Chicago's own high-profile Power Mom, Beth Aldrich, is featured in Jack Canfield's latest book, "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power Moms," which features 101 essays from amazing women. Beth's emotional essay takes us to a place we've all been: at the brink of losing it all only to find she's gained much more: the support and love of her family.

When publisher of Chicago's For Her Information magazine, Beth Aldrich, discovered that her essay was set to appear in Jack Canfield's "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power Moms," she was excited. But when she found out that leading women like Liz Lange (maternity clothing designer), Jillian Barberie-Reynolds (co-host of Good Day LA) and Jodi Picoult (best-selling novelist) also would have published essays in the book, she was overjoyed.

"Being among the company of such powerful moms has made me realize that, at the end of the day, all moms from all walks of life find being a Power Mom joyful, rewarding and challenging!" says Aldrich.

In Aldrich's emotional essay, "It Happened in an Instant," she describes how it took a near-fatal collision to remind her about the importance of family. She writes, "What that accident on the snowy January day gave me was a sharp reminder that by simply loving and being with your kids, you are a Super Mom. Regardless of how many plates you keep spinning in the air, your children will love you for just being you, for being there, not somewhere else."

"Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power Moms," (Simon & Schuster 2009) contains 101 essays written by "Power Moms" across the country, including essays from New York Times best-selling author Jane Green, Mary Himes, wife of Congressman Jim Himes, and Lynne Spears, Britney Spears' mother. The book is edited by Wendy Walker, the author of "Four Wives" and "The Queen of Suburbia."

The book will be available for purchase on Amazon. com and local bookstores starting March 24.
