Time Warner Cable Brings the 2010 Shades of Our Community Tour to Star Fair of Texas

This interactive exhibit combines Turner’s brands and programming with music, activities for adults and children, and plenty of giveaways.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 24, 2010

Cartoon Network, CNN, TBS, and TNT join Time Warner Cable to present the Shades of Our Community tour to Dallas at the State Fair of Texas, at the Fair Park, 1335 Admiral Nimiral Nimitz Circle, on Saturday, September 25 from 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM. This community outreach combines Turner’s brands and programming with music, activities for adults and children, and plenty of giveaways. In addition, Time Warner Cable is donating $1,000 to a local charity to further assist in the needs of the community.

“The Turner portfolio is a highly diverse lineup of top brands and content. The Shades of Our Community Tour packages some of our top performers into a really fun atmosphere where people of all backgrounds and interests can connect with some of the best programming on TV,” said Gary Brockman, vice president of 360 network marketing and brand operations, Turner Network Sales. “This also gives Time Warner Cable the opportunity to directly connect with our loyal fans.”

Central to all the fun is a dance floor, DJ and emcee to host the festivities as attendees enjoy continuous music, dancing, contests and prizes. Themed activities will feature high-profile Turner properties, including ALMIGHTY DEBT: A BLACK IN AMERICA SPECIAL (from CNN), Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS and Tyler Perry’s HOUSE OF PAYNE (from TBS), HAWTHORNE (from TNT), and Scooby-Doo and TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR (from Cartoon Network).

Cartoon Network’s Total Drama World Tour tent will offer a recording studio for people of all ages to ‘show off their victory dance’ in an animated flipbook. The recordings will be captured and printed on site into a flipbook souvenir. TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR is an animated comedy for kids 6-14 that takes audiences to all the best and most familiar moments of reality TV shows. From the creators of Total Drama Island and Total Drama Action, TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR airs on Cartoon Network on Mondays at 9 p. m. (ET/PT). Also, from 12 NOON – 5:00 PM, attendees may meet Scooby-Doo, the lovable star of Cartoon Network’s all-new animated series, Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated.

CNN’s Almighty Debt: A Black in America Special tent will feature a family portrait studio offering complimentary photos taken at the event by a professional photographer. Photos will be printed on site and made available online to download and share with family and friends. ALMIGHTY DEBT: A BLACK IN AMERICA SPECIAL is an event documentary and town hall discussion, and explores how the challenges presented by financial debt and the national economic crisis are being addressed within Black faith communities. The Black church is an institution central to African-American communities for generations. In the midst of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, African-American communities have been among the worst affected. Anchor and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien introduces viewers to Rev. Dr. DeForest ‘Buster’ Soaries, senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (Somerset, N. J.), who believes ‘debt is the new slavery’ and follows him as he tries to fight debt from his pulpit. ALMIGHTY DEBT: A BLACK IN AMERICA SPECIAL premieres Oct. 21 on CNN.

TBS’s Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns tent will offer a make-your-own-button booth. Each attendee will wear home a personalized photo button. Both shows reflect Tyler Perry’s gift for delivering inspirational and uplifting-yet-funny stories with identifiable, relatable characters. Also, giveaways will be distributed to promote ARE WE THERE YET?, the new series from TBS and executive producer Ice Cube. ARE WE THERE YET? stars Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Essence Atkins (Half and Half) as Nick and Suzanne, a newly married couple whose blended family faces the challenges of everyday life.

TNT’s HawthoRNe tent will create the ultimate waiting room experience, with free chair massages given by certified massage therapists, and a “weighting” area offering giveaways and information to educate attendees on weight management and healthy lifestyle choices. The TNT medical drama HAWTHORNE stars Jada Pinkett Smith as a strong but caring director of nursing.
