NYC Building Department Protects People From Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Using Wearable Pocket CO Monitors
The New York City Building Department took delivery of 100 Pocket CO monitors to be used by emergency responders and inspectors. These wearable units alarm at high CO levels, and can accurately measure low parts per million levels of carbon monoxide, and determine time weighted average exposures. By using nanotechnology, the full function Pocket CO instrument is small enough to fit on a key chain. Pocket CO is manufactured in California by KWJ Engineering Inc.

In response to a recent steam tunnel event, the Pocket CO was selected to provide Department personnel low parts per million carbon monoxide detection and monitoring of carbon monoxide gas.

All this is packaged in a palm size key-fob weighing less than one ounce. Three alarm points using high decibel buzzer and bright flashing LED are standard in either 5 minute inspection or 8 hour full dosimetry mode."
