Monterey, CA (Vocus) September 16, 2010

beBLUU (http://bebluu. com/)™ filtered water bottles is launching the beBLUU™ Challenge (http://www. bebluu. com/blueocean) to raise funds for the BLUE Ocean Film Festival and Conservation Summit. beBLUU™ was also a sponsor for the event held in Monterey last month.

Now through November 30, 2010, beBLUU™ will donate three-dollars from each bottle sold as part of this fundraising effort to the BLUE Ocean Film Festival (http://www. BLUEOceanFilmFestival. org) and Conservation Summit’s non-profit organization. The goal is to raise twenty-thousand dollars for the BLUE non-profit to fund BLUE on Tour’s ongoing outreach and to raise awareness of marine conservation issues. BLUE on Tour, BLUE’s traveling film festival, has locations in more than three continents eager to host a tour visit and help spread awareness.

At beBLUU™, we love the taste of pure, fresh, bottled water, but not what plastics are doing to our environment – particularly the oceans. Bottled water is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to introducing plastic debris into the oceans. Many plastic water bottles are known to carry the risk of leaching BPA as well as DEHA and DEHP into the drinking water. Most water bottles on the market in the U. S. are manufactured overseas and imported, resulting in an even larger carbon footprint. Stainless steel water bottles are resource intensive to create and challenging to recycle, and aluminum bottles carry potential health risks. Fortunately, not all water bottles are created equal.

The beBLUU™ water bottle is designed to be better for people and the planet. Manufactured in North America, 100% recyclable, and made with FDA approved food and medical grade resin, it is BPA, DEHA and DEHP free. The built-in, replaceable filter provides fresh tasting, pure drinking water from the tap. A single replaceable filter lasts for 75 to 125 uses – the equivalent of more than 9 cases of bottled water.

The beBLUU™ company is designed to be better for the planet too. beBLUU™ will donate three dollars from each bottle sold to one of our partner non-profit organizations working on marine conservation, ocean health and drinking water issues. BLUE Ocean Film Festival and Conservation Summit is the first recipient of The beBLUU™ company. Stay tuned to the beBLUU™ website for updates on additional non-profits and initiatives as they are added, purchase a bottle and choose where your donation goes.

The BLUE Ocean Film Festival & Conservation Summit is an international festival and conservation event that brings together filmmakers, underwater photographers, marine scientists and conservationists, film industry leaders and the public to inspire, raise awareness of the condition of our oceans and to provide a forum to seek solutions.
