Dr. Mark Sanders’ love of medicine runs a close race with his love of sports – each inspiring the other. He has learned over the years how to help athletes avoid injury through proper training and find the fastest way back to their sport when a serious injury does occur. Working with such elite athletes as St. Louis Rams’ Kevin Garrett and former motocross professional Sean Kirby, he continues to raise the bar in medical achievements.

“I want to see my guys back in the game or next competition, not in my office. Once I give them the tools to work through an injury, their desire to get back to their sport gets them the rest of the way. And that’s the key to the success of our Accelerated Rehabilitation program,” said Dr. Mark Sanders.

“When you combine this ‘can do’ attitude with the real possibility that an ACL Reconstruction or Rotator Cuff repair doesn’t have to bench you for anymore than a handful of strength-building weeks, then you’re over half way there,” he added.

Dr. Sanders opened the Sanders Clinic for Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Twelve Oaks Medical Center just over a year ago and today works with athletes from across the United States and Mexico. Specializing in knee and shoulder instability problems, his reconditioning program and healthful whole-body approach to addressing an injury is yielding astounding results and raising eyebrows within the medical profession.

“I’ve learned a lot about what to do to my body, from knowing Dr. Sanders and his trainers over the last few years. They didn’t want me to change what I was doing – just strengthen the muscles I needed to do them with,” said former New York Mets baseball player Darryl Hamilton.

“People hear so much about what modern technology can do that they think surgery will make it better. But, it’s not always the best thing,” added Hamilton.

Dr. Sanders is the official healthcare provider for the Houston THQ Supercross and serves as the “Sports Doc” moderator on a number of online sports forums – helping young athletes understand how some serious injuries can be avoided and the best way to address them when they happen.

H Texas magazine listed Dr. Sanders again this year among one of Houston’s Top Docs and Texas CitySports magazine runs a periodic advice column, Ask the Sports Doctor, addressing common questions Dr. Sanders receives.
