Fact or Fiction -- Terrorist Attack Our Nation Using Smallpox as a Weapon Against us?

Fact or Fiction -- Terrorist Attack Our Nation Using Smallpox as a Weapon Against us?

This fiction thriller Sledgehammer takes you inside the ER where one sees first hand what can happen when terrorists use smallpox against us. Action-packed drama that plays out well and leaves you wondering could it happen today?

Pompano Beach, FL (PRWEB) January 13, 2006

It very well could be real, but for now it’s the latest heart-pounding fiction book, Sledgehammer, about a terrorist who arrives in the ER with smallpox symptoms. An ER physician suspects it but has just six days to convince hospital executives and the U. S. Government before an epidemic breaks out.

The story is brought vividly to life by Dr. Paulo J. Reyes who obtained his MD at the UCSF School of Medicine, has 25 years in medicine and internal medicine and is a First Responder for the busiest cities in California specifically in terrorists training.

In Sledgehamamer, (http://www. pauloreyes. com (http://www. pauloreyes. com)) the lead character, Max Kroose, an intuitive emergency room physician, believes terrorists are to blame for the attack and fears the more lethal form of smallpox, called Sledgehammer, will kill within days. As time progresses, the terrorists planned attacks at a sports arena, mall and airport must be stopped. The question becomes can this ER doctor convince the hospital administration and the public health care system about the presence of this deadly disease and the need to vaccinate the American public. You won’t be able to stop reading as you seek to find out the truth in this non-stop thriller.

How big a threat is smallpox? “The Federal Government should allow voluntary smallpox vaccinations to protect us from smallpox bioterrorist attacks,” says Dr. Reyes. “At the very least the Federal Government should allow voluntary vaccinations of the first responders which should include all hospital medical staff. The President and the military have been vaccinated. Why shouldn’t the American public?”

Dr. Reyes also authored Health-Care Reform or Redistribution of Cost? and in his research of the health care system, he has seen its shortcomings. Realizing there is clear and present danger of a terrorist attack in the health care system has prompted him to support voluntary smallpox vaccinations.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) considers smallpox as a possible danger and includes it as one of the possible agents of a bioterrorist attack, in its website under the subheading Emergency Preparedness and Response along with anthrax, plague, and tularemia.

Reyes believes the Federal Government should consider a trial program to detect the presence of the virus – similar to a pregnancy test – so if the disease presents itself, it will be detected before it becomes an epidemic or pandemic.

The American public is immuno-naïve to smallpox, which means it could spread very rapidly, Reyes says. And containment could be even more difficult or impossible if the virus was aerosolized, which the CDC believes may be the case, he says.

With new terrorist attacks everyday in the United States and the fear of a global pandemic, Sledgehammer is a gripping book to get a real insight into what could possibly lie ahead unless immediate action is taken. Physicians Adopting New Test to Help Diagnose ADHD and AlzheimerÂ’s

Physicians Adopting New Test to Help Diagnose ADHD and AlzheimerÂ’s

A significant development in new screening tools for better detection of brain dysfunction is CNS Vital Signs, a simple-to-use computerized testing program for measuring the full range of cognitive impairment – from behavioral and learning problems in children to early signs of dementia in adults and brain injuries. June 2004 marked the one-year anniversary of the product’s introduction. During this first year, physicians and psychologists administered the program to thousands of patients throughout the world in routine clinical practice, in research, and in schools and workplaces.

CHAPEL HILL, NC (PRWEB) July 16, 2004

A recent Washington Congressional briefing on ADHD and unfolding details of President Reagan’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease highlight the critical need for better detection of brain dysfunction. A significant development in new screening tools is CNS Vital Signs, a simple-to-use computerized testing program for measuring the full range of cognitive impairment – from behavioral and learning problems in children to early signs of dementia in adults and brain injuries. June marked the one-year anniversary of the product’s introduction. During this first year, physicians and psychologists administered the program to thousands of patients throughout the world in routine clinical practice, in research, and in schools and workplaces.

CNS Vital Signs’ founder and board-certified psychiatrist, Thomas Gualtieri, M. D., said, “These cognitive tests help answer common questions patients have, such as, ‘Could my energetic child have ADHD?’ or ‘Is my mom able to drive?’” Dr. Gualtieri and colleagues at the North Carolina Neuropsychiatry Clinic have administered the tests to more than 2,500 patients seen in their clinic. Those patients tested range in age from 8 to 89 years old.

According to the National Institutes of Health, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD or ADHD) affects an estimated 1 in 20 school-aged children. The AlzheimerÂ’s Association estimates that 4.5 million Americans have AlzheimerÂ’s disease.

Bob Patterson, M. D., who runs a family medical practice in Sanford, N. C., said, “This software lets me do a better job of treating my patients. Before CNS Vitals Signs came along, in suspected ADD cases, we relied mostly on the history from teachers and subjective answers to a list of questions. Remarkably, we now have this affordable test that the patient takes on a basic PC in our office in under 30 minutes and that produces instant, objective, and scientific results.”

