Two Rising African-American Entrepreneurs Venture Into The Christian Retailing Business
Adelphos Holdings LLC has agreed to purchase Moody Bookstore, located on Chicago's south side. The purchase marks the first foray by Adelphos into the Christian retail marketplace. Adelphos Holdings LLC has agreed to purchase Moody Bookstore, located at 112 W. 87th Street, on Chicago's south side. The purchase marks the first foray by Adelphos into the Christian retail marketplace and provides the company with a bricks-and-mortar beachhead to complement their online presence. Adelphos Holdings LLC is an African American-owned company that currently operates The Adelphos Publishing Group LLC and Adelphos Advisory Services.
Adelphos co-founders Cliff Goins IV and Shundrawn A. Thomas are entrepreneurs as well as ministers of the gospel. Chicago natives with MBAs from prestigious Chicago area graduate schools; between them they have held positions with American Express Financial Advisors, Holland Capital Management, L. P., Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Goldman Sachs & Co. The two are most recognized for the faith-based Economic Empowerment Series, "Stop Digging! and Start Planting!", they authored. In the series Goins and Thomas merge faith and finances to produce a revolutionary approach to achieving financial freedom.
