ARLINGTON, VA (PRWEB) December 26, 2003

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today that Mr. Greg Lee, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Sears, will sign a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve on December 31, 2003 in Pasadena, California.

According to Bob Hollingsworth, ESGR Executive Director, Sears joins a cadre of Fortune 500 companies and thousands of America’s employers in demonstrating support for our troops. “A Statement of Support serves two very vital functions; first, it demonstrates the strong level of support for our Guard and Reserve, which is important during this critical time. Secondly, it sends a clear message to the service members that while they’re serving their country, they do not have to worry about their civilian jobs.”

Sears has long supported its full-time employees called to active duty by extending military pay deferential and health benefits for up to 30 months and holding a comparable position for these individuals for up to five years. In addition, Sears Logistic Services is a charter member of the Army Spouse Employment Partnership established to help ensure Army spouses are afforded employment opportunities and sustain their careers. Also, Sears Logistics Services and Sears Auto Service Centers are members of the U. S. ArmyÂ’s Partnership for Youth Success program, a recruiting initiative offering soldiers resources for finding quality employment after serving their initial enlistment in the Army.

ESGR is a Department of Defence agency whose mission is to gain and maintain employer support from all public and private employers for the men and women who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
