Ipedo Chosen by Sun to Streamline Customer Service Operations

Ipedo Enterprise Information Integration (EII) Platform Will Enable Real-Time Collection of System Statistics to Lower Risk and Reduce Operating Costs

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (PRWEB) July 18, 2005

Ipedo, a leading provider of enterprise information integration software, today announced that Sun Microsystems, Inc. has selected Ipedo as a key component of its new Sun Connection service.

Sun will use IpedoÂ’s software to integrate information from distributed systems and manage an extensive knowledge base that includes configuration information from more than one million systems. Ipedo will enable the system to provide informed recommendations to customers and SunÂ’s support team about relevant updates based on individual assessments of risk.

Sun Connection continuously benchmarks information technology (IT) health and performance and lets customers save time, money and resources by providing them real-time access to sophisticated remote servicing and predictive diagnostic services, availability status, software updates and other features.

"Ipedo provides a key enabling technology that lets us deliver IT as a service,” said Mike Harding, VP of Consumer Network Services. “Their ability to integrate large and complex volumes of disparate data in near-real time allows us to leverage Sun Grid and other Sun technologies to automate business processes and lower risk, resulting in reduced operating costs for our customers.”

Sun will use Ipedo to query system configurations and a rules engine to determine the proper service and diagnostics required for individual systems. IpedoÂ’s unique Dual-Core query engine allows Sun to use a flexible data model combining XML messages, Web Services, databases and other information sources. By putting all this information in a single application, Ipedo enables customers to self-manage their IT environment.

“We are very pleased to be working with Sun on this visionary IT services business model,” said Nick Zhang, CEO of Ipedo. “There was a great synergy between Ipedo’s flexible data integration capabilities and Sun’s complex information processing needs.”

Ipedo XIP leverages SQL and XQuery to integrate and manage information from disparate, complex data sources to enable real-time business decisions. Ipedo's novel approach treats existing corporate databases and external data flows as a single, virtual data source. This allows users to gain customized access to the information they need, in a context that makes sense, all while leveraging existing IT investments.
