Giving Can Be Delicious -- Tickets for the Feb. 6 Bay View Community Center Benefit Wine Tasting Are Now On Sale

The benefit, which is sponsored by the Forest County Potawatomi Foundation, will be held at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino's elegant new Woodland Dreams Ballroom. Proceeds from the event will be used to support Bay View Community Center programs focused on strengthening families and developing individuals.

Tickets for the Saturday, Feb. 6, 7-10 p. m. Bay View Community Center wine tasting are now on sale. The benefit, which is sponsored by the Forest County Potawatomi Foundation, will be held at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino's elegant new Woodland Dreams Ballroom, 1721 W. Canal St., in Milwaukee.

Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. The tickets may be purchased by phone, mail or in person (credit cards accepted) at the Bay View Community Center, (414) 482-1000, 1320 E. Oklahoma Ave, Milwaukee.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support Bay View Community Center programs focused on strengthening families and developing individuals. Linda Nieft, CEO for the nonprofit organization, says, "The economic downturn has greatly increased the need for our programs. Funds raised from this fun event will be used to continue, and hopefully expand, our services to people of all ages in our community. Just in the last year more than 4,799 individuals from 1,779 families received assistance from our Emergency Food Pantry. Last year the Center served 2,784 program participants with a total attendance of 17,024 at programs."

In addition to more than 40 quality-crafted wines (selected by local wine aficionado and national wine supplier Tom Vaughan) and light hors d'oeurvres, a silent auction featuring items donated by generous companies and individuals will be featured. Items for bid include:

As a bonus, the Potawatomi Bingo Casino, known throughout the Midwest for its great restaurants, is offering ticket holders 15 percent off dining in any of its restaurants before the event.

For more than 30 years, the Bay View Community Center, in partnership with United Way of Greater Milwaukee, has helped to improve the lives of individuals and families in southeastern Wisconsin by providing programs focusing on life skills, health and wellness, food and nutrition, support groups for individuals with special needs, recreation/fitness and educational trips and tours.
