Aventine Co., a medical communications agency focused singularly in pain management, appoints new medical director.

Benjamin L. Metzger, MD has been appointed as Medical Director for Aventine Co., a medical communications company singularly focused in pain.

In addition to maintaining a private practice, Dr. Metzger will be involved in developing information, training, and educational activities in his position as Medical Director at Aventine Co., which also produces the national PAINWeek® conference and manages the American Society of Pain Educators (ASPE). As a frontline clinician whose practice needs requires continuing pain management education, he is representative of PAINWeek and ASPE healthcare providers who seek to further their competencies in this increasingly important area of clinical medicine. As Medical Director Dr Metzger will be involved in the development of PAINWeek curriculum, continuing education activities, conducting needs assessments, reviewing guidelines and acting as liaison to with the healthcare provider community and professional societies.

Dr. Metzger received his bachelor of arts from Columbia University and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University. He conducted his postdoctoral training at Lennox Hill Hospital with a residency in internal medicine where he was named Resident of the Year, followed by a fellowship in nephrology. Most recently Dr. Metzger has been appointed as Clinical Instructor of Medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center. Prior to completing his medical school studies, Dr. Metzger developed continuing medical education (CME) programs primarily in the area of central nervous system (CNS) disorders, and has co-authored journal articles and posters on nephrology-related topics.
