In 2004, Medco Health processed approximately 17 million prescription orders through its member website, a 25% increase over 2003.
Medco Health completed its acquisition of Accredo Health in 2005 to move forcefully into the specialty pharmacy market. Medco Health received approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2005 to offer its Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) to the more than 42 million Medicare beneficiaries nationwide.
