WaveBoard for SharePoint E-Mail Discussions Launched

WaveBoard for SharePoint E-Mail Discussions Launched

New product allows users to interact with SharePoint Discussion Boards through any email client

Winchester, VA (PRWEB) August 18, 2009

SusQtech announces the launch of WaveBoard: a new SharePoint add-on. WaveBoard allows individuals and groups using Discussion Boards in SharePoint to send and receive complete postings through an email client.

WaveBoard solves one of the shortcomings of SharePoint's Discussion Board feature: users must log in to the SharePoint site in order to post and read the postings of others. Out of the box, SharePoint does include Alerts which let subscribers know when new content has been posted. The Alerts, however, only include a hyperlink back to the discussion board. The functionality has limited the practical application of the discussion boards for many organizations. With WaveBoard, once a user has chosen to subscribe to the mailing list for a particular discussion board, all activity for that board can take place via email.

The beta version of WaveBoard has been in use by several organizations including the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). AHLA used WaveBoard to replace their existing email forum product. During the month of June, WaveBoard delivered over 1.1 million posted messages, in individual and digest forms, to its members. This volume represents an increase of almost 26% over the average for the previous four months. "AHLA has been able to replace the outside service they were using for their discussion board subscriptions and can now run everything from within SharePoint," says Jen Miller, VP at SusQtech. "It is a real cost savings and their members are very pleased with the new solution," Ms. Miller further stated.

WaveBoard is currently in use on the publicly available on www. TheSUG. org, a site for SharePoint users. In order to test the add-on, visitors must become members of TheSUG then look for discussion boards with an envelope icon in the top right corner. Clicking on the envelope will allow a user to select between immediate delivery of postings, and daily or weekly digests. For more information on WaveBoard contact SusQtech.
