Orphanage Receives Nearly $1 Million from Private Donor

Orphanage Receives Nearly $1 Million from Private Donor

Whole Child International, a nonprofit public charity, received another $300,000 in donations from network marketing icon, Tom Mower, making total contributions an incredible $850,000 to date. This significant act of generosity has ignited a frenzy of contributions by others.

Springville, UT (PRWEB) August 6, 2009

Tom Mower Sr., a renown scientist and extraordinary marketing visionary, grew his multi-level marketing company from nothing into one of the largest health and nutrition organizations of all time. Then, in 2006, he sold it and started over. Now, with over $100 million invested into his new company, SISEL International is destined to become even greater. But that's not all Tom is investing in. Along the way, he's giving back to millions of underprivileged children who spend their childhoods in orphanages and often don't even know their names.

It is a heart-wrenching scene. Throughout the world, millions of children without parents are crammed into underfunded orphanages where caregivers come and go and human contact is brief and impersonal. No names. No eye contact. It is, essentially, life on an assembly line. In fact, many of these children spend 23 ½ hours in a crib with little or no interaction. What will become of them?

Five years ago, Karen Gordon set out to change that. She started a 501(C)(3) public charity called Whole Child International to improve the quality of care and bring basic conditions to a level at which childcare reform can occur. Karen has been featured in major media venues including; Glamour Magazine, NBC TV, Reader's Digest, Good Morning America, and Forbes Magazine.

It was in Forbes Magazine that the story of Whole Child caught the attention of Tom Mower, who had always wanted to do something similar. Tom immediately called Karen to offer help. He thanked Karen for her unselfish humanitarian efforts and instantly donated $250K in 2007, then $300K in 2008, and most recently, $300K in 2009. "For me, it's an opportunity to do something really worthwhile," Mower said. "This is the most valuable charity I've ever seen. I'm impressed with how much money goes straight to the orphans and not to administrative costs."

But what is even more remarkable is that this was only the beginning; other contributors have begun to follow Tom's example. His leadership, generosity, and good will, has now been multiplied exponentially. Since he began donating, Karen has been able to attract contributions from several other corporations and individuals around the world. And a personal invitation by Tom has made it possible for thousands of SISEL customers, distributors, and employees to participate by donating when they purchase SISEL's unique products or through Tom's own charity, Earth Stewardship Foundation.
