EBSCO Publishing's Health Library™ Receives URAC Health Content Provider Accreditation

Patient Information Database from EBSCO Publishing receives Full URAC Health Content Provider Accreditation through December 2007.

Ipswich, MA (PRWEB) October 13, 2006

EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) has been awarded Health Content Provider Accreditation from URAC for Health Library™ content through December 2007.

Health Library is used by hospitals to provide patient education information to patients and their families seeking current awareness of conditions and procedures. The database provides easy to understand patient education and consumer health information and is made available through hospital Web sites. The information is written by medical writers and adheres to established guidelines for evidence-based information.

Content providers that receive the URAC Health Content Provider Accreditation are evaluated against more than 50 URAC Health Content Provider Standards. These standards ensure that the content delivered by the provider meets the highest quality of content and services. When customers see that EBSCO’s Health Library™ content has received URAC Health Content Provider accreditation, they can be assured that EBSCO has spent many months and hundreds of hours creating an infrastructure that is necessary to ensure the development of quality online health content and services. Most importantly, the accreditation process provides a third-party verification mechanism for compliance so that customers know that the site will maintain its quality content and services over time.

In August 2006, EBSCO’s Health Library™ was awarded URAC Health Web Site Accreditation through Dec 2007.

“By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation, EBSCO Publishing has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said Charles Stellar, URAC Board Chair. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards.”
