SafeShot Technologies, LLC, a leader in safety syringe innovation, today announced a new Board Member – Kevin Hanly, teacher of Engineering and Bio Medical Manufacturing at the Institute of Technology in Salt Lake City, Utah for the Granite school district. Kevin has more than 25 years of experience in managing Medical Device Manufacturing Operations within a highly FDA-regulated environment. He recently retired from the industry as V. P. of Manufacturing for ICU Medical in June 2009.

The 2008 Study of Nurses Views on Workplace Safety and Needlestick Injuries by the American Nurses Association reveals Needlestick Injuries (NSIs) and blood-borne infections remain a major concern in the U. S., with two-thirds of all nurses having been accidentally stuck by a needle while working. Despite the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act of 2000 which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this November, many healthcare professionals are still not being equipped with safety solutions to eliminate exposure to blood borne pathogens and sharps injuries.