CNS Vital Signs, based in Chapel Hill, N. C., was formed in 2002. The company introduced its CNS Vitals Signs software at the 2003 American Psychiatric Association annual conference. A fast, highly precise means for evaluating patients’ cognitive function, the user-friendly software helps detect problems sooner and helps quantify drug treatment effects. It consists of a computerized, condensed version of the gold standard tests that specialists have used for years to identify problems with memory, attention, and motor speed – areas that usually start to fail with any neurological condition before clinical symptoms develop. Similar neurological testing done by a specialized, referred physician can cost the patient $800 to $2500 and may take from 4 hours to 2 days. In contrast, the interactive CNS Vital Signs series of tests costs only a small fraction of that fee, is reimbursable by insurance and takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Medical professionals and researchers can download the software, including a free evaluation version from the company website (http://www. cnsvitalsigns. com (http://www. cnsvitalsigns. com)). Healthcare Education Campaign Goes Global - eHealthInfoLine. com to Report on Lipodissolve Regulatory Action Overseas

Healthcare Education Campaign Goes Global - eHealthInfoLine. com to Report on Lipodissolve Regulatory Action Overseas

Lipodissolve safety concerns are growing overseas. eHealthInfoLine. com will continue to track and report on lipodissolve regulatory action overseas.

Wenatchee, WA (PRWEB) September 10, 2008

eHealthinfoline. com, the consumer's choice for up-to-date news and information in the realm of health and fitness is currently expanding to provide readers with the latest on medicines abroad. "We at eHealthInfoLine aim to provide the most comprehensive database possible and believe that all consumers should have easy access to medical advances both in the US and overseas," says Bill Francis, a senior editor for eHealthInfoLine. com (http://www. ehealthinfoline. com/).

EHealthInfoLine. com has been tracking scientific breakthroughs and new drug approvals since the company's conception in 2007. Their Consumer Health News Monitoring Program has allowed them to follow breaking headlines on a wide variety of topics ranging from the latest tumor killing skin cancer drug to latest advances in plastic surgery. This month eHealthInfoLine's experts have been digging deep into the new spot fat removal treatment, Lipodissolve (http://www. lipotreatmentfacts. org/), to see what the global medical community is saying about this highly controversial procedure.

Lipodissolve, also known as injection lipolysis, is marketed as the non-invasive alternative to liposuction involving injections of phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate (PCDC) into small deposits of fat. Outside of the US, the PCDC formulation is marketed by the name, Lipostabil®. According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (http://www. surgery. org/), over 33,000 injection lipolysis procedures were performed in 2007, despite the fact that the FDA has stated, "these are unapproved drugs for unapproved uses and we cannot guarantee consumers' safety."

"We feel that consumers have the right to know," says Francis. "When a warning or alert is issued about a medical treatment, we run a news search to track regulatory approvals or warnings in the United States and abroad."

Staff at eHealthInfoLine have found that Lipodissolve (http://www. ehealthinfoline. com/lipo_dissolve. html) has been banned or warned against in several countries. The National Agency of Health Inspection in Brazil banned the use of PCDC for injectable fat removal because the drug has never been approved for cosmetic use. In the UK, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) warned against the use of Lipostabil® and malpractice insurers withdrew coverage for physicians using PCDC. Furthermore, Health Canada has ordered physicians to stop marketing and administering PCDC for injectable fat removal because of the lack of well-controlled studies of safety and efficacy.

Despite the regulatory bans or warnings overseas, Lipodissolve is still being used worldwide especially across the U. S. and Europe. Network Lipolysis, an agency that certifies physicians in administering PCDC, has trained over 1,000 physicians worldwide on the practice of injection lipolysis. The trend may be slowing, however, because the FDA has issued numerous statements declaring, "Lipo-dissolve (http://www. lipotreatmentfacts. org/lipofaq. php) is not FDA approved for any use."

The research team at eHealthInfoLine has discovered a growing concern over PCDC injections by additional regulatory authorities overseas. In Australia for example, the Therapeutic Goods Administration is looking to rectify a loophole that allows the importation of Lipostabil® seeing that it is an unapproved drug and the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australia has found it to cause severe side effects including considerable swelling that could last up to two weeks. New Zealand's regulatory authority, Medsafe (http://www. medsafe. govt. nz/), is also investigating the fat-busting injection by banning advertising of the treatment until it has been approved for distribution and subjecting offenders to hefty fines or jail time.

Staff at eHealthInfoLine. com will continue efforts to track regulatory actions and latest news on PCDC use as well as other therapies both on a domestic and international scale. "We believe that it is crucial to understand the regulatory status and enforcement actions of drug treatments across the world when making decisions on our health here in the United States," says Francis. "We want consumers to be educated about the healthcare decisions they make."

