Leading University Hospital Embraces the SRC WinScribe Digital Dictation and Document Creation Platform

SRC to roll out a document creation solution to more than 750 users at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. SRC will deploy a platform to streamline dictation and transcription processes.

London (PRWEB) February 25, 2009

SRC, the leading provider of digital dictation and speech recognition to NHS Trusts, has been awarded the contract to roll out a document creation solution to more than 750 users at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

The SRC solution will revolutionise the way dictation and transcription takes place by providing a single core platform for all dictation and transcription activities across the Trust, as well as providing integrated access to outsourced transcription services.

The SRC WinScribe system will automatically prioritise and distribute dictations to the most relevant transcriptionist, taking full account of workloads, staff availability and the urgency of each document. The latest workflow enhancements will reduce document turnaround times of work by automatically directing dictations to available transcription resource, whether that is internal typists or third party transcription providers. The Trust is already successfully utilising the services of outsourced transcription providers and SRC will deploy the SRC Outsource Manager module to enable this work to be monitored and managed from within the SRC solution in exactly the same manner as work that is transcribed internally.

Linda Mennell, Digital Dictation Programme Manager at University Hospitals Birmingham said: "When we investigated dictation solutions we wanted more than just a tape replacement. We wanted a solution that was easy to use within the complex environment of a large, modern hospital and that would provide major improvements in the efficiency and management of the dictation and transcription processes."

As well as providing a complete integrated solution, SRC will also provide a range of implementation, customisation, training and support services in order to support the successful introduction and on-going support of the system.

Chris Hart, CEO SRC, added: "This is another exciting project, which reinforces our lead position in the healthcare market. We are particularly pleased to be working with an innovative and advanced Trust such as University Hospitals Birmingham."

As well as providing numerous departmental roll outs of digital dictation, SRC has been awarded contracts for the deployment of Trust wide digital dictation solutions throughout ten English NHS Trusts. Recent roll outs include Ealing Hospitals, Taunton and Somerset Hospitals and University Hospital Leicester. Many of these Trusts are already benefiting from the solutions which SRC have provided, with many reporting significant savings, for example on agency costs, as well as substantial reductions in document turnaround times.
