Jed A. Kwartler, M. D., otologist/neurotologist with Summit Medical Group, has been named to the editorial board of Otology/Neurotology.

Jed A. Kwartler, M. D., otologist/neurotologist with Summit Medical Group, has been named to the editorial board of Otology/Neurotology. The official journal of the American Otological Society and a top-tier peer-reviewed publication, Otology & Neurotology publishes original research-based articles for physicians on disorders and diseases of the ear, facial nerve, and cranial base surgery. Special features include a clinical forum to discuss controversial patient management issues, brief communications on emerging technology and technical surgical issues, historical issues, occasional state-of-the-art reviews, and topics of current interest.

Recognized as a leading ear surgeon in the New York metropolitan area, Dr. Kwartler performed New Jersey's first cochlear implant in a child in 1993. He is an advocate for adults and children who are hard of hearing and he supports hearing testing for newborns. In addition to his positon at Summit Medical Group, he is Clinical Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.

A sought-after speaker, Dr. Kwartler has delivered local, national, and international invited presentations and taught courses concerning acoustic neuroma surgery, age-related hearing loss, hearing loss prevention, hearing rehabilitation, and the latest surgical treatments for profoundly deaf children and adults. He serves on international panels that evaluate the latest implantable and semi-implantable hearing devices. He also is integral in helping develop novel medical and surgical treatments for common ear problems.

Past President of the New Jersey Academy of Otolaryngology, Dr. Kwartler is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, New Jersey State Hearing Evaluation Council, North American Skull Base Surgery Society, American Neurotology Society, and New Jersey Speech, Language, and Hearing Association. He has been an advisor to the organization, Hearing Education Awareness for Rockers (HEAR).

Dr. Kwartler is the recipient of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Certificate of Honor. He is the only New Jersey otologist included in New York magazine's "Best Doctors in New York" and he is listed in Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area," and Castle Connolly's "America's Top Doctors."
