites operating expenses and donates 10 percent of membership fees to support the Foundation. Participation in the Benefit Golf Tournament will provide direct support for Selamta, where HCF is building a new community model to unite AIDS orphans in Ethiopia with supporting, loving in-country family homes.

"Support from the business and professional community enables us to make a difference in the lives of more children," said Carol Foster, HCF's Executive Director.

The Pre-Summit Benefit Golf Tournament begins at 12:00 p. m. MT on Sunday, March 18, and ends with a Post-Tournament Silent Auction & Awards Ceremony that will take place from 5:00 - 6:30 p. m. MT.

For Benefit Golf Tournament sponsorship information, please contact Nigel Leeming, Chief Development Officer, at 1-866-538-1909. Questions about the Selmata Project and other Human Capital Foundation efforts in Ethiopia, including other ways organizations can provide assistance, should be directed to Carol Foster at 802-299-2922.

Beautiful Forever’s Cheryl Whitman Says Medspa Hospital Trend Gaining Momentum; New Revenue Stream Makes This Trend a Winner on Hospitals’ ROI Scorecard

Beautiful Forever’s Cheryl Whitman Says Medspa Hospital Trend Gaining Momentum; New Revenue Stream Makes This Trend a Winner on Hospitals’ ROI Scorecard

Beautiful Forever, a leading provider of medical business spa consulting services, is energized by the growing national trend to bring medspa services under the hospital umbrella. Heralding this trend, CEO Cheryl Whitman presented “Executing a Successful Hospital Retail Model of Business” at the recent Pacquin Group Healthcare Retail ’06, Orlando, FL, that underscored the groundswell interest coast-to-coast from hospital executives eager to embrace this new trend as a major revenue producing business unit.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ, AND PARKLAND, FL (PRWEB) May 26, 2006

Beautiful Forever, a leading provider of medical business spa consulting services, is energized by the growing national trend to bring medspa services under the hospital umbrella. Heralding this trend, CEO Cheryl Whitman presented “Executing a Successful Hospital Retail Model of Business” at the recent Pacquin Group Healthcare Retail ’06, Orlando, FL, that underscored the groundswell interest coast-to-coast from hospital executives eager to embrace this new trend as a major revenue producing business unit. www. medicalspaconsultant. com

Hospitals are increasingly turning to professional consultants to help them take advantage of this opportunity because the world of elective/cosmetic medicine and services is new to them.

Says Whitman, “I do not believe the medical spa industry is heading into supermarkets and drugstores—instead the trend is moving towards the hospital retail business. Medical spas are growing and hospitals want to be on the edge of new technology and are for the first time acknowledging the need to embark marketing and website programs to grow their retail businesses. And the reason for this is the widely accepted notion that wellness is key to staying youthful as well as healthful, and therefore, there is no better place to get both than at your community hospital – a place your trust and know.”

According to Tony Paquin of The Paquin Group, “HealthCare retail is a business model rapidly being adopted by hospitals and healthcare systems that want to diversify from low margin, highly regulated, reimbursed revenue sources. We see medical spas as one of the most logical - and profitable - healthcare retail strategies on the market. Hospitals that promote a more comprehensive, consumer focused approach also report higher utilization of their core, acute care services." www. thepaquingroup. com

Whitman adds, “Armed with credible practitioners, and an atmosphere that enhances patients’ safe feeling of obtaining service within the wall of hospital setting, the trend is rapidly making sense for hospitals severely impacted by insurance reimbursements, both private and governmental. Looking for solid ways to increase physician business, and create a new revenue stream for the hospital, makes this trend a winner on the ROI scorecard.”

According to Mac Fadra, executive consultant at Beautiful Forever, "The medical spa world is becoming increasingly competitive and complex, and providers are struggling with choices and decisions pertaining to technology, investment, staffing, marketing, legal, development and other issues."

Fadra adds, "Unfortunately, the brainpower within a typical cosmetic practice is limited. Hence, physicians and hospitals are turning to professional consultants who can hold their hand and help them deal with both objective as well as subjective issues that can help them grow their practice while eliminating or reducing the unnecessary impediments.”

Beautiful Forever brings 25-years of trusted expertise, wisdom, and results-driven leadership to the field of medspa business development. Keeping pace with the ever-increasing specialized skin care ingredients hitting the marketplace, Beautiful Forever works with physicians and chemists to create winning skin care formulas for private label distribution.

