National Strength and Conditioning Association Symposium provides hands-on instruction

(PRWEB) May 21, 2004

Have you ever been to an educational session where you feel yourself slipping into a mild coma? As the speaker drones on, you are held captive in the classroom. Continuing education is extremely important for fitness professionals, but more often than not, the material is mind numbing.

The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is changing the age-old approach to continuing education with its Lifting for Power Symposium, June 11-12, 2004 at the newly opened NSCA World Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“Those who attend this symposium will not only get classroom style lectures on power development, but (within the same facility) will gain hands-on experience to help teach their athletes and clients,” stated Michael Barnes, CSCS, *D, NSCA-CPT, Director of Education for the NSCA. “They’ll hopefully be able to take what they’ve learned and apply it right away because they’ve actually performed the exercises first hand.”

The NSCA symposium is taught by a group of seven strength and conditioning experts, from across the country, who practice what they preach. Each presenter brings years of experience and helpful hints on training athletes, clients, and patients. During the two-day clinic, attendees will learn the scientific basis and rationale for strength and conditioning, focusing specifically on power training and its application to various sports, and how to teach proper lifting technique for barbell and dumbbell Olympic exercises.

This practical hands-on course, sponsored in part by M-F Athletic—Perform Better, allows attendees to gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of power training. Be prepared to break a sweat—you’ll be lifting more than just your pencil.