After 10 Years A Stronger and More Enhanced Form of Viagra Now Available

After 10 Years A Stronger and More Enhanced Form of Viagra Now Available

The Board Certified Physicians of Manhattan Scientific, Inc. have developed the strongest and most effective libido/intimacy enhancement therapy called VaietTM 110/L-Arginine for men and VaietTM 60/L-Arginine for women.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 15, 2009

Manhattan Scientific, Inc. is proud to announce the release of their exclusive Viagra/Arginine Intimacy Enhancement Therapy or VAIET (named after their clinical study). Vaiet is the most advanced medication of its kind. Viagra (chemical/generic name-Sildenafil Citrate) is Pfizer's FDA-approved drug used to treat male Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and recently Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD). It increases the body's ability to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation as well as to increase blood flow and sensitivity of the clitoral-vaginal regions to achieve orgasm. Vaiet 110 was developed for men to overcome tolerance to commonly prescribed ED medications and to produce much stronger erections. Vaiet 60 is made specifically for women based on research studies indicating that doses greater than 50mg and below 100mg is of most benefit to women in greatly enhancing their sexual response cycle (ex. desire, sensitivity and orgasm).

Adding L-Arginine greatly increases the levels of Nitric Oxide (NO) in the corpus cavernosum and the clitoral-vaginal area, resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood. This causes engorgement leading to erection and stretching of nerve endings resulting in increased sensitivity and pleasure.

What are the claimed benefits of using Manhattan Scientific, Inc.'s exclusive Vaiet?
Sildenafil Citrate is already researched and proven safe and effective.

-Research shows that tolerance to ED medications does develop which is overcome by having the additional 10mg and L-Arginine.

-All the benefits of L-Arginine and its conversion to Nitric Oxide (NO).

-The strongest and most enhanced treatment of its kind.

-No increased side effects with the addition of L-Arginine and the 10mg.

-Made at a Board Certified FDA approved compounding US pharmacy.

-Patented microencapsulation for quicker absorption (30 min for onset of action with Vaiet 110mg capsules compared to 60 min for the regular 100mg tablets).

Here are some comments from Manhattan Scientific, Inc.'s patients on Vaiet 110 for men and Vaiet 60 for women:

"I am 53. I am a physician and have battled ED for many years. This is an incredible development. The genius is in the formula. I'm a frequent user of Vaiet 110 and it never let me down (no pun intended). And your cost is better than anyone out there. A huge thanks to the Manhattan Scientific docs."-Anthony, B.

"I am 48. I've used the different ED drugs for 3 years but became tolerant to them. The 100mg was not as effective as before. I am very happy with Vaiet 110 and how well it works. I would never switch to another ED treatment because this is the best."-Jonathan, W.

"I am 52. I suffer from menopause and lack of orgasms is part of the problem. I was skeptical that Vaiet 60 would do anything. On the first dose I felt a significant difference physically and was able to achieve an orgasm. Something I had not experienced for quite some time."-Rhonda, H.

"He is 52. My husband has been diabetic for 24 years. He started having problems maintaining an erection. I have menopause causing vaginal dryness and reduced sensitivity. We read about Manhattan Scientifics' Vaiet 110 for him and Vaiet 60 for her and ordered it the same evening. I took mine and he took his. I tell you-it was incredible! After a long time-we both achieved orgasm at the same time. We can go for hours now. Our love life has never been better."-Suzanne, P.

"He is 41. I did not realize the importance of "sex" in a relationship, but I guess my husband did. I hate to admit this, but we have not been able to have adequate sex in over a year now. He has taken all the different erectile medications with diminishing results. I did not understand his anger and frustration, but I think it was his ego and his pride that we females do not understand fully. He finally opened up to me about all of this frustration and told me he that these medications were not producing the same initial results and that there was no breakdown in the relationship. We searched the internet and found Manhattan Scientifics' Vaiet 110. He was so anxious to try it-we ordered right away. Wow! What a difference 10mg with this L-Arginine and a technology called microencapsulation can make."-Michelle, A.

Canadian Music Icon Bif Naked Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Canadian Music Icon Bif Naked Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Bodog Music recording artist Bif Naked revealed Sunday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer in a radio interview with George Stroumboulopoulos.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) January 9, 2008

Only three months after her highly publicized marriage to Vancouver Sun extreme sports columnist Ian Walker, platinum selling Bodog Music recording artist Bif Naked revealed Sunday in a candid radio interview with noted Canadian television and radio personality George Stroumboulopoulos that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

"It is a very surreal situation for Ian and I at this time. Two weeks ago, I was doing a self breast exam and discovered a lump. I went into my doctor for a checkup and he immediately sent me for tests, including a mammogram, which indicated a high possibility of cancer. From there, things have gone at what seems like light speed: biopsy, blood tests, cancer clinic. It's been two weeks from being completely healthy to cancer patient with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy scheduled," explained Bif.

