The federal government established Health Savings Accounts/HSAs as part of the “Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003”, and on December 21, Governor Codey signed into law S-2574 / A-4543, which provides for the establishment of HSAs in the State of New Jersey. HSAs were created to allow employers and individuals to contribute tax-free to savings accounts that are then used to pay for routine medical expenses.
