Ellumen is engaged in an effort to provide comprehensive O&M support for two of the primary DoD Health Systems. Arlington, VA (PRWEB) May 19, 2010

Ellumen Inc., a leading provider of healthcare information technology to the federal government announced today it will support a newly awarded task order with the Department of Defense (DoD) Military Health System (MHS).

The task order was awarded under the MHS D/SIDDOMS 3 Contract through Ellumen's team partner Vangent, and covers comprehensive operations, maintenance, and implementation support for the Clinical Data Repository/ Health Data Repository (CHDR), the Bidirectional Health Information Exchange-Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (BHIE-AHTLA), and the Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER.)
CHDR provides the capability to exchange patient records between the DoD CDR and VA HDR, which are used by each agency's native health care system to seamlessly perform health care functions.

BHIE-AHLTA provides the interface and web services that interact with the BHIE framework to access and provide clinical data from the AHLTA Clinical Data Repository.

VLER was created by President Barack Obama in 2009 to offer a seamless lifetime electronic medical record for all service members from active duty through retirement. The system will use groundbreaking NHIN standards and functionality to integrate HIE systems in the DoD, VA, and private sector.

"Our experience with critical health information sharing initiatives, especially between MHS and the VA, coupled with our knowledge of these systems and proven support for the interagency BHIE infrastructure provides the foundation for robust sustainment and implementation of these systems," says John Leslie, Ellumen CTO.

This new contract extends Ellumen's scope of influence within the federal HIE area. "Our mature operational support and technical expertise allows our team to offer the best value to the government," adds Mike Luby, Ellumen COO.

Ellumen is currently engaged in an effort to provide comprehensive O&M support for two of the primary DoD Health Systems, as well as O&M, implementation, and training support for the revolutionary VLER Health Initiative.