Bif Naked is currently in preproduction on two new albums. The first is the highly anticipated sixth Bif Naked album, following her 2005 release Superbeautifulmonster. She has also devoted herself to a second recording project, Jakkarta, with Spanish-born, death-metal guitarist La Machina. The music of Jakkarta revisits the heavier sounds of Bif's roots and the gutsiness of her early works.

"I plan on taking it one day at a time and to tackle this with a positive attitude," Bif told George on his nationally-syndicated radio program The Strombo Show. "I have never been one to give up when an obstacle is placed in front of me. I am in the fight of my life, and I'm lucky to have the support of my husband Ian and many friends and family members. With the help of my Bodog Music family, I plan to continue working on these recording projects in between the cancer treatments and come out the other side with two great albums and a clean bill of health. I'm glad it's me and not my mom," Bif continued. "I'm glad it's me and not my sister. I'm glad it's me and not any of my friends. I am ready for the fight."

Bif Naked's career has been built on her tireless touring, performing and recording. Additionally, her efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle and straight edge obedience are Bif's badges of honor. Her diligence in maintaining the diet of a live food vegan, a stringent workout ethic and yoga schedule keep Bif centered.

Bif notes, "It is important for everyone to understand that cancer is non discriminatory and even those in great health can be subject to cancer as a diagnosis. Winter Haven, FL (PRWEB) June 30, 2010

DocuLex (http://www. doculex. com), creator of document and content management software, announces receiving industry analyst Buyers Lab's top 5-Star rating for the company's flagship offering, DocuLex Archive Studio. To review the Buyers Lab report, visit http://www. doculex. com/releases. htm.

The report's overview states:

"DocuLex Archive Studio combines a scan capture and routing tool with a document management repository to form a cohesive content management, workflow and document collaboration system. Noteworthy is that it's one of the few offerings on the market that includes the archive component, WebSearch, and a robust scan component, Goby Capture, in a single package. Furthermore, except for additional logins for the repository, all features and functionality are standard so businesses receive everything up front. While Goby Capture and WebSearch can be implemented separately, DocuLex reports that approximately 95 percent of customers choose to purchase the suite.

"The software helps organizations achieve greater efficiency, comply with regulations such as HIPAA and, most importantly, manage the lifecycle of myriad types of files. Once documents are scanned into the archive, or directly saved there from virtually any application, users can, among other things, search, retrieve, add metadata to and share files - all from a Web browser. Workflow is another part of the system and has been dramatically enhanced from the previous version. Powered by DocuLex's 'decision engine,' organizations can automate the structure of document exchanges so work activities have consistency and are accomplished efficiently and to completion.

"The company states that Archive Studio has found a home in many vertical markets: accounting, legal, manufacturing, healthcare, education and human resources, as well as architectural, engineering and construction environments. Professional Edition - the subject of this report - is suitable for small and medium-size businesses. Small Office Edition is targeted at workgroups and departments, while Enterprise Edition is ideal for larger organizations that desire one content management solution to be used across all departments and/or locations."

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections Treat the Underlying Cause of Knee Arthritis, Notes Cleveland-area Orthopedist Robert Zanotti, MD

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections Treat the Underlying Cause of Knee Arthritis, Notes Cleveland-area Orthopedist Robert Zanotti, MD

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections use growth factors in a patient’s own blood to help the body heal tendon injuries—and now this natural therapy also shows promise in treating knee arthritis. The first U. S. study of PRP as a viable means of managing knee osteoarthritis appears in the December American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Sheffield Village, OH (PRWEB) December 15, 2010 —

According to a pilot study published in the December American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, platelet-rich plasma or PRP injections produce significant improvements in pain and function among patients with primary and secondary knee osteoarthritis.

“PRP injections have been popularized by pro athletes,” explains Robert Zanotti, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at the Center for Orthopedics in Sheffield Village, Ohio, just west of Cleveland.

“Tiger Woods got PRP injections in his elbow, and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward had them to treat a sprain in the medial collateral ligament, or MCL, in his right knee,” says Dr. Zanotti, who is fellowship-trained in sports medicine. “Now, we are using PRP injections at the Center for Orthopedicsto treat Baby Boomers’ knee arthritis.

“PRP is a form of Regenerative Injection Therapy, an emerging treatment approach that helps stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself,” Dr. Zanotti explains. “Blood platelets contain powerful healing proteins called growth factors. Conversely, cortisone injections treat arthritis symptoms by getting rid of inflammation in and around the affected joint. PRP aims to address the cause of arthritis; cortisone treats the effect.

“Inflammation is a part of the body’s natural healing response,” says Dr. Zanotti. A study from the Netherlands presented at the 2010 annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons suggests that PRP therapy is more effective than cortisone injections in treating degenerating tendon tissue.

