Day Of Global Peace And Self - Healing On the Anniversary Of the Bam Earthquake Of 2003

On behalf of the children of the victims of the Bam earthquake and in celebration of their lives, Dr. Sonia Gaemi of Women for Cultural Wisdom and affiliated women’s and children organizations, in cooperation with the United Nations and the Appadana International Satellite Television Network, are officially declaring December 26 as the day of "Global Peace and Self Healing" and naming Bam a “Land of Peace and Self Healing”.

(PRWEB) December 25, 2004

On this day Appadana International TV will sponsor Dr. Sonia Gaemi, producer of the TV program "The Art of Self Healing with Dr. Sonia”, who will present 10 hours of special programming focusing on Bam, the children of Bam, and all that has been done and needs to be done so that healing takes place in their lives. The program will present programs and events conducted around the world to commemorate that day, including Qigong demonstrations by the children of Bam. They will come to Appadana by telephone for live interviews and comments. The viewing public will learn what has been done so far to help heal and bring self-confidence to people who have suffered so enormously. The programs for the day include a candlelight walking meditation by the children to the cemetery in Bam, children’s meditation and tree planting in the Melat Park in Tehran, and other children’s ceremonies throughout the world. Presentations on the history of the Erg E Bam Citadel, a historical monument, and of the Silk Road, which was the means of “dialogue among civilizations”, will also be a part of the program.

This is a day not only to celebrate renewal and life in Bam but also to appreciate the kindness and generosity of Iranians and the people of over 50 nations who offered help and support. Messages of peace from world leaders including the Dali Lama, Deepak Chopra, former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn, International Poet Laureate of Peace Dr. Mary Rudge, Dr. Susan Zipp, Advisor to the Communications Coordination Committee for the United Nations, and speakers from United Nations Peoples Assembly and Women for Cultural Wisdom will be broadcasted as received. Musicians, artists and poets of all beliefs with messages of peace and self-healing from cultures along the Silk Road are invited to share their talents.

Dr. Sonia, a registered dietitian with a residency at UC Berkeley, appears weekly on her TV show, one of the most popular programs among the Farsi-speaking populations of the world. She is called "Mother Sonia" by the children of Bam and is remembered for helping lead people toward health through her teachings of Chinese Medical Qigong, energy-enhancing exercises, teas, and messages of self-healing through integrated nutritional medicine and eating hormonally. She has been a tireless proponent of global peace, tranquility, and compassion. On the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, she organized a conference entitled “Women’s Body-Mind-Health” and was called an "amazing woman". In Dr. Sonia’s interview with Dr. Ramu Damodaran, editor in chief of the UN Chronicle, he said that the humanitarian focus of the United Nations should be on the prevention of illness and on self-healing, and agreed to the U. N. collaboration in declaring December 26 as the day of "Global Peace and Self Healing" and naming Bam a “Land of Peace and Self Healing”.

Children in other parts of the world can unite with the children of Bam by sending videos of their Walking Meditation, and everyone is invited to plant seeds to symbolize hope and solidarity. On December 25 & 26 fund raising for Bam will take place during the program. Proceedings will be sent for the children of Bam for the Persian New Year celebration. Artists, musicians, historians, and organizations are invited to participate or send videos, pictures or any documents relating to Bam to be used on television and to share their spirit with the people of Bam.