CALIFORNIA SENIORS OBTAIN FREE, LONG-TERM NURSING HOME CARE WITH HELP FROM COMPANY WITH A MISSION NHS and Zoran K Basich Guides Families Through Government Regulations to Save Thousands of Dollars in Costs

(GLENDALE, CALIF.) – For more than a two decades, Nursing Home Services, LLC (NHS), Zoran K Basich, has helped the elderly and their families obtain little or no-cost government funded, nursing-home care. As the U. S. population matures and the large knot of Baby Boomers reaches retirement and nursing home ages, NHS is poised to provide even more needed services and information.

(PRWEB) September 23, 2004

"Many California seniors and their family members are under the mistaken impression that expensive long-term health care insurance policies and living trusts are useful and will provide needed financial protection," said Zoran K. Basich, NHS founder. "They donÂ’t know that trusts are of no value when it comes to long term illness and will most likely force the family to spend all of their hard earned money paying for high health care costs. Again, most families do not realize that in this day and age with people getting older and living longer, they face the harshest creditor of all -- health care. The irony is that with the proper plan in place, Medi-Cal/Medicaid benefits can be used to meet care costs and you donÂ’t need to be poverty stricken to receive them."

According to the Health Insurance Association of America, 7 million Americans 65 and older will need long-term care this year, and by 2020, that number will nearly double. And a recent survey conducted by AARP stated that, "the national average monthly cost of nursing home care is a frightening $4,654." And more than 55 percent of those surveyed mistakenly believed that Medicare foots the bill for nursing home care.

Basich, who has been doing this work for more than 22 years, founded NHS 11 years ago when he realized that California seniors and their family members were unaware of the government benefits that existed for them and how they could structure their estates to qualify for these government programs. He created a statewide network of long-term care consultants who conduct in-depth assessments, devise a plan to protect assets, act as liaisons between family members and government agencies, and help implement the plan to keep assets intact.

Rather than have California families pay for costly long-term care polices, NHS helps them obtain Medi-Cal/Medicaid benefits for long-term nursing home care while providing asset protection. NHS consultants provide not only future, long-term estate and illness planning but are available immediately during emergency health crisis to help families quickly obtain government funded benefits.

Company president Zoran K. Basich is an attorney and former founding member of Grey Law, a nonprofit legal services program for seniors and has served on the board of directors of the AlzheimerÂ’s Association, the Betty Clooney Foundation and the Southern California Head Injury Foundation.

Women Who Make Family Happen

Women Who Make Family Happen

Having Family Projects, Say Three Women, Helps Keep Relatives Happy

(PRWEB) March 30, 2005

Pamela Simonson looks around at her cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and others, and realizes being a part of a happy healthy family, often takes hard work and commitment. Even to the extent of creating special projects, having a mission, or undertaking unique endeavors.

A special endeavor Simonson alluded to, was a recent project started with her own family in mind. She was talking about the collection of family sayings her grandmother, mother, and she wrote together.

Their book, Pearls of Wisdom From Three Generations, epitomizes family, security, and love, with its many uplifting expressions, affirmations, and proverbs. She described the project as something that has galvanized her relationship with her mother and grandmother as business partners, as well as her predecessors. But she also sees it, as a template for other families to begin to develop deeper stronger relationships with loved ones.

As MotherÂ’s Day approaches, Simonson, a Washington National Opera soprano, is grateful for the sanctuary her family provides. She feels productive, committed, and enthusiastic about life as a result of them. The book is a by-product and manifestation of the love and could have taken form in any genre and can be done by relatives.

Simonson does not necessarily recommend every family write a book, but does encourage kinfolk to find common ground – outside of getting together for events, and solidify their talents or interests. She suggests projects in the arts, music, literature, compiling a video, or even creating a shared website. Simonson also mentioned families could start a non-profit company,

The third generation teacher follows in a line of strong women, her grandmother Celia Ford, and her mother, Theresa Allen, who shared the authorship of the book, but makes clear, it is the also strong men in her family that help make her who she is today.

Simonson explained that her grandfather and her aunt have had businesses together for years, which have helped develop respect on another level. While she and her brother, Victor Simonson, perform concerts together. The elder Simonson, also the Musical Director for the acclaimed Three Mo’ Tenors, and his sister are hailed as the “Only African American brother and sister vocal classical duet in the USA!