“PRP helps start the body’s inflammation and tissue regeneration cascade,” Dr. Zanotti explains. “In a PRP treatment, blood is drawn from the patient. The blood is then placed in a machine called a centrifuge, which spins it down to separate the platelets from other blood components such as red and white blood cells. This process, which takes just a few minutes, increases the concentration of platelets up to 1,000%. Then the concentrated growth factors are injected directly into the affected area to stimulate the patient’s healing.

Dr. Zanotti emphasizes the need to choose PRP patients carefully. “PRP isn’t for someone who’s 80 with total osteoarthritis,” he explains. “Ideal PRP patients are those with early arthritis who have good knee alignment, have probably had a knee scoped and cleaned out and have been told they have small arthritic areas or OCDs—osteochondral defects. If they’ve tried injections of cortisone or a lubricating gel such as Synvisc and they’re still having discomfort, PRP can be a good option.”

Case in point: Ruth Ann Kanzeg, a 54-year-old nurse from LaGrange, Ohio who developed stabbing pain in her knees. “It became uncomfortable to walk,” she recalls. “I had to give up running and even jogging on a treadmill. When I went to the orthopedist and saw my knee x-rays, I said, ‘I can’t have arthritis! Fix this!’”

Kanzeg tried cortisone and Synvisc injections. She also had arthroscopic surgery after she tore the lateral and medial meniscus in one of her knees.

In September, Kanzeg had a PRP injection in her left knee and it worked so well that she had her right knee treated in October. “I feel wonderful!” she says.

Just a month later, she took a trip to the Grand Canyon, where she hiked and went on a mule ride. “I was the only one in our group who got off the mule and didn’t have issues,” Kanzeg laughs. “After a mule ride, people usually have problems with their back or knees—even people whose knees are normal. And I didn’t have any problems. I was thrilled! I got off the mule and did a little dance.

“I’m a very active person,” Kanzeg adds. “I’m 54, but mentally I’m a lot younger. And I don’t want to stop doing the things I love to do. I don’t want my body to slow me down. We Baby Boomers are taking care of everybody—our parents, our children. Now we really need to take care of ourselves. And a big part of that is staying healthy.

“The PRP injections have done a really good job,” she says. “I’m very excited to get back to my normal activities without pain.”

PRP injections may not be covered by insurance plans.

Is a Small Business Owner the Key to our Economic Recovery?

Is a Small Business Owner the Key to our Economic Recovery?

Mike Vallerie, a small business owner and employer, is running for Congress in Maryland’s 7th district. He explains how Congress’ lack of business experience affects decision making in today's economy. Mike points out that what is obvious to small employers is invisible to politicians. In addition, Mike Vallerie provides reasonable solutions that result in a reduction of federal spending and job creation.

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) September 10, 2010

Mike Vallerie, a Maryland small business owner and employer is running for Congress as a result of the passing of the Stimulus Bill and the Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. "These bills are bad decisions that defy common sense.”

Mike Vallerie believes that the current political leaders lack the business experience required to make decisions regarding our economy. “We have a large number of highly educated men and women in power, with no direct experience as employers and no bottom line responsibility, dictating what it takes to make an economy healthy,” says Vallerie.

According to Vallerie, it is impossible to expect an economic recovery without addressing the following:

1. The residential construction market cannot recover from its over-inflation due to fraudulent mortgages.
2. The systematic outsourcing of manufacturing, eliminates jobs for a significant portion of the American workforce.
3. By ignoring abuses of health care and social insurance programs, abusers are effectively rewarded for cheating the system.

“Instead of policing the abuse, the government continues to expand these programs. Many lower income Americans find it financially beneficial to collect social insurance and work ‘off the books".

Mike Vallerie believes that Washington has forgotten the collective identity of the average American worker and he points out our high school graduates and non-graduates make up one-half of America's workforce. “By outsourcing manufacturing, the employment opportunities for these American workers have been reduced. This segment of our economy is the first to be fired and the last to be hired. This is where we need the jobs,” says Vallerie. “Creating jobs at this level will create jobs at all levels. It will be a trickle up effect!”

As a taxpayer, Mr. Vallerie cites that Washington has forgotten who the taxpayers are and more accurately they ignore the fact that half of the American workforce is shouldering the tax burden for the whole workforce and “we the taxpayers are not an endless source of revenue”.

In fact, Washington has been more interested in the efforts of special interest groups such as ACORN than in its taxpaying citizens. Whatever happened to the "greater good"?

Vallerie finds that two idioms apply here: "the squeaky wheel gets the grease," and the person who keeps his "nose to the grindstone" pays for it.

According to the Small Business Administration, small business is responsible for 80% of this country's newly created positions. In addition, Vallerie reminds us that small business is the primary agent for our government for the collection of income tax and sales tax, and the primary distributor of health insurance. The federal government does not contribute 50% to the cost of health care. The taxpayer may or the employer may, but it is not the federal government.

