Launch Of Al Waab City

Launch Of Al Waab City

Real estate project.

Doha, Qatar (PRWEB) December 20, 2005

Under the auspices of H. E. Sheikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani, president of Nasser Bin Khaled & Sons Group, H. E. Sheikha Hanadi Bint Nasser, Vice CEO of the Group, announced the launch of the impressive Al Waab City development at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Al Waab City, founded on the principle that at the heart of every vibrant community is a public gathering space, will be a community that is integrated into the existing fabric of the city.

The city is a development on an area of more than 1.2 Million square meters that integrates a variety of housing types, small and large scale retail, offices, health facilities, a culture center and a world class hotel.

At the heart of it all is “Barahat Al Waab”; an urban piazza hosting an array of facilities. This will be Doha’s first urban square or piazza, filled with shade structures, water features, formal landscaping and a spectacular sunken garden. “Barahat Al Waab” is accessible to all residents by foot and without crossing any vehicular streets. Animated with outdoor cafes, restaurants, street vendors and a world class hotel, “Barahat Al Waab” will be the center of activity in Al Waab city, a place for public events, concerts and exhibitions.

The modern architectural style of Al Waab offers a novel aesthetic to the face of Doha. Each building is sculpturally refined, finely textured and scripted with an Arabic touch. The materials - light, air, shadow, trees, flowers, metal, stone and glass – are exquisitely integrated into a unified context unequalled in the Gulf region and on par with the best of the world’s urban environments.

Al Waab will set a standard for community design that will surely be emulated for years to come.

Al Waab was designed by Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, Inc. (HOK), a network of 21 offices in four continents that specializes in creating inspiring environments. HOK has a 25-year history in the Middle East, with major projects completed such as Dubai Marina, National Assembly of Kuwait, and they are currently working on Dubai Festival City, Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Doha International Airport and many more in the region and beyond.

The master plan of the city is designed to encourage pedestrian movement throughout the community and will offer a unique parking experience to both the residents and visitors of Al Waab due to the separation and distinction in residents and visitors parking.

The City will also implement environmental design strategies that will help reduce energy consumption without compromising comfort or quality of life. Al Waab is designed on ‘sustainable principles’ and thus consume up to 30% less energy and water. It is in sync with the Government’s awareness programs of our environment.

With the coming of Al Waab City, people of Doha for the first time will have the choice to live in an environment which is virtually self-sufficient in services, amenities, recreation, culture and entertainment.

“When we set out to create Al Waab city, we did so with every intention to create more than just a development; we wanted to build a community with a heart.” said Sheikha Hanadi.

This giant project is widely seen as the natural next step for a Group with such potential as NBKS.

Fifty-five years after its establishment, The Nasser Bin Khaled & Sons Group has achieved more than just astounding commercial success; it has gained the highest level of credibility and trust amongst its clients in Qatar. The best evidence of NBKS’ status is the numerous international alliances with renowned organizations including Mercedes-Benz, Bosch, Michelin and Elf to name but a few.

NBKS has chosen the reputable AMWAL as the project’s financial advisors.

Al Waab City, located 10 km from the Corniche, is composed of over 2,200 residential units, commercial space and a world class 300 room hotel. Although Al Waab will provide housing for over 10,000 people, it boasts the lowest density ratio in any new major development in the country where the statistics have shown it to be half of other development areas. The underground parking area provided is designed to enable the creation for public access and allows for the overall green area to be more than 23% of the total area of the City. In addition, the design provided makes it convenient for those who want to shop in the high end boutiques or take a stroll in the “Barahat Al Waab” or walk in the park.

The unveiling of this project comes at a time of unprecedented economic growth; a result of H. H. The Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s vision and the dedication of The Heir Apparent H. H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

The founders of the project also praised the support of the Urban Planning & Development Authority, represented by Mr. Ali Al-Abdullah, as well as the efforts of Kahramaa and other government authorities which made Al Waab City project possible.
