Movie Magic Stirs Up Hunger for Home Cooking, Says Meal Planning Central

Movie Magic Stirs Up Hunger for Home Cooking, Says Meal Planning Central

Pixar's Parisian Rat fuels growing culinary trend for families.

Milford, IL (PRWEB) November 8, 2007

The "anyone can cook" message in Pixar's latest animation, Ratatouille, has been resonating with families across the country since its DVD release this past week. The film's focus on the pleasures of cooking and eating comfort food has helped illuminate a growing trend towards family cooking. Parents and children alike, agree that the movie certainly sparks the desire to explore cooking as a tastier and healthier choice. However, once the screen fades to black and reality encroaches, it can be difficult to maintain the momentum to follow through with movie theatre promises. Christine Steendahl, of Meal Planning Central believes that there are ways to bridge the gap between fantasy and reality and eat more meals at home despite the busyness of modern family life.

"The reality is that thousands of families pick up dinner at a fast food drive through or call for pizza delivery instead of preparing a home-cooked meal," says Steendahl, "Cooking at home is perceived to be difficult and time consuming, but there are ways to make it as quick and easy as take out."

According to Steendahl, the bulk of time attributed to cooking is actually spent in the planning stages. It's the lack of time that can be spent sitting down and figuring out what to cook and finding family friendly recipes that causes most parents to falter in their desires to provide healthy, home cooked meals for their loved ones. Reducing or eliminating the need to plan will increase the number of meals eaten at home.

"Services like those I provide at Menu Planning Central can eliminate the need to plan," explains Steendahl, "and allow parents to put their goal of healthy, family dinners into immediate action."

"This is just what my family needed", agrees Susanne Myers. "Our four-year-old daughter is enjoying the family-friendly meals and I'm even able to sneak in the occasional piece of steamed fish and of course lots of veggies. I'm feeling like a much better mom feeding her a balanced meal instead of heating up some frozen chicken nuggets and calling it dinner."