The demise of the American manufacturing industry is also linked to the deterioration of the American worker's attitude. According to Vallerie, “today the sense of entitlement is so high that many small business employers will forgo growth opportunities to avoid the frustration of dealing with workers”.

Social insurance programs are grossly abused. However, political leaders are in denial.

Mike Vallerie’s platform clarifies problems and promotes solutions. His website focuses on the following: comprehensive manufacturing plan, health care, the need for tax reform, and illegal immigration.

His comprehensive manufacturing plan addresses three different areas of concern on different levels. Click on the links below for details.

1. The local level (http://www. mikev4congress. com/educationlabor. html)-- Education: preparing young persons for the workforce. High school graduate and non-graduates are not prepared for the workforce and do not possess the self-discipline or confidence required to maintain steady employment.

2. The state level (http://www. mikev4congress. com/mfgcomprehensiveapproac. html)-- The costs of social insurances are driving employers to hire people as subcontractors or to not hire at all. Insurances are over exploited by insurance companies, attorneys, physicians and individuals. This exploitation is the root of our failure with insurances.
A. Health Care Benefits (http://www. mikev4congress. com/healthcareoursolution. html). In 2009, Vallerie Trailer Service's monthly health premium for each family was $1,550, which is $9 per hour, $4.50 to the employee and $4.50 to the employer. "This explains why none of our employees take family coverage".
B. Unemployment Compensation (http://www. mikev4congress. com/unemploymentbenefits. html). Disgruntled employees walk off the job and the Department of Employment continually finds the employer guilty of dismissing the employee with out proper cause. The ex-employee is granted benefits, the employer's tax rate is increased and the employer must hire a new person to do that job.
C. Worker Compensation (http://www. mikev4congress. com/tortreformworkerscomp. html): In 2008, Vallerie Trailer Service (http://www. Vallerietrailer. com) had two claims, one was significant and an honest accident($90,000). In the second claim, the employee worked for them for only one hour. This was a $20,000 claim for a cut on the thumb (possible nerve damage). Due to these two claims, Vallerie Trailer Service lost their 20% discount and now pays a 30%surcharge.

3. The national level (http://www. mikev4congress. com/manufacturing. html)-- Tariffs can be utilized as a tool to bring back just enough manufacturing (5% is all we need) to get all Americans back in good paying jobs.

This manufacturing plan does not require stimulus funds.

The platform also addresses health care and explains why tort reform is a viable answer. In addition, the plan explains how, by using tort reform and by eliminating coverage for routine care, we will see a reduction in the cost of routine care to the point that routine office visits are affordable for everyone.

GenoMed Charges That Its Cure for Most Kidney Failure Is Being Suppressed

GenoMed Charges That Its Cure for Most Kidney Failure Is Being Suppressed

There are 250,000 people on kidney dialysis in the U. S., 90% of whom have diabetes or high blood pressure as the cause of their kidney failure. Three years ago GenoMed published a way to reverse chronic kidney failure from diabetes or high blood pressure. But none of the organizations looking for cures have been willing to publicize GenoMed's findings. As a result, the public is still unaware that a cure exists.

ST. LOUIS (PRWEB) September 24, 2005

GenoMed (OTC Pink Sheets GMED), a Next Generation Disease Management company whose business is public health, charged today that news of its ability to prevent up to 90% of chronic kidney disease has been suppressed for the past three years.

Three years ago, GenoMed published a peer-reviewed medical article showing how chronic kidney disease due to diabetes and high blood pressure can be prevented. Diabetes and high blood pressure account for 90% of kidney dialysis patients in the United States. Medicare currently spends about $25 billion annually on kidney failure, in the form of dialysis and kidney transplantation.

Prevention is not possible once a patient is on dialysis. There is a narrow window of opportunity when prevention is still possible: before the patient has lost more than half of their kidney function, that is, when their serum creatinine is still less than 2. Patients are still being seen by their primary care providers at this point, and haven't yet been referred to kidney doctors. So education of patients and their primary care providers--general internists and family practitioners--is key.

Reporters required independent confirmation of GenoMed's claims, evidently being unwilling or unable to evaluate the scientific paper for themselves. Yet none of the professional kidney associations has been willing to endorse or attempt to replicate this treatment. Not the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS), who were briefed on this treatment a year ago, not the National Institute for Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), an Institute within the National Institutes of Health, not the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, not the National Kidney Foundation, nor the American Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Nephrology, the American Kidney Fund, the American Association of Kidney Patients, the numerous regional ESRD Networks which manage dialysis facilities, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, the American Medical Association, nor the National Medical Association. Since dialysis primarily affects people of color, the NMA's silence has been particularly hurtful. Nor has the Society of Transplant Surgeons spoken up, although there is a chronic kidney shortage in the U. S., and preventing the need for kidney transplants would certainly help.

