Gary Henkin, president of WTS International, one of the most diverse international leisure firms in the world, has partnered with hotel industry innovator, Steven Marx to launch Lifestyle Hospitality. Henkin will utilize his vast spa industry experience to help introduce Lifestyle Hospitality’s unique hybrid of the 4-diamond "lifestyle" hotel product and the spa/wellness/fitness destination experience. Henkin will continue his role as President at WTS International while launching this newly formed management and development company.
No stranger to the industry, Henkin has successfully anticipated various leisure trends over the last three decades, capitalizing on the tennis, fitness and, more recently, spa markets for his existing company WTS International. Henkin’s expertise in the planning, design and management of spas, fitness facilities and leisure complexes at hotels, resorts, golf and country clubs, and luxury residential properties worldwide, is paramount to this venture.
“We recognized that there is a hole in the marketplace, and we intend to fill that space,” states Henkin. “Our objective is to develop and manage hotels in secondary markets, where mind and body can relax without a disconnect from the first moment of entry continuing through to the experience in the guest rooms and spa facilities.”
Henkin has over 30 years of experience in the planning, design and management of health clubs, spas and athletic facilities of all types. He has also been responsible for coordinating feasibility and needs analysis studies for prospective spa and/or health club properties. His company, WTS International, has grown during the past three decades to become one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing leisure consulting and operating firms. At present, the firm has approximately 1,000 employees and provides its services to hotels, resorts, exclusive golf and country clubs and real estate properties throughout the United States and overseas.
In addition, Henkin has also participated in numerous speaking engagements including addresses to the attendees at B. O.M. A. (Building Owners and Managers Association), I. H.R. S.A. (International Hotel and Racquet Sports Association), Club Managers Association of America and Club Industry national conventions. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in 1966. Presently, Henkin resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife and is active in a number of Washington, D. C. charitable foundations.