“My family is very tight knit and I think that helps. I am blessed not to have been down trodden, on drugs, or desolate,” stated Simonson. “My mother and grandmother and others have also been supportive in every way,” she continued.

“In fact, it has been our Pearls of Wisdom From Three Generations project that has bought us together on a more consistent basis. We have an opportunity to hear a different voice from each other. It is very good therapy – I recommend a special project for all families.” Simonson confidently stated.

She advises to find a special mission, adopt a project, or invest in business. The 27 year old music teacher also recommends making MotherÂ’s Day the kick-off date to start a project and have the first family meeting.

“My grandmother was 75, Mommie was 50, and I was 25 when we came up with the idea of doing Pearls of Wisdom From Three Generations”. Now we pen an advice column, Ask Pearls of Wisdom seen weekly in the Washington Informer and we are also working on other Pearls of Wisdom items. The trio was sitting in Ford’s kitchen two years ago when they realized they were exactly twenty-five years apart and decided to do something special. What first started out as a poem has become a beloved collection.

Ford, Allen, and Simonson have also evolved into doing motivational speaking and public events. Their recent presentation Pearls of Wisdom from Past Generations at the Smithsonian Institute highlighted their family history dating back to the 1700Â’s and included a multi-media slide show, artifacts, and family photographs.

Simonson believes in the ideology of God first, family second, and business third.

“It’s a blessing to be able to have all three rolled into one with our book, ” stated the New York native. They call the project a ministry now (God), working together (family), and make a couple of dollars on the side (business).

“Not a bad way to make your family work in a loving, productive, and fun way”, she said.

Airline Passengers At Risk of Death By DVT

Airline Passengers At Risk of Death By DVT

(PRWEB) March 15, 2001

Airline Passengers At Risk of Death By DVT

Powered Seats Hoped to Reduce Deaths

Contact: RealTimeTouch, Craig Linden

Phone: 619-445-3563 info@RealTimeTouch. com  www. RealTimeTouch. com __________________________________________________________________

SAN DIEGO, CA - March 13, 2001 - DVT is a silent terrorist and a leading cause of death related to long-haul flights. Reportedly, DVT kills more travelers and pilots than airline accidents. Deep Vein Thrombosis is a condition that develops primarily in the legs when long periods of inactivity occur. Certain long haul airline passengers can be at higher risk for DVT that can cause serious injuries and even sudden death.

For persons at risk for DVT who are immobile during long flights, the problem can begin with blood clots forming in the veins of the upper legs. As mobility resumes (once a passenger deplanes) the clot can break free of the vein, traveling to the heart and lungs causing an embolism, which can cause death.

After the late 2000 death of Ms. Emma Christopherson, a young adult passenger on a 20-hour flight from Australia to London, some airlines are pursuing ways to assist fliers with the prevention of DVT. The public needs to be more aware of DVT. Long-haul travelers should contact their doctors to best learn how to reduce the risk of DVT. Improving circulation via increased mobility during long-haul flights seems to be an important factor. However, taking walks on crowded planes can be a safety hazard. Because isles are narrow, and are often blocked by airline employees or carts, the congestion of additional people moving freely throughout the aircraft can be dangerous.

Design Systems Research and Development, near San Diego, California is working on possible solutions. The most promising is the development of physical active powered seating. In one design, the seats would extend down to the calves. The calf contact area would have programmed motorized rollers (beneath the fabric/cushion) to periodically help move the blood upward.

Another design has the bullocks support area of the seat split in two sections ~ left and right (not visually evident by looking at the seat). Two opposing, microprocessor controlled air cushions would inflate/deflate thereby relieving pressure on the veins while simulating a walking motion. This articulated seating motion might also help to relieve tension in the back muscles.

Following future third party testing of various designs and combinations, the company hopes that seats incorporating its technology will be made available to passengers at risk for DVT. The company hopes to gain assistance from the major airlines and others in the transportation industry. Eventually, the patent-pending technology may lower the associated health risks and improve comfort for all passengers ~ without having to lower airplane seating densities.

RealTimeTouch's (www. RealTimeTouch. com, a subsidiary of Design Systems) current projects include adding physical interactively to mobile phones, video and wireless games, remote medical devices, KineticTV™, and a new generation of connected toys.
