Berkeley Heights, NJ (Vocus) October 17, 2010

During Medical Assistants Recognition Week, October 18-22, 2010, and throughout the year, Summit Medical Group supports, celebrates, and recognizes the significant impact medical assistants (MAs) have on patients and in health care overall. Medical assistants across the country will be recognized during this special week.

Medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures. With their unique versatility, medical assistants are proving to be the allied health professional of choice for this decade and beyond. Physicians value this unique versatility more and more, as managed care compels them to contain costs and manage human resources efficiently. Not surprisingly, the demand for medical assistants is expanding rapidly. In fact, according to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be projected as one of the fastest growing occupations.

MAs are certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certifying Board that awards the prestigious CMA (AAMA) credential to graduates of CAAHEP - or ABHES-accredited medical assisting programs who have successfully completed the CMA (AAMA) Certification Examination. The examination is administered by the highly respected National Board of Medical Examiners.
