In a world of promised quick fixes and diet fads, one little program has been delivering consistently remarkable results. Body Mind Restoration Retreats, located on the picturesque 60-acre grounds of the Ithaca Zen Center, began in 1993 with one 12-day retreat hosting eight participants. Since its humble beginning, the center has been growing in reputation and popularity and currently hosts seven retreat programs with over 300 in attendance.

“Common symptoms such as excess weight, fatigue or anxiety are indicators that the body is out of balance and the mind is not at ease,” says program founder Marcia Radin. “Our retreats are designed to efficiently cleanse the body of toxic accumulations while providing complete and easy-to-assimilate nutrition.”

Marcia Radin, a long-time Ithaca area resident, studied the raw foods protocol with Ann Wigmore and continued on to receive a Master’s Degree with a concentration in complementary medicine. The retreat program she designed consists of an all raw food diet, including wheat grass and vegetable juices, exercise, yoga, colon care, meditation (including instruction), swimming, saunas and classes on healthy lifestyles.

“This is not a spa experience,” adds Radin, “it is a comprehensive program that introduces a way of living that leads to sustainable weight loss and good health. The combination of a living foods diet, exercise, colon care, health education classes, yoga, meditation and more allow a deep experience of well being that can not be found elsewhere.”

The retreats have helped thousands of people maintain good health and assisted their healing from a wide range of chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, autoimmune problems, chronic fatigue, migraines, weight issues and more. Several medical clinics now refer their patients to the retreats to recover from chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
