New Web Site on Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Asks: “Does Providence Care?”

A new Web site launched today by the nurses and other health care professionals at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, with support from Service Employees International Union Locals 121RN and 399, is giving Burbank-area residents new information about their local community hospital.

Los Angeles, CA – A new Web site launched today by the nurses and other health care professionals at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, with support from Service Employees International Union Locals 121RN and 399, is giving Burbank-area residents new information about their local community hospital.

“We love our patients, and we’re proud of the work we do—that’s why we work at Saint Joseph,” said Therese Brummel, a registered nurse at Saint Joseph. “But we’re concerned about how Providence sets its priorities. We’re trying to make sure the focus is on patient care. Patients and the community should know.”

The Web site and regular e-mail newsletter will provide consumers and the entire community with the latest news on Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Calif. The service, developed and distributed by Providence Saint Joseph employees and their union, SEIU Locals 121RN and 399, is independent of Providence Health System.

Information at DoesProvidenceCare. org will include:

• Detailed information on the choices made by hospital management in spending health care dollars this non-profit institution receives from consumers, insurers, government agencies, and charitable donors.

• An honest and complete view of health care at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, from the viewpoint of nurses and other health care employees who work there every day.

• The latest news on Providence Saint Joseph.
