New York, NY (PRWEB) March 27, 2009

The global work of the National League for Nursing and National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission took a step forward with the assembly of a joint task force, the International Nursing Education Services and Accreditation (INESA). Six leading nurse educators with experience in international health care delivery and policy and nursing education, three each from the NLN and NLNAC, have joined NLN/NLNAC professional staff, board liaisons, and task force co-chairs Dr. Shannon E. Perry, from the NLN and Dr. Linda Samson, from NLNAC, to address issues that affect nurse educators worldwide.

Dr. Sharon Tanner, executive director of NLNAC, said, "We are excited about this wonderful opportunity to share our approach to quality nursing education and use the competencies and expertise of each organization to address the needs of the global nursing education community.

Added NLN CEO Dr. Beverly Malone, "I am so proud of the commitment made by these caring, dedicated professionals to this new global task force, which will facilitate the NLN/NLNAC missions and assist with the work of the ICN Nursing Education Network." Dr. Malone was instrumental in the creation of this new group established within ICN to promote excellence in nursing education across global borders. The network will also strive to advance racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, and gender diversity among nurse faculty and nursing students, preparing a workforce to meet the diverse and evolving health care demands of the 21st century.

The ICN Nursing Education Network, approved by the ICN board last May, is scheduled to have its inaugural meeting this June in Durban, South Africa. Dovetailing with the work of the network, INESA provides leadership in bringing together the community of nurse educators from around the world to address and influence issues related to the quality of nursing education, including accreditation, faculty preparation and development; and the advancement of the science of nursing education.
