Current Issues in Clinical Lactation 2002 includes patients' perceptions of providers' views on breastfeeding, inadequate screening of the mother for alcohol consumption, prematurity, and the effects of a non-supportive culture are explored.

In its first edition last year, Current Issues in Clinical Lactation 2000 was called “brilliant” and “exceptional” in a review published by the Journal of Human Lactation (Vol. 17, Iss. 2, p. 170, ã 2001). Reviewer Heather Chase, RN, IBCLC, wrote, “Current Issues in Clinical Lactation will no doubt contribute to the increase in knowledge and expertise of the lactation clinicians. My only regret is that it will come out only once a year.” This yearÂ’s collection of articles will surely continue this legacy of brilliance.

Kathleen G. Auerbach, PhD, IBCLC, maintains a private practice in lactation consulting at The Parent Center in Ferndale, Washington. She is co-author with Jan Riordan of Breastfeeding and Human Lactation (now in its second edition) and its three accompanying titles.