Said Dr. David Moskowitz, GenoMed's CEO and Chief Medical Officer, "The American people saw unforgettably how federal, state, and local governments failed the people of New Orleans just three weeks ago. What the American people don't realize is how they've all been short-changed for the past three years. Minorities are much more affected by kidney failure than whites. There's a dialysis boom on Indian reservations."

Dr. Moskowitz continued, "By their silence, the organizations which the public relies on to protect their health have instead let them down, no doubt out of self-interest. Apparently the non-profit organizations have all learned the lesson of the March of Dimes, which, by defeating polio, lost its raison d'etre. Nephrologists and transplant surgeons have forgotten that the goal of every physician is to prevent disease and put themselves out of business."

Warning Issued by the Federal Congressional Budget Office about Worker Compensation

Warning Issued by the Federal Congressional Budget Office about Worker Compensation

Bad news was heard by anyone who pays for worker compensation when the Federal Congressional Budget Office issued its analysis of the Terrorism Risk and Insurance Act of 2001 (TRIA). The act known as TRIA was a backstop for re-insurance companies in case of a terrorist attack. The Federal Congressional Budget Office is recommending the TRIA be allowed to expire allowing the marketplace the opportunity to prepare for a pro-longed battle against terrorism. One of the main areas that will be affected if TRIA is allowed to expire will be Worker Compensation. Workers Compensation insurance is required to cover against all losses. A near-term, substantial increase is most likely according to the recommendation. Worker Compensation expert, Cary Duke, of The Comp Expert, states business owners can begin to prepare against this warning of substantial increase by addressing the prevention and management of worker injuries.

Flower Mound, TX (PRWEB) January 13, 2005

Most business owners already believe they are paying an excessive amount for their worker compensation insurance. Many states are actively working to fix the broken workers compensation system such as what has occurred in California. Texas and South Carolina have legislative agendas to cover this exact issue. The announcement by Federal Congressional Budget Office is more evidence that business owners must become proactive in preventing their insurance premiums from sky rocketing. The use of injury prevention methods, outside of safety programs, to decrease workers compensation is part of an overall program that risk managers, insurance agents and business owners can implement that create a better workplace. Utilization of pre-employment examinations combined with a post-offer of employment can uncover potential risks. The reason is that questions and answers may be discovered during this process that are not allowed by traditional hiring interviews. Many employees feel as if they are left to fend for themselves if they do become injured. Employers miss a great opportunity to make a difference to their employees when they do not stay involved in the process. Leaving the “system” responsible for getting the employee healthy and able to return to work.

The announcement by the Federal Congressional Budget Office of its recommendation to allow the Terrorism Risk and Insurance Act of 2001 to expire is a warning to all business owners to keep an eye on their insurance program. It is about to change and not for the better. In the face of the challenges presented by this announcement and the many legislative changes occurring, it is more important than ever that business owners find assistance. The Institute of Work Comp Advisors is one such resource. Cary Duke, a certified Work Comp Advisor, believes these experts can make a meaningful difference to assist employers through these challenging times. Wowing the National Retail Federation Convention

Wowing the National Retail Federation Convention

Creative Realties' CEO, Jason Friedman, Explains the Anatomy of Wow

Fairfield, NJ (PRWEB) February 12, 2009

The DESiGN STUDiO at the 98th National Retail Federation Convention & Expo kicked off on January 12th with Jason Friedman's presentation, "The Anatomy of Wow." Friedman, CEO and founder of Fairfield, NJ-based experiential marketing and branding company, Creative Realities, explained that the best way to reach shoppers is through experiences that wow.

"A wow is a surprise of an elevated magnitude," said Friedman. "We have become so saturated with traditional advertising and marketing campaigns that we've built up an immunity. In today's economic climate, retailers have to reach their customers on a gut level. And the only way to do that is to wow them."

Friedman punctuated his explanation of wow with high-tech, low-tech, and no-tech examples successful retailers have used to engage shoppers. One example was the REI store in Seattle, which caters to outdoor enthusiasts. REI installed a 65-foot climbing wall inside its store to bring the climbing experience directly to its shoppers. "It is important to give shoppers the experience they most want, right then and there," said Friedman. "Shoppers want immediacy."

Friedman talked about the importance of bringing memorable experiences to the forefront of customers' minds. As an example, he discussed the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, where authentic-looking dinosaur puppets roam the corridors, simultaneously startling and delighting visitors. Video footage aired during the presentation showed the reactions of museum goers as they stood face-to-face with a seemingly live Tyrannosaurus Rex. The short film ended, a roar was heard backstage, and a T-Rex puppet, designed by ERTH and on loan from the Natural History Museum, lumbered into the studio.

"There must have been a hundred cameras taking pictures," said Dan Butler, VP of Merchandising and Retail Operations for the NRF "The dinosaur really added another level to the whole experience."

