Dr. Silich is a plastic surgeon who specializes in all areas of aesthetic surgery with particular emphasis on facial rejuvenation and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Part of his practice has always been taking care of acute burn patients and facial reconstruction after burns. He first began working with burn cases when he was a visiting medical student at Cornell Medical Center and it continued at Staten Island University Hospital's burn unit all throughout his practice for the past 9 years.

Dr. Silich has a private practice in Manhattan and also teaches plastic and reconstructive surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He is an attending surgeon at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, and the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. Speaking from his experience taking care of acute burn patients and doing facial reconstruction after burns, Dr. Silich says "the work that the burn unit is doing is incredibly important. Addressing the needs of burn victims involve so much of the community. From home safety, community outreach, physical therapy, cooperation from the fire department and teaching in schools, we all need to get involved in order to help people who are affected by burn trauma".

The state-of-the-art Regional Burn Center at SIUH is a 10-bed unit that admits about 700 burn patients a year. Recognizing that a burn changes a life forever, the center's clinical team provides treatment, critical care and surgical care while aiming for minimal disfigurement. Patients and their families are encouraged with much needed emotional and medical support through the long and often challenging process of recovery. The center has earned a national reputation for the long term treatment of burns, surgical care and for Pediatric burn care.
