Joanne Gurney Named Administrative Director Perioperative Services at Fox Chase Cancer Center

Joanne Gurney, MSN, RN, has been named administrative director of perioperative services at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Gurney will provide leadership for the operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, same-day surgery, pre-admission testing and central processing.

Joanne Gurney, MSN, RN, has been named administrative director of perioperative services at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Gurney will provide leadership for the operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, same-day surgery, pre-admission testing and central processing.

Before joining Fox Chase, Gurney worked at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital in Malvern, Pa., as administrative director of nursing. She was responsible for implementing and coordinating nursing and clinical ancillary services. She was also a member of senior leadership, patient safety, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Periodic Performance Review committees and quality council.

Prior to working at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, Gurney worked as clinical director of nursing at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., where she managed nursing care in the operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, same-day surgery, pre-admission testing, endoscopy, IV team, acute rehabilitation and maternal and child health. She was also liaison for the Temple bone marrow unit at Jeanes.

Gurney received her BSN and MSN with academic achievement from Villanova University.

A member of the Villanova University Nursing Alumni Society, Gurney was awarded the medallion for distinguished service to the College of Nursing in 1998. She is a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Organization of Nursing Leaders.
