Enterprise Systems to Record Handwritten Digital Input

Research Triangle Park, NC - How does an enterprise system “remember” your on-the-run jottings and ensure accurate data capture? By combining the power of the new Logitech® io™ Personal Digital Pen from Logitech (Nasdaq: LOGI) and the Mi-Co software system for data capture, data validation and data transmission to support enterprise applications.

This announcement of Mi-Co’s support of the Logitech® io™ Personal Digital Pen was made at the First Annual Anoto Developer’s Conference, which was held in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mi-Co is one of the few software companies in the world that focuses on electronic ink processing and handwriting recognition for enterprise applications. As such, it is uniquely positioned as the leading independent software vendor for handwriting capture devices, now and in the future.

Headquartered in Research Triangle Park, Mi-Co is the maker of electronic data capture technology that enables users to digitally capture, on a number of devices, any information that is handwritten. The leading edge Mi-Forms software used in other handwriting-recognition applications can now be used with the latest in digital writing technology from Logitech.

With the Logitech io pen, users can easily share, store, organize and retrieve their handwritten information by simply writing with ink on paper as people have for thousands of years. Using an optical sensor embedded in its tip, the pen captures the handwritten images. This captured digital information can then be transferred into the PC by synching the pen via a USB cradle. For added value and increased data integrity, as these files are transferred to the PC, they can be processed through the business rules for data integrity built into the Mi-Forms Software System from Mi-Co.

"The Logitech io Digital PenÂ’s ability to seamlessly merge the world of pen and paper with the digital world of personal computing is opening opportunities for Logitech in the enterprise space," said Chris Bull Director of Marketing for the Logitech io Digital Pen." Collaborations such as this one with Mi-Co are unveiling new methods to capture, collect and disseminate handwritten data.

“There are a number of key business applications in our target markets that will be an excellent match for the combined power of the Logitech io Personal Digital Pen and the Mi-Co Software system—specifically designed for enterprise data capture, processing for accuracy and the subsequent transmittal to on-line databases,” said Barrett Joyner, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mi-Co. “For example, mobile data capture by home health care professionals interviewing clients in the patients’ homes is an excellent application. Often, this type of data capture is being done with pen and paper—and Logitech and Mi-Co take the benefits of paper and pen and combine those benefits with the benefits of electronic data capture and digital storage. This is truly a winning combination.”