Friedman is an authority on creating visceral environments and experiences for organizations in varied fields. His company, Creative Realities, has clients that include retailers (Foot Locker, Radio Shack, Samsung, T-Mobile, Time Warner), banks (Bank of America, Wachovia), hotels (Hyatt, W Hotels), and universities (Harvard University, Stanford University), among others. Creative Realities is also helping to create the environment for the largest retail and entertainment complex in the United States, Meadowlands Xanadu.

Skincare Anti-Aging Breakthrough: Idebenol and Idebenone Skin Care Arrives

Skincare Anti-Aging Breakthrough: Idebenol and Idebenone Skin Care Arrives

Skincare-News. com explains the long-awaited arrival of idebenol and idebenone, two potent anti-aging ingredients.

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) May 21, 2008

Used to treat Alzheimer's disease, depression and stroke, idebenone only recently entered the skin care market with a big, exciting bang; dermatologists and patients alike anticipated its arrival. Idebenol, a similar ingredient, has also enjoyed surging popularity. Skincare-News. com's latest article, "Idebenol and Idebenone," discusses the research behind both idebenol and idebenone and how they are effective anti-aging ingredients.
Http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=563 (http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=563)

For one, idebenol and idebenone guard skin against free radical damage, says dermatologist Audrey Kunin, M. D. It's free radicals, or environmental factors, including chemicals, pollutants and cigarette smoke, that damage skin and cause signs of aging, such as Idebenol. UV rays also produce free radicals, harming cell proteins and lipids, causing cell damage and death, Dr. Daniel B. Mowrey tells SkinStore. One study found that idebenol protects cells from UV damage and death, whereas untreated cells had a much higher death rate, adds Dr. Mowrey.

Research also suggests idebenol boosts skin renewal, a process where skin cells go through stages of growing, flaking away and being replaced by new cells, clarifies Dr. Mowrey. In younger people, the renewal rate is faster than older people. Dr. Mowrey cites a study where renewal rates were measured for a mature group -- averaging 67 years old -- and a young group -- averaging 29 years old. The mature group applied idebenol, whereas the young group received no treatment. The mature group's average renewal rate dropped from 24.1 days -- their rate before treatment -- to 18.6 days. The young group's renewal rate was 16.6 days on average. So, this study suggests that idebenol speeds up cell renewal, producing smooth, new skin to replace rough, older skin.

Idebenone: Described as a "high-octane antioxidant" by Linda Dyett in an article for Prevention magazine, idebenone is viewed as a super-antioxidant. A variant of Coenzyme Q10, idebenone might actually be more powerful than its chemical cousin. For instance, Coenzyme Q10 is open to oxidization, which actually creates harmful free radicals. Idebenone doesn't do this, giving it an advantage. Smart SkinCare's Dr. Todorov -- biologist and cell researcher -- also notes that idebenone might fight off free radicals better than Coenzyme Q10. However, he adds that studies directly comparing Coenzyme Q10 and idebenone as skin treatments are needed. According to Dr. Kunin, specific tests that measure an antioxidant's efficiency have suggested idebenone's superiority over other antioxidants, including Coenzyme Q10, vitamin E and C and kinetin.

Currently, both idebenol and idebenone are included separately in various anti-aging creams. You might want to talk with your dermatologist about the best formula for a particular skin type's needs.

Hives
Http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=559 (http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=559)
Hives is a skin condition, often brought on by an allergic reaction, that can manifest in several ways. Sometimes called Urticaria, this skin condition is characterized by the spontaneous development of small, localized reddish or itchy marks, called whelps or wheals, to a full-blown rash that covers the entire body. The marks may appear anywhere on the body, including, including hands, feet and even the tongue and typically, hives last on the skin for as little as a few hours, or up to several days, depending upon the severity of the reaction. If the allergic reaction is particularly aggressive, some cases of urticaria may persist intermittently for several months, and these types of hives are called chronic urticaria.

Vitamin A: Retinoids
Http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=552 (http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=552)
Derivatives of vitamin A, retinoids are found in a bevy of products and treat many skincare concerns and conditions. Specifically, as an effective acne treatment, retinoids slow the growth of cells inside the hair follicles, preventing these cells from clogging pores, which can contribute to acne. Retinoids also boast anti-inflammatory effects. Plus, topical retinoid treatments have many anti-aging benefits.

In the 'Tween of Things

While acne or dry, flaky skin may not seem like anything that should worry a 10-year old, these skin conditions are quickly becoming the domain of young children. Because young teenagers are still facing some of their most formative growing years, approaching skincare for this age group must be thoughtful and carefully selected. Before skin problems such as acne or dryness have a chance to impact on a young child's skin, take control of them with smart, caring skincare geared towards young skin.

Is a night-time skincare routine really necessary? Isn't splashing water on the face enough? A basic night-time skincare routine combined with some quality shut-eye can really do wonders for the skin. A few simple steps are all that are needed for a nightly facial skincare routine. Don't think of a night-time routine as an extra chore, but rather as a series of steps to pamper the skin and keep it healthy.
